Aleco 252 Report post Posted July 30, 2018 Deathrattle Rogue gets another new toy with Necrium Vial, but is 5 Mana too steep of a price to pay for this effect? Rogue has received even more Deathrattle support from The Boomsday Project, this time in the form of an Epic spell! What we have here is double Play Dead for 5 Mana. When you put it that way it doesn't sound too exciting, but it isn't that hard to find a Deathrattle ability which is worth 5 Mana and a card if triggered twice. Blightnozzle Crawler into this is as almost as good as double Assassinate, while this plus Mechanical Whelp for 2 7/7s is an awful lot of board presence. I don't think that Necrium Vial is strong enough on its own to make Deathrattle Rogue a potent archetype, but I do expect that a card with a powerful effect like this will eventually be able to see play in Standard. Taan 46 Report post Posted July 30, 2018 (edited) I might be mistaken, but my spider senses are tingling that this one is just too expensive and too risky. Without a Deathrattle in play, it is a dead card in your hand and if you have one in play it really needs to be powerful enough to make "Necrium Vial" worthwhile for 5 mana. Hanz39 53 Report post Posted July 30, 2018 (edited) Costing more than 1/2 mana is completely useless, Play Dead is already Underpowered at 1 mana since it's a dead card until you have another card to combo it. Those kind of card should be really cheap to be even remotely useful. Spending 10 mana to summon a 2/4 and kill 2 enemy minions is plain terrible you spend 2 cards and a whole turn to end with a 3 mana body and kill 2 minions not mentioning if there are the Annoy-o-trons you don't kill nothing except a 1/2, for 10 mana you want play Vilespine Slayer that instantly kill something and not require a horrible combo to do so but any card that cost 5 or less to activate it. Rogue spellstone is better than this and never see play this is plain pack filler. Blizzard is known to put extremely underpowered Epics as filler in any expansion and this is one of them. VaraTreledees 138 Report post Posted July 30, 2018 This card might actually make malygos rogue viable. Prep + this + illusionist is 6 Mana leaving enough for double eviserates. Add in a backstap and that's 3 malygos' seems great. I don't think this card will see fair play, 5 Mana is just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to expensive for that.
