Patch 9.1 Week #1: To-Do List

Recommended Posts

Patch 9.1 releases later today, so it's time to look at what you should focus on when servers are back up.

  • Focus on increasing your reputation standing with the two new factions located in Korthia Death's Advance and The Archivist's Codex by completing daily quests.
  • Clear Torghast Layer 9.
  • Recraft your Legendaries if Shards of Domination are taking up your current Legendary slot.
  • Spend your Valor on something useful that can make you gold before it is reset to 0 during the week of July 6.
  • Complete the 3 new campaign chapters.
  • Increase your Renown to 43 by completing weekly quests.
  • Complete Covenant Assaults for Soul Cinders.
  • If you are returning to the game, try to grind Stygia to buy upgradeable item level 200 Catch-up gear in Korthia.

This is a little late, but you might want to change this to 42 seeing as the Return Lost Souls weekly no longer gives renown.

The AWC Grand Finals concluded yesterday and we have new champions, one for the NA and one the EU regions! Check out the official summary and videos of the matches below:
      AWC Grand Finals (Source)
The Arena World Championship (AWC) Grand Finals came to a thrilling conclusion on Sunday, September 26 as Method NA and Horizon secured their spots as the 2021 Regional Champions!
After two incredible seasons, AWC concluded 2021 with some of the most thrilling Arena matches we have seen in it’s storied fourteen-year history. Horizon secured the EU Regional title while Method NA retained the NA title, with each winning team taking home gold medals as well as $70,000 (USD) each out of the $300,000 global prize pool.
The 2021 Grand Finals represented the best of what AWC truly is. While on the surface, the Arena World Championship is a chance for top pvp teams to compete on a public stage, at its core AWC is a celebration of a highly skilled and nuanced element within World of Warcraft. David Hollings, Product Lead for WoW Esports, summed it up perfectly: “AWC is not only a competitive means for arena, but also a place where many can feel they belong.” This past weekend viewers experienced everything from anxiety to heartbreak to euphoria, all while watching it as a shared community.
In what was the second reverse-sweep of the day, Horizon claimed victory after defeating Method EU 4-3! Horizon went into the Grand Final seemingly invincible, having beat Skill Capped 3-0 in the Semifinal, shortly after their initial defeat over Method EU in the first round, 3-1.
As one of the favorites to win the whole tournament, to say Method EU went into the final match with a grudge to settle would be an understatement. Following their loss to Horizon, they started Day 2 facing Reload Esports in the Elimination match, in which they squeaked by with a 3-2 victory. Method EU seemed to be finished in the Semifinal when Skill Capped quickly took the first two games; however, they rallied and through increasingly tense games they pulled-off a reverse-sweep to finish with another 3-2. Going into the Grand Final, Method EU seemed to be on a role as they took Horizon to match point. In a shocking turn, Horizon rallied to finish the day with four straight games to claim the Regional title!
We asked Kasu how the team rallied in the face of near defeat at the hands of one of the strongest teams in AWC history:
“First of all, we had a very big problem with the fact that the Method team was incredibly good at cross-control of our entire team. After we lost 0-3, we decided to think about how to reduce the time of control on our team and how we can prevent them from controlling our entire team for such a long time, and surprisingly we decided to try to play a little differently in terms of the hunter's game.  All I can say is that we didn't give up. It is better to communicate between each other and win, and fortunately we managed to win [in] this final arena versus Method EU. We want to convey from our entire team gratitude to all those who supported us all this way, many thanks to the people who really supported us and worried.”
Method NA, the powerhouse team that secured the title in Season 1, scored a yet another championship after defeating Golden Guardians 4-1 in the Grand Final match. Heading into the tournament, Method NA was seemingly unstoppable with a 20-5 record, best across both regions, in Season 2. This momentum showed no signs of slowing as they started the weekend with a 3-0 defeat of Golden Guardians, followed by a 3-1 victory over their Season 1 final rivals, Cloud9. The Grand Final saw them face off once more against Golden Guardians, winning 3-1 to claim yet another AWC championship!

While this marks the end of AWC’s 2021 competitions, WoW Esports still has a lot of action left to finish out the year. This weekend Mythic Dungeon International concludes its Season 2 regular season with the Last Stand Tournament, followed by the 2021 Global Finals October 29-31. We can’t wait to share what is in store for both AWC and MDI in 2022, so be sure to follow us on Twitter and subscribe to YouTube to be the first to know!

Well, this is a weird one indeed but also very awesome, as we have two renditions of a snail mount - one in art and one in-game! The first is actually an older idea but has been re-drawn today, as Blessybunny (for whatever weird/insane/creative reason) imagined Garrosh's fate that of being turned into a snail... mount!

Now if that isn't the most crazy thing you've seen in a while then... well you lead an interesting life! You can check out the original below as well, and we're taking a look mostly due to the item description:

But this post apparently inspired Ayahne as well (or it's the biggest coincidence of all time), and we also got a look at what an in-game snail mount would look like (minus the Garrosh angle, with an added Darkmoon Faire twist):
So, it's been a very big day for snails in WoW, and while I don't really foresee these actually coming to the game, they're pretty great! Also, which do you think is a more fitting end for Garrosh? A pile of defiant soul dust or the snail?

Blizzard is implementing a hand glow customization option for Nightborne in Patch 9.1.5.
The glow effect is a unique customization option that will be available starting this week on the 9.1.5 PTR. It will be available to Nightborne females first, with the male hand glow coming in a later PTR build.
      Hello everyone!
In this thread there has been passionate feedback for Nightborne to have the hand glow effect that is seen on some Nightborne NPCs. We loved the idea after reading your feedback and have been looking into the feasibility of bringing that option to Nightborne character customization. The hand glow effect is a bit more involved and has taken some finessing to figure out due to its unique nature, but we’ve gotten a good grasp on it. In this week’s PTR build, we’ll be bringing a version of this as a new customization option to Nightborne females for testing, with the male hand glow coming in a later PTR build.
The glow effect is a unique customization option and a work in progress, please let us know what you think after testing out the new option on your Nightborne.

We're moving on up! The very first Shadowlands live server Mythic +29 has arrived, less than a week after the 28! Plaguefall hosted the highest key this time as well, as Lonecrusader, Thaner, Childintime, Vihoo and Wildicute did it again after their previous +28! This week was much more hospitable compared to last, with the affixes making up a push week so this was perhaps to be expected, but it's still very impressive nonetheless!

And now let's take a look at the videos:
      Tank (Prot Paladin):

      Healer (Resto Shaman):

      DPS (Windwalker):

And so huge congratulations to the team once more and let's see if we can get a +30 this week? Legion capped out at 31 and BfA at 35, so there's plenty of room to grow, although this is only Season 2/a .1 patch so we might be seeing the highest key of all time during Shadowlands after all.
