How to Get the Bound Shadehound Mount in Patch 9.0.5?

Recommended Posts

Blizzard added a new mount that works in the Maw in Patch 9.0.5, and here's how you can get it.

In total, there are 3 mounts now that work in the Maw. One of them is exceptionally rare, and for the other, you need to complete all layers of the Twisting CorridorsAll mounts will work in the Maw in Patch 9.1, but we're still a few months away from Chains of Domination, so here's a handy guide by The Red Rogue covering how to get the Bound Shadehound Bound Shadehound.

If you can't watch the video for some reason, don't worry. We also have a written version of the guide, based on The Red Rogue's video. Don't forget to follow him on YouTube. Here are the requirements for the mount.

  • Maximum (Appreciative) Reputation with Ve'nari.
  • You must complete the "Rule 7" quest.
  • You need 3,500 Stygia to buy quest-specific items or 4,550 if you haven't purchased the Animated Levitating Chain Animated Levitating Chain upgrade.
  • You should also skip all the dailies if you want to work on the mount because they will incur the Eye of the Jailer upon you, making it harder to get the mount.

If you meet all the requirements, go to Ve'nari and purchase Stygia Dowser Stygia Dowser for 1,500 Stygia. The item allows you to interact with Stygia Nexuses (green clouds) that can be found in the Maw. The nexuses will give you Stygia Dust and Stygia Sliver, but absorbing one also increases your Eye of the Jailer. You will need 200 of each of the items to finish this portion of the questline. The nexuses are located in the worst places possible (behind Elites), hard-to-reach places, etc.

For the second portion of the puzzle, you must head to Perdition Hold. Specifically, there is a grappling point at 23, 68.4 that will take you up. You will come across a green Stygia cloud, and the game will announce that The Stygia Dowser pulls to the southeast. The puzzle is at 24, 75.5.

If you reach the area, a new button, "Stygia Delirium Stygia Delirium," is going to pop up on your action bar. Clicking on it will phase you and spawn a chest with 6 runes above it. You must click on two different ones to swap their positions.

The correct order is clock-wise from the spikes, starting from the spike behind you going to your left.

Completing the puzzle gives you Crumbling Stele Crumbling Stele. Now you must head back to Ve'nari. She will have another item for sale, which for 2,000 Stygia called Partial Rune Codex. It is missing 3 pages that you must collect in various locations in the Maw.

  • Rune Codex Page: Binding is located at 24.6, 12.6 in the Tremaculum, where Anduin was chained during the Maw Intro Questline.
  • Rune Codex Page: Souls is located in Perdition Hold, near the Thanassos (Rare) spawn location.
  • Rune Codex Page: Forging is located in the Deaths Howl Cave in Beastwarrens (48.8, 84.7).

Now, you must right-click the pages to merge them into an Intact Rune Codex.

For step 5, you must kill Soulforger Rhovus at 35.8, 41.8. It's important to complete the codex first. Otherwise, the NPC won't drop the item you need. Kill him and loot Soulforger's Tools Soulforger's Tools.

Next, you should Grapple up Perdition Hold. The first point is at 23, 68. Look up for the remaining points. Find the Altar of Domination at 20, 67 and craft 20 Stygia Bar Stygia Bars. You also need to craft 1 Armored Husk Armored Husk while you are there.

Find the Willing Wolf Soul in Gorgoa, River of Souls. Stand at 25, 42, and the wolf will eventually pass through. Click on the wolf to capture its Willing Wolf Soul.

Head back to Ve'nari's Refuge. Outside of it, you will bind the soul to the armor at a Binding Altar (45, 48). There, you must combine the Wolf's Soul with the Armored Husk Armored Husk to create a Feral Shadehound Feral Shadehound.

Now, you must examine (right-click) the Crumbling Stele Crumbling Stele and remember the rune order.

Finally you must right-click and Summon Feral Shadehound Summon Feral Shadehound, and an action bar will appear. You must click runes in the correct order to perform the rune binding, while riding the mount. The quest will complete and you will receive your Bound Shadehound Bound Shadehound.

Is there an addon that shows the location of the green clouds? Also, how much do they drop of each material?

Don't know about addons, but you see them on your minimap once you have that item. I did it yesterday and it's very slow, typically you will get 1-2 per node, sometimes more, but it's random. Also only one player can take it, as node despawns after someone takes it. You just have to run around the zone to check which of them are up, might take longer if there are more players in your phase at the moment.

We're taking a closer look at the Mythic+ Tier List for the fifth week of Dragonflight Season 2!
      DISCLAIMER
The following post is based on statistics provided by Subcreation, a website that gathers various Mythic+ data from live servers. Please note that the tier list is biased toward the top end because it only looks at the top 100 keys per dungeon per affix and ignores keys below +16 and untimed runs.
For the reasons mentioned above, the data presented here will always differ from the Mythic Tier Lists maintained by Petko.
      Data Reliability
The data used in the post comes from Subcreation, a site maintained by Alcaras. Subcreation provides statistical analysis of Mythic+ dungeons, raids, and PvP in Shadowlands, and the data is provided via the Warcraft Logs API and Raider.io. If you'd like to support Subcreation, you can check out their Patreon.
      How the Data is Calculated
The site looks at the top 100 keys per dungeon per affix across all regions and examines their raider.io scores. For each dungeon and specialization, the site takes the lower bound of a 95% confidence interval of the top 100 runs for each specialization. The site then averages these lower bounds, one per dungeon, to get an overall average lower bound for each spec, which is finally used to create the tier list.
The site takes the lower bounds of the 95% confidence interval calculated and then clusters them into 6 buckets using the Ckmeans algorithm. You can find more information by reading the site's FAQ.
Tanks, Healers, Melee, and Ranged are all on the same scale. They're just shown separately for easier comparison across roles.
Mythic+ Tier List for Dragonflight Season 2 Week 5
The specs are ranked based on their lb_ci which stands for the lower bound of a 95% confidence interval. If a certain tier is missing, it's not occupied by any specialization.
The following tier list is for this week's affixes: Tyrannical, Volcanic, Sanguine.
The images from Subcreation are currently experiencing some issues as classes are listed in the incorrect order, but you will find the correct order in text format.

Quantum items are a new type of cosmetics coming in Patch 10.1.5 that teach you appearances from the past, including weapons and armor.
The latest Patch 10.1.5 Build 49908 adds quantum items. While we don't know exactly how they will work, the tied spells indicate they will teach you item appearances from the past. Maybe this is Blizzard's new way of bringing back removed items like the ones from Zul'Gurub or Naxxramas in Patch 10.1.5 and instead of having X items you must collect, there will be just 1 sort of "token" with many appearances tied to it.
The following Quantum items have been added so far:
Quantum Wand Quantum Staff Quantum Warglaives Quantum Sword Quantum Polearm Quantum Shield Quantum Mace Quantum Shoulders Quantum Headpiece Quantum Knuckles Quantum Legs Quantum Knife Quantum Focus Quantum Greathammer Quantum Greatsword Quantum Gloves Quantum Bow Quantum Crossbow Quantum Firearm Quantum Chestpiece Quantum Axe
