Most Popular Classes in WoW Classic #2

Recommended Posts

G6vtHrF.jpg

We're looking at the most popular Classes in WoW Classic based on the traffic generated by our guides and compare it with the last week's report.

Warriors and Mages continue to be the most popular Classes in WoW Classic by far. The Mage leveling guide alone has generated double the traffic of the Rogue leveling guide. At Rank 4 we have the Priest, climbing up from Rank 7. All the other Classes fell by one rank and Shaman replaced Paladin, occupying Rank 8 at the moment.

Well, it's not surprising that Paladin is at the bottom now. People love the fantasy of being a Paladin, but once that wore off, they realized that the class is barely even functional.

Pally's a must have in all dem raids and group pvp king and solo content god through relentless amount of autoattacks combined with strong CDs.

Well, of course Shaman and Paladin are at the bottom, when they can be played by just one faction. I would be interested to see, if they stay at the bottom, if you count them together. Make Shamadin for comparisons sake. ?

I was looking forward to play shaman, which was my main class before monk got released. But since i started with BC back then, i totally forgot that only horde shaman and only alliance paladins was a thing in the past.

Also not surprised druid is low. Even though they are a PVP monster and solid PVE. You have one race option and aren't the best at any of your roles.

I'm playing one because I want the flexibility and I'll be good enough to carve out a niche, but also understand that not being able to rez people in a 5 man can be a bit of a challenge.

Interesting study!  I do wonder, however, whether these ranks are biased by harder to level classes.  For example, hunters and warlocks are much easier to level than a lot of classes while warriors and priests are notoriously hard to level solo.  Another factor may be that some have more complicated leveling opportunities such as mages with AOE leveling where it can take quite a bit of practice for a new player to master and many intricacies in doing so.

It does seem like a good representation overall though.  I know warriors are likely to be the most popular while the bottom three tend to be druids, shamans, and paladins historically.

What makes you say they're barely functional?

Because they have almost no offensive capabilities. Seals, Judgment, autoattacks, Retribution Aura, Consecration... and that's it. They're boring as hell to play, and they're mostly stuck in a supporting role, in both PvE and PvP.

The question I have. Is the created toon classes, or actually played and leveled/leveling.

The data is based entirely on the traffic generated by our guides.

As a mostly support player in most games. I enjoy paladins alot in both pve and pvp. And to add paladins are ranked even with priests as healers up to naxx. So they are among the best healers and easily the best support class.

So i really dont see them as dysfunctional. I see them as extremly useful and working as indended.

Mages and warriors without salvation is boring.

They re hard to level up, not harder than warriors though. Once they LV up though their amazing utility buffs and debuffs, mostly auras, salvation buffs and Wistom judgement, allow far more bursty dps.
Also at high crit chance they do the same if not more heal than priests.

Check out our preview of the Group Finder feature coming in Wrath of the Lich King Classic!
You can bring up the Group Finder by pressing "I". The Group Finder has two tabs. The first tab's called "My Interests". It allows you to select from various types of content and list yourself with a role.

The second tab is the "Group Browser", which lets you browse and apply for groups based on various criteria. These include Dungeons, Heroic Dungeons, Raids, Quests & Zones, PvP, and Custom.

Here's a really cool accomplishment, as Polar have taken down Void, aka hard mode 4 in Season of Mastery's version of Ahn'Qiraj. Added as an additional challenge, the four difficulties are unlockable at various reputation levels with the Brood of Nozdormu, with the final one coming in at exalted. Each boss has additional mechanics for each difficulty added, with C'thun basically joining the fight with all 4 active, adding all three tentacle types AND his eye beam, with the big round fellow appearing as well.
You can see all the added difficulty changes for each boss in the video below, and it has a pretty solid intro as well! Thanks to Japfapp for sharing it over on the WoW Classic reddit.
In case you wanted to see the logs for the clear, you can do so here.

It seems another wave of invites for the WotLK Classic beta have gone out, as players are reporting receiving access a little earlier today. It also seems there aren't any mails sent out to notify players of their beta access, or at least they aren't arriving as fast as the invites themselves, as the game just shows up as an option on the Battle.net launcher. It seems a fair amount of those invited were active in Burning Crusade Classic, as sethers656 reported 10 players in their guild getting in, although some that don't even play Classic at all also received an invite.

      Source.
So check your WoW section of Battle.net and see if you managed to get in as well.

Blizzard have teased the new features coming to Naxxramas in Season of Mastery, with a mysterious new NPC that will provide some wares for players, which will have "a significant impact" both inside and perhaps even outside the raid. We don't get any specifics, but it sounds interesting and related to the increased challenges like we've seen in Ahn'Qiraj already.
      Naxxramas (Source)
      Hi All,
Wanted to pop in and provide a bit of clarification on what is new for Naxxramas in the SoM PTR. I don’t want to fully spoil all the things but wanted to at least give you some info to get you rolling.
The main thing to watch out for in Naxx is new quests offered by Archmage Tarsis Kir-Moldir near the entrance between the spider and plague quarters:
Most of the new things in Naxxramas become available as you progress through his quests and gain access to the various wares he offers.
Due to the nature of the encounters in Naxxramas, you will not find mechanical changes to the fights themselves (at least not in this round of PTR testing), but as you progress through Naxxramas and discover more of what the Archmage offers, you will discover more than a few new surprises that could have a significant impact inside (and potentially outside!) the raid, including a few special surprises based on how you approach the raid and make use of what Archmage Tarsis provides.
Overall we don’t want to say too much here as there are a few hidden surprises that we want to let players discover on their own, but did want to provide a little bit of a hint to get you started. As always, let us know at [email protected] if you are planning to take your group onto the PTR and test. If you let us know when you are testing, we are able to make it, we’d love to hop on and observe your raid group.
      Thanks!
