The Siege of King's Crest Teaser

Recommended Posts

qCdcBdZ.jpg

Blizzard started teasing the Siege of King's Crest on the official Heroes of the Storm Twitter account. We speculate that this is either a new event coming to the Nexus with the latest patch or an upcoming comic.

New Comic?

The second Heroes of the Storm comic titled Secrets of the Storm tells the story of Deckard Cain and Orphea that come to warn the Lady of Thorns about the Raven Lord who has summoned the Dark Nexus to claim another realm. Siege of the King's Crest could be the third installment of the Heroes of the Storm comic series after Rise of the Raven Lord and Secrets of the Storm.

New In-Game Event?

Siege of King's Crest may very well refer to a new in-game event that will go live on PTR next week alongside Brightwing & Kerrigan reworks and the updated Garden of Terror battleground. As with other events, we can expect new skins, mounts, portraits, and sprays.

New Battleground?

With the release of updated Hanamura and Garden of Terror, Siege of King's Crest could also be a new map starring the Raven Lord from Cursed Hollow and Lady of Thorns from Dragon Shire.

New Hero Unlikely

Some members of the community have started speculating that the teasers could refer to a new Hero, but this is extremely unlikely. We just got Mephisto and in 2018, Heroes of the Storm patches cycle through new Hero releases and Hero reworks.

Teasers

Two teasers have been released thus far.

Definitely an event tied with the upcoming reworks. I wonder what kind of skins Brightwing and Kerrigan will get.

I find surprising we're getting an event now, though, since Hallow's End is really close. But awesome, two events in a row!

Dark Nexus reiteration would be great, expanding on the concept started for Alarak and Gul'dan.

As for a new map - I would be thrilled; the more the better. With that said, I highly doubt it, as we have just received Hanamura back and Alterac not so long ago. On top of that, Garden of Terror will be reworked, so I assume it is just too much on the map devs' plate to come up with a new map.

and that is what I think as well, as Meph is still fresh.

Comic for sure, and probably an in game event too. I wonder if they would let us choose sides, since it was a thing on both Nexusmania and Alterac events.

I could see this being a new hero, there was only bout a month between Whitemane and Mephisto, show who it is on monday, 2 weeks ptr, 28 days between Mephisto and whoever if it happens. And this was how they teased the last two, so it could be possible.

Can confirm that a new comic episode is coming.

And new skins related to Garden of Terror should be the new event. Expect something like Garden Butterfly Brightwing skin and Garden Fairy Kerrigan skin.

Definitely not a new hero, since it's not a new element/logo. Rather too early, Mephisto came out recently, so this must be a comic and maybe a couple of skins.

Stoked! Really like that the devs are bringing a storyline to the nexus. I cant wait to see all these realms and skins tie together in a way.

Also looking very much forward to the kerri and alarak skins!

Oh my I think I just peed a little...
Those skins like epic o.O

I'm surprised Whitemane got a new skin so soon. I guess she will be the new Li-Ming, lol.

I'm disappointed we didn't get any new skins for Ragnaros or Fenix, though; they would fit well the Hallow's End-ish theme, because this event will be tied with Hallow's End when you look at the loot chest displayed.

In Storm League, rank is always updated by taking the change in rating and determining the equivalent number of rank points to reward. While the Heroes team is quite happy with how it turned out, the system is causing problems in Bronze 5.
In Bronze 5, players gain/lose far fewer points per game than players in other leagues and divisions. The underlying problem makes it harder to climb out of Bronze 5 and causes frustration and bad gameplay experience. The team is working on ways to improve it and provided an explanation of why this is happening.
      Blizzard (Source)
With the launch of Storm League season 1 we have seen a dramatic improvement in rank distribution. One of the primary changes in this release was in how rank is determined. In the past, rank and rating were two entirely different concepts, both of which were updated differently after each game. It was very common for a player's rank and rating to diverge throughout each season which could cause the matchmaking system to struggle to find games.
With the changes introduced this season, rank is always updated by taking the change in rating and determining the equivalent number of rank points to reward. This leaves very few ways rating and rank can diverge and results in most players being shown a number equivalent to their rating.
Overall, we are very happy with how the changes are looking; however, we are aware of the inconsistencies players are currently experiencing in Bronze 5. With the new design, players in Bronze 5 will gain/lose far fewer points per game than players in all of the other leagues and divisions. The reason for this is a bit technical but we wanted to take the opportunity to elaborate on what's going on.
Under the hood, matchmaking rating is simply a number on a bell curve. Every league and division encompasses a range of values on the same curve. For example, if the overall bell curve ranges from -10.0 to 10.0 and the range 1.0 to 1.5 maps to Gold 1, then a player with a rating of 1.25 will have the equivalent rank of Gold 1 & 500/1000 points. These numbers are intentionally made up as the real ones are always subject to change but the idea is the same.
The reason for the decrease in points awarded in Bronze 5 is that the range of ratings that maps to Bronze 5 is much larger than other divisions. The difference is that this much larger range of ratings still maps to the same number of rank points. As a result, despite being rewarded the same change in matchmaking rating, the rank points awarded may be lower. This is visualized by the graph below:
We understand that this inconsistency is a negative experience for players so we will be exploring some ways to improve it.
Thanks for participating in Storm League and providing your feedback!
