Iansan Guide & Best Builds

Welcome to our Iansan build guide for Genshin Impact. Iansan is a 5-Star Electro Support Character who is able to provide a range of powerful ATK buffs to the party as well as healing. In our guide, we'll cover everything you need to know about how she is best built, including her top artifacts, weapons, and stat priorities.

Best Weapons for Iansan

Listed below are Iansan's best weapons. While her signature and high Base ATK weapons are great for maximizing her buffs, what is best can often vary depending on the Energy Recharge requirements of your specific team composition.

Calamity Queller R1

Extinguishing Precept

Base ATK: 741

ATK: 16.5%

Gain 12% / 15% / 18% / 21% / 24% All Elemental DMG Bonus. Obtain Consummation for 20s after using an Elemental Skill, causing ATK to increase by 3.2% / 4% / 4.8% / 5.6% / 6.4% per second. This ATK increase has a maximum of 6 stacks. When the character equipped with this weapon is not on the field, Consummation's ATK increase is doubled.

Calamity Queller is Iansan's best-in-slot weapon. It has an incredibly high Base ATK and provides additional ATK % through its substat and passive effect, making it the easiest weapon to cap her ATK-based buffs on. You will need to rely on your artifacts to meet her Energy Recharge requirements.
Engulfing Lightning R1

Timeless Dream: Eternal Stove

Base ATK: 608

Energy Recharge: 55.1%

ATK increased by 28% / 35% / 42% / 49% / 56% of Energy Recharge over the base 100%. You can gain a maximum bonus of 80% / 90% / 100% / 110% / 120% ATK. Gain 30% / 35% / 40% / 45% / 50% Energy Recharge for 12s after using an Elemental Burst.

Engulfing Lightning is a fantastic option if your team's Energy Recharge requirements are on the higher end. It provides a massive amount of ER while also converting a portion of that ER into ATK, allowing you to run an ATK % Sands without struggling to get her Burst back on rotation.
Favonius Lance R5

Windfall

Base ATK: 565

Energy Recharge: 30.6%

CRIT Hits have a 60% / 70% / 80% / 90% / 100% chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, which will regenerate 6 Energy for the character. Can only occur once every 12s / 10.5s / 9s / 7.5s / 6s.

Favonius Lance is often the best 4-Star option for Iansan, especially in energy-hungry teams. It provides excellent Energy Recharge and generates neutral particles for the entire party. You will need a decent amount of CRIT Rate from your artifact substats to trigger its passive reliably.
Missive Windspear R5

The Wind Unattained

Base ATK: 510

ATK: 41.3%

Within 10s after an Elemental Reaction is triggered, ATK is increased by 12% / 15% / 18% / 21% / 24% and Elemental Mastery is increased by 48 / 60 / 72 / 84 / 96.

Missive Windspear is a great free-to-play alternative if you have it from its past event. It provides a solid Base ATK and ATK % substat to help scale Iansan's buffing and healing capabilities, though it lacks the ER utility of Favonius.

Best Artifacts for Iansan

Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City

Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City

2-Piece Set: When a nearby party member triggers a Nightsoul Burst, the equipping character regenerates 6 Elemental Energy.

4-Piece Set: After the equipping character triggers a reaction related to their Elemental Type, all nearby party members gain a 12% Elemental DMG Bonus for the Elemental Types involved in the elemental reaction for 15s. If the equipping character is in the Nightsoul's Blessing state when triggering this effect, all nearby party members gain an additional 28% Elemental DMG Bonus for the Elemental Types involved in the elemental reaction for 20s. The equipping character can trigger this effect while off-field, and the DMG bonus from Artifact Sets with the same name do not stack.

Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City is almost always Iansan's best artifact set. As a Natlan character, she can fully utilize the 4-piece effect to provide a massive Elemental DMG Bonus to the elements involved in the reactions she triggers. This is her default and highly recommended set in almost all her teams.
Noblesse Oblige

Noblesse Oblige

2-Piece Set: Elemental Burst DMG +20%

4-Piece Set: Using an Elemental Burst increases all party members' ATK by 20% for 12s. This effect cannot stack.

Noblesse Oblige is your alternative option if another character in the party is already equipped with the Scroll set (since duplicate sets do not stack), or if Iansan cannot reliably trigger an elemental reaction to activate the Scroll buff for the primary DPS element. It provides a solid team-wide ATK buff upon using her Burst.

Iansan's Stat Priority

Sands of Eon: ATK % / Energy Recharge
Goblet of Eonothem: ATK %
Circlet of Logos: ATK % / CRIT Rate (With Favonius)
Substats: Energy Recharge (to requirements) > ATK % > CRIT Rate (With Favonius)

Iansan's stat priority revolves entirely around meeting her Energy Recharge requirements to cast her Burst, and then stacking as much ATK % as possible to maximize her buffs and healing. If you are using Favonius Lance, ensure you have enough CRIT Rate to trigger its passive.

Energy Recharge Breakpoints

Iansan's Energy Recharge requirements depend heavily on how many Electro characters are in the party, as well as if Iansan has her Constellation 1 unlocked. If using an ER weapon such as Engulfing Lightning or Favonius Lance, her artifact ER requirements will be much easier to reach.

Team Setup Constellation 0 Constellation 1
1 Electro (Solo) 215 - 260% 170 - 200%
2 Electro 135 - 170% 115 - 130%

Recommended Stats for Iansan

Build recommendations assume a support-focused Iansan. Exact ATK values will depend greatly on your equipped weapon's Base ATK.

ATK: 2,500 - 3,500+
CRIT Rate: 30 - 50% (Favonius)
Energy Recharge: 135 - 260% (See Breakpoints above)

Iansan's Talent Priority

Talent Priority: The Three Principles of Power > Thunderbolt Rush

When building Iansan strictly as a support buffer and healer, her Elemental Burst, The Three Principles of Power, is the only talent that truly needs investment. You can safely leave her Normal Attacks un-leveled.

How to Play Iansan

Iansan is a very flexible buffer and excellent holder for the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City artifact set. She is best placed in teams with ATK-scaling DPS characters. Because her Kinetic Energy Scale from her Burst restores Nightsoul points based on the active character's movement distance, she pairs best with characters that feature high mobility in their kits.

Characters from Natlan such as Mavuika, Varesa, and Kinich inherently have high mobility and work exceptionally well with her. Plunge-focused DPS characters like Xiao or any character supported by Xianyun also synergize perfectly, as vertical mobility (jumping and plunging) contributes significantly towards maintaining Iansan's ATK buff.

Iansan's Best Constellations

Iansan has some amazing constellations that greatly enhance her supportive playstyle, making her even easier to build and stronger for the team.

Investment Priority: Constellation 2 > Constellation 5 > Constellation 6

Starting's Never Easy (C1) is a massive quality-of-life improvement as it significantly reduces her Energy Recharge requirements, allowing you to focus more artifact rolls purely into ATK %.

Laziness is the Enemy! (C2) provides a powerful additional 30% ATK buff to your active character while Iansan is off-field, solidifying her role as a premier attack buffer.

Teachings of the Collective of Plenty (C6) increases the duration of her Kinetic Energy Scale by 3 seconds and provides a direct 25% DMG increase to the active character, taking her overall team buffing potential to the next level.
