Beidou Guide and Best Builds

Beidou Guide and Best Builds for Genshin Impact

Beidou is a 4-Star Electro Claymore character, who excels in 2-target fights while being able to provide Electro RES shred and a strong shield with Constellations. Her skill is a parry, which can be great for a lot of mechanics in a pinch. Her burst works really well for off-field DPS, which snapshots on cast, meaning that you want to stack as many ATK % buffs into it. Her only drawback is her Energy requirements are high, meaning she needs a lot of Energy Recharge and an Electro Battery.

This guide will focus on Beidou's best weapons, builds, artifacts, teambuilding and more!

Beidou Off-Field DPS Build

Beidou's Off-Field DPS build is straightforward, as we build around her Burst. This means we want good amounts of Energy Recharge, ATK %, CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG like many other characters.

  1. Serpent Spine
  2. The Unforged
  3. Ultimate Overlord's Mega Magic Sword

  2. Noblesse Oblige 2p / Thundering Fury 2p

Substat Priority
  1. Comfortable Energy Recharge
  2. CRIT Rate / DMG

  4. Energy Recharge if using Emblem of Severed Fate
  5. Elemental Mastery
  6. Flat ATK
Talent Priority
  1. Elemental Burst
  2. Elemental Skill
  3. Normal Attack

Beidou's weapon choices are pretty broad with a F2P weapon, a Battle Pass pass weapon, and an event weapon in her list. While Wolf's Gravestone is technically best on her you can make a case to use any of the other weapons, especially Serpent Spine as there could be other Claymore users who you will actively use on the field who benefit more from Wolfs Gravestone. If you do use Serpent Spine, do remember to pre stack it. The stacks have no duration, but will drop if you take damage, which is perfect for Beidou as she will either be off-field or shielded, meaning that she takes no damage. If you use Ultimate Overlord's Mega Magic Sword, make sure to hunt down every Melusine world quests as well, to get full benefit of the weapon's secondary effect.

Her stat scalings are pretty straightforward. Her burst costs 80 energy, which means Energy Recharge is very important, so you can cast her burst as often as possible. The amount you need will vary based on your team and how often you use her skill. At worst, you will need about 162% Energy Recharge and at best you will need about 120%. The latter is covered by the Emblem of Severed Fate and the rest can be covered through a few rolls of Energy Recharge or the sands having it as the main stat. I would recommend getting closer to 176%, as your artifact set will convert some of this into Burst Damage, but also because having lower Energy Recharge makes you reliant on perfectly executing her skill every single time. Note, these Energy Recharge numbers are based on having Fischl in the party and having Oz on the field. You will need to aim for slightly more Energy Recharge if you do not use Fischl.

Past Energy Recharge, the priority is the same as most DPS, CRIT Rate/DMG and then ATK %. Some things to note with Beidou, is that any ATK % buff applied to her will snapshot onto her burst. This can make ATK % be worth more or less depending on your team setup.

Combos and How to Play Beidou

Beidou is very easy to play. You play around her Burst and her Skill most of the time, otherwise you just keep swapping around to continuously generate Energy so she can Burst on cooldown. Whenever you attack while her burst is up, it will trigger a chain lightning on the target. This will chain twice, 4 times with Bane of Evil (C2). This chain can jump forth and back between 2 targets if they are close enough. This makes it a very strong burst for 2-target situations, but the damage will drop off a cliff if it is pure single-target.

Beidou's Elemental Skill, Tidecaller, functions as a Parry. Not many characters have this kind of skill, which can be a very valuable defensive tool if used correctly. Every attack against you will increase the base damage the skill does when you release the parry, capping at 2 attacks. The Retribution (A1) will make it so you cap the damage if you parry around the same time the attack comes in. The tooltip says at the precise timing, but there is a small leeway when you activate the parry. Outside of this, if the shield breaks, the parry stops and instantly fires.

Beidou's Best Team Comps

Beidou's main team compositions typically has her as an off-Field DPS, where you use another character as the on-field trigger with her burst. You will typically see a second Electro in nearly all her builds, as Beidou pretty much requires it to get enough Energy for her Burst.

4.1.

Beidou/Keqing Aggravate Team

Main DPS Dendro Enabler Sub DPS Support
Keqing Beidou

Aggravate teams work by combining Electro and Dendro to create Quicken. Quicken is an Aura, where applying Dendro or Electro to the target will create a new reaction, being Spread and Aggravate. This applies a damage buff to the attack that applied Dendro/Electro. Aggravate is created from applying Electro, and alleviates some of the issues between Keqing and Beidou. With this solved, Beidou can now support Keqing with interruption RES. Past that, the rest of your team is some form of support with a Dendro enabler so you have Quicken on your targets. Kazuha is usable here if you don't need healing, but want to be able to bunch up a lot of targets.

4.2.

Beidou Overload Team

Main DPS Sub DPS Sub DPS Support
Yoimiya Fischl Beidou Chevreuse

This team is specifically meant to trigger a lot of Overload. Yoimiya can easily apply Pyro with her Normal Attacks while her skill is up, Beidou's burst prevents interruption to the Normal Attack chain for Yoimiya, Chevreuse massively buffs Attack, Pyro and Electro DMG through RES Shreds and % increase elemental damage.

The rotation starts with Chevreuse using her skill, then Yoimiya stacking her skill before using her burst. This can feel clunky but it makes Yoimiya's burst grant ATK %, which Beidou can snapshot off of. You can forego this step if you want to, however you do lose some damage. Make sure that you try and keep Oz on the field at all times and try and time it so you don't have to refresh him during Yoimiya's Skill duration, as swapping out Yoimiya will remove her Elemental Infusion.

4.3.

Beidou Budget Quickswap Team Comp

Main DPS Sub DPS Sub DPS Support
Beidou Fischl Xingqiu Bennett

This budget comp is always a decent choice. It consists of Fischl, who you use to funnel Energy to Beidou. We then have Xingqiu and Bennett, who both are great damage supports off field. Bennett's burst is used first, to buff the ATK of both Xingqiu and Beidou. Beidou's burst will snapshot the attack increase. After having used their bursts, you will then swap between characters to do normal attacks and use skills on cooldown. You will be frequently swapping to Bennett, especially while in his burst, as his Skill has a very short cooldown.

Normal Normal Attack: Oceanborne Regular 5-hit Combo Normal Attack. Her Charged Attack makes her do continuous slashes in front of her while slowly moving forward.
Elemental Skill Tidecaller

Beidou's Constellations

As with most 4 star characters, aiming for C6 is preferred, and Beidou is no different. Sea Beast's Scourge (C1) is a massive boost to her supportability by providing a shield with her burst and Upon the Turbulent Sea, the Thunder Arises (C2) is also very strong. Other than that, the next strong constellation is Bane of Evil (C6), which Shreds Electro Res. You can see the exact descriptions of each constellation below.

Constellation Name Explanation
1 Sea Beast's Scourge Create a shield that absorbs up to 16% of Beidou's Max HP for 15s when using Stormbreaker. This shield absorbs Electro DMG 250% more effectively.
2 Upon the Turbulent Sea, the Thunder Arises Thunderbeast's Targe Chain Lightning chains an additional 2 times.
