Valiant Chronicles: Local Legends Guide in Genshin Impact Nod-Krai
Take on the toughest foes in Nod-Krai with Genshin Impact's Valiant Chronicles: Local Legends system. Here is how to access and complete these special challenges to claim Primogems, rare materials, and an exclusive avatar frame.
Valiant Chronicles - Nod-Krai Local Legends Guide
With the release of Luna I, a new permanent system called Valiant Chronicles has been added to Genshin Impact. Through it, players can take on Local Legends. Those are powerful bosses scattered across Nod-Krai, that will reward Primogems, valuable upgrade materials, and even an exclusive Avatar Frame.
This system is aimed at high level adventurers and unlocks new layers of challenge and lore for the region. It is the new version of the Local legends. Before, you needed to explore the map and find them. Now they unlock differently, and it is finally rewarding to defeat them.
How to Unlock Valiant Chronicles?
- Adventure Rank Requirement: 55 or above
- Speak to Katheryne in Nod-Krai
- Select the dialogue option: "Check Valiant Chronicles information."
- Inside the menu, you can view:
- A list of available Local Legends.
- Rewards for defeating them under certain conditions (e.g., avoiding specific attacks).
- Prerequisite quests if some bosses require them before unlocking.
- Exact locations of each Local Legend, removing the guesswork of hunting them down on the map.
Important: Local Legends defeated before unlocking Valiant Chronicles do not count toward challenge objectives. Because of this, we recommend you unlock the system before hunting down the bosses!
Valiant Chronicles Rewards
- Primogem
- Character and Weapon Level-Up Materials
- Mora
- Avatar Frames (granted after completing the required number of challenge objectives)
You can view and equip the Avatar Frame by going to the Paimon Menu and select Change Avatar.
Challenge Objectives
Each Local Legend comes with multiple challenge conditions. Completing them grants additional rewards. Examples include:
- Defeating the boss without being hit by certain attacks
- Destroying enemy shields
- Eliminating adds before the boss can act
The more objectives you complete, the faster you will progress toward earning the exclusive Avatar Frame. On top of that, it is important to know that objectives only count on World Level 8 or higher. Challenges can also be completed in co-op, but the host's world needs to be level 8 or higher as well.
List of Known Local Legends and How to Defeat them
Sigurd Local Legend
- Description: Once a valiant warrior who stood against the dark calamity, Sigurd's spirit continues his eternal battle against the Wild Hunt.
- Location: Lempo Isle, Nod-Krai, Northeast of Barrowmoss Barrens
- Requirement: Complete the World Quest named Bell of Mourning Echoes. This quest can be unlocked in Nasha Town by talking to Lightkeepers named Sukhovykh and Lushne near Nefer's Shop.
- Challenge Rewards:
- Defeat Sigurd - 20 Primogem, Material
- Avoid Demonsbane Strike - 20 Primogem, 25,000 Mora
- Eliminate Wilfreness Exiles first - 20 Primogems, ×3 Unknown Material
Sigurd is located on Lempo Island on the right side near the water. In order to unlock him you need to complete the Bell of Mourning Echoes World Quest first. Once the quest is over, interact with the Tomb Stone to start the fight.
Avoid Electro attacks during this fight. He has 2 phases, but there is a rather easy way to cheat the full fight. You will want to swap your Traveler to Anemo. You can solo the fight with the Anemo Traveler, or bring a shielder or healer with you as well if you are not comfortable with dodging a lot of fast attacks. Zhongli for example works fine.
Before starting the fight, you also want to go fight some random mobs in order to build up your Elemental Burst. Once you are ready, head to the Boss location and start the fight. Set up your shield, and wait near the nearby Kuuhvaki flower on the water, until he goes above the upper rocks. Once he is walking on the rocks, place yourself on top of it as well, and use your Burst facing the water's direction. So basically in a way you will send him flying into the water. He will just drown. You can do it from other positions, but this one is the easiest. The Traveler's tornado will just carry him to the water.
Crab Tsar Local Legend
- Description: A crab ruler infected by ancient moonlight. Its delirium ended by a thief's intervention, but its might remains formidable.
- Location: Crab Tsar's Palace
- Requirement: Complete the World Quest named The Mirrors, the Maze, and the Tsar. This quest can be unlocked on Hiisi Island near the teleport left to the Statue of the Seven. There is a hole in the ground nearby, drop down and the quest will start.
- Challenge Rewards:
- Defeat Crab Tsar - 20 Primogem, ×3 Lakkaberry
- Convert at least 10 Stoneborne Seeds - 20 Primogem, 25,000 Mora
- Shoot down the Crab Tsar before its second "Tsarly Bombardment" - 20 Primogem, Material
Crab Tsar is located on Hiisi Island Underground. In order to unlock him you need to complete the The Mirrors, the Maze, and the Tsar World Quest first. Once the quest is over, you can teleport back underground to start the fight. Be careful as the one fight that counts for the Valiant Chronicles is not the one you do during the World Quest. You have to defeat it a second time, and the fights are not the same.
The best teams for this fight are Bloom, Hyperbloom, Lunar-Bloom, or Burgeon teams, so any Dendro and Hydro teams. You also want to take a good healer with you.
During the fight, you have to convert the Stoneborne Seeds. Those are the flower-looking thingies that he will throw at you. You want to use any Bloom related reaction to trigger them. If you took both Hydro and Dendro characters with you, this should happen rather automatically. If you pulled for Lauma, she will make it easier for you, as her hold skill instantly converts all the seed nearby. Nahida is another good option as she can target the seeds. On the Hydro side, Nilou is also very efficient during this fight thanks to her Bounty Bloom that explodes faster.
Now the tricky part is to kill the Crab before he does his second Tsarly Bombardment. Essentially, it is a DPS check. You will notice the attack when he starts floating in the air and throws a ton of seeds. He will do it a first time, which is fine, but if he does it a second time it means you can restart the fight.
When he is floating, attack the nearby seeds. This will throw them back at the Crab, and destroy his Shield. if you do not knock him down, he will one shot your active character.
Raskolnikov Local Legend
- Description: A precise Poruchik stationed at the Kuuvahki Experimental Design Bureau, executing every order with mechanical efficiency.
- Location: On top of the Kuuvahki Experimental Design Bureau, Paha Isle, Nod-Krai
- Requirement: Complete the World Quest named The Shoemaker's Children Go Barefoot. This quest can be unlocked on Paha Island inside the Kuuvahki Experimental Design Bureau. The quest is part of a larger World Quest called East of the Moon, West of the Sun. The quest is located on the outside of the Bureau, all the way down, near the sort of port, where you can go up with elevators.
- Challenge Rewards:
- Defeat Raskolnikov - 20 Primogem, Material
- Destroy the "Experimental Multi-Shield" - 20 Primogem, 25,000 Mora
- Avoid all Electro attacks - 20 Primogem, Material
Raskolnikov is located on Paha Island on top of the Kuuvahki Experimental Design Bureau. In order to unlock him you need to complete the The Shoemaker's Children Go Barefoot World Quest first. Once the quest is over, you can teleport back underground to start the fight. Be careful as the one fight that counts for the Valiant Chronicles is not the one you do during the World Quest. You have to defeat him a second time.
This fight is a bit complicated because he has a rather annoying shield. You want a team that has a ton of elemental application and reactions. During the fight he spawn a shield that needs to be depleted three times to stun him. This shield regenerates itself if you do not attack fast enough. You want characters like Xiangling, Kaedehara Kazuha, Furina for example, which can all apply damage off field. Tartaglia is a good DPS choice as he attacks really fast.
While he is under his shield, you also want to make sure evade the Electric attacks he throws at you. They deal a lot of damage, and one of the achievements requires you to not get hit by those.
A good way to dodge his attacks when he not under the shield is to constantly move around him. He can perform multiple heavy attacks in a row, and circling around him can help you evade some of those.
