Character Explanation
Dan Heng's gameplay is focused around applying shields to his allies to make sure they can stay alive. Dan Heng can choose a Bondmate who will receive additional effects and this will be the last target of his Skill Terra Omnibus. You can also choose a Bondmate precombat by using his Technique Earthrend. Dan Heng is usually Skill Point positive as he very rarely has to use his Skill if allies are in significant danger.
Dan Heng's Skill Terra Omnibus and Ultimate A Dragon's Zenith Knows No Rue both provide large shields for the team but the largest portion of team sustain comes from Dan Heng's Talent Of Virtue, Forms Unfold and his Summon Souldragon.
Dan Heng's Talent Of Virtue, Forms Unfold
grants Dan Heng's Bondmate the summon Souldragon. Souldragon has a base spd
of 165 and does not scale with Dan Heng's own SPD.
Souldragon will count as the Bondmate's Summon and will follow them into solo
encounters and only be be unsummoned if Dan Heng is Knocked Down.
Souldragon will apply a teamwide shield every time it acts. With Dan Heng's
A2 Trace Sublimity the ally who has the
smallest shield receives additional shield which helps handle uneven damage
taken.
Dan Heng's A4 Trace Sylvanity will Action
Advance Souldragon each time the bondmate uses an ATK letting you get more
shields with a faster Bondmate or Bondmate's that use frequent Follow-up ATKs.
Dan Heng's Bondmate will receive 15% of Dan Heng's ATK thanks to his A6 Trace Empyreanity. This buff is a powerful increase to ATK scaling units DMG.
Dan Heng's Ultimate A Dragon's Zenith Knows No Rue will cause Souldragon to become enhanced for 2 actions. While Enhanced Souldragon will launch a Follow-up ATk every time it takes action dealing damage. Additionally, the target will receive Additional DMG based on the Bondmate's ATK.
Build Advice
Dan Heng's main focus for gearing is maximising his ATK and SPD. Maximising Dan Heng's ATK will mean he provides larger shields, have a higher maximum shield Absorb and provide a bigger ATK Buff to his Bondmate while having higher SPD will let him generate more Skill Points for the team as he can usually be played Skill Point Positive or allow you have less downtime between turns to reapply his shields if necessary.
When building SPD on Dan Heng you will want to target SPD breakpoints for content. The suggested minimum SPD for Dan Heng is at least 134 SPD as this will let him act twice in 150 AV for Memory of Chaos.
After you get at least 134 SPD or whichever SPD breakpoint you feel comfortable reaching we suggest equipping whatever Relics have the most total rolls of SPD, ATK% and ATK (count ATK as 0.5 as they are approximately half as good as ATK% rolls).
Further breakpoints after 134 SPD are: 143+ SPD (+1 Action in 350 AV), 156+ SPD (+1 Action in 450 AV), 160+ SPD (+1 Action in 250 AV).
We suggest using ATK% Rope over an Energy Regeneration Rate Rope as it will provide more overall DPS for the team and has comparable Defensive Power. An Energy Regeneration Rate Rope will allow Dan Heng to use his Ultimate one turn faster consistently without requiring him to be hit. This added consistency makes it a viable option but we would still recommend ATK% over it.

Best Synergies for Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae

Sunday is a Harmony Support unit that offers buffs to a single unit and Action Advance. Sunday's buffs from his skill Benison of Paper and Rites are increased if the target has a summon and Dan Heng's Souldragon will count as a summon for his Bondmate. Additionally, Sunday's Action Advance will advance Souldragon resulting in a massive increase to shields provided.

Archer is an ATK scaling DPS that can cast multiple Skills in a single turn as well as launching Follow-up ATKs. This will advance Souldragon far more than most units will for better shield coverage. Archer also benefits from Dan Heng being strictly Skill Point Positive as Archer is very Skill Point Hungry.

Phainon is an ATK scaling DPS that gains charge for his Ultimate when he is targeted by allies which can be stacked by Dan Heng's Skill. Phainon will also get a 45% DMG buff after receiving the shield from his A4 Trace Bide in Flames. Another unique interaction is that Souldragon will not be departed when Phainon enters Ultimate as it would count as Phainon's summon allowing him to continue to receive shields even while transformed.

Aglaea is an ATK scaling Remembrance DPS that gets an immense speed boost from her Ultimate. This immense speed results in her taking more actions than most units can and risks shields expiring with other Shield Sustain units but is not as much of a risk with Dan Heng. Aglaea is often paired with Sunday which will accelerate Souldragon each time he advances Aglaea.

Anaxa is an ATK scaling DPS that has a unique mechanic where he repeats his skill after casting it. This skill repeat will advance Souldragon an additional time compared to normal units resulting in more Shield generation than other characters.

Feixiao is a Follow-up ATK carry and she launches multiple attacks per turn which will advance Souldragon a lot for more shields for the team.

Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae's Best Teams
Dan Heng is an incredibly versatile sustain unit and can be played with nearly any DPS in the game. We also do not suggest playing Dan Heng with units that deal damage to themselves or their teammates like Castorice as he has no way to restore their HP after it goes down.
This is not a comprehensive list of teams. The inclusion or exclusion of any given team does not necessarily reflect its power level. These are just examples of teams that have good synergy with him.

Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae's Best Eidolons
Dan Heng Permansor Terrae's first Eidolon is his most efficient Eidolon while
E6 is the strongest. Dan Heng's E1 provides a reasonable increase to both
team DPS with the RES Pen and rotational comfort with the skill point
generation. The later Eidolons are significantly weaker except for E6 so we
do not suggest investing beyond E1 and would recommend getting his Lightcone
over any Eidolons.
Listed below are our calculations for Dan Hengs's Eidolons.
Eidolon | % Diff | % Diff E0 | Comment |
---|---|---|---|
Shed Scales of Old | 11.4% | 11.4% | This Eidolon is worse in teams with Sunday as the action advances from Sunday will cause the RES Pen buff to expire faster. This Eidolon is closer to 18% DPS increase for Phainon as it will not expire on him. |
Watch Trails to Blaze | 1.5-15% | 13.1% | This Eidolon's offensive power depends on the team. In teams with a CRIT DPS carry this can be over 10% but in teams that do not scale CRIT like DoT it can be as low as 1.5%. |
Bear Weight of Worlds | 0.3% | 13.4% | Dan Heng's own damage is small compared to the overall teams DPS. |
By Oath, This Vessel Is I | 0% | 13.4% | Eidolon provides no damage and the Damage Reduction is often wasted as Dan Heng has no issues shielding the entire team. |
The Path of Permanence Sweeps Far | 0% | 13.4% | This Eidolon also provides no damage but is approximately a 7.5% increase to his maximum shield cap. |
One Dream to Enfold All Wilds | 33% | 50.8% | This is Dan Heng's best Eidolon and provides a massive increase to Team DPS. |
