Though Worlds Apart
S1
Increases the wearer's ATK by 64.0 / 80.0 / 96.0 / 112.0 / 128.0%. When the wearer uses Ultimate, restores HP equal to 10.0 / 12.5 / 15.0 / 17.5 / 20.0% of the wearer's ATK for all allies, and additionally restores HP equal to 10.0 / 12.5 / 15.0 / 17.5 / 20.0% of the wearer's ATK for the character with the lowest current HP, and grants "Redoubt" to all allies for 3 turn(s). Targets with "Redoubt" deal 24.0 / 30.0 / 36.0 / 42.0 / 48.0% increased DMG, which further increases by 12.0 / 15.0 / 18.0 / 21.0 / 24.0% if the targets have summons.

This is Dan Heng's Signature Lightcone and is his best option for offence and defence. This Lightcone has the highest base ATK of any Preservation Lightcone along with a large increase to ATK % and buffs to all allies DMG. The target with Bondmate will count as having a summon due to having Dan Heng's Soul Dragon. This Lightcone also has an additional benefit of doing a small heal with every ultimate which can heal off any chip damage that breaks through his shields.
Journey, Forever Peaceful
S5
Increases the wearer's provided Shield Effect by 12.0 / 15.0 / 18.0 / 21.0 / 24.0%. When an ally target has a Shield, the DMG dealt increases by 12.0 / 14.0 / 16.0 / 18.0 / 20.0%.

Sources: Nameless Glory
This 4★ Lightcone is available from the Battlepass as Dan Heng's second best build option as it provides a large increase to shield effect. Shield Effect is a hard to obtain stat and massively increases his overall team sustain and provides all allies with a moderate DMG increase.
Journey, Forever Peaceful

Increases the wearer's provided Shield Effect by 12.0 / 15.0 / 18.0 / 21.0 / 24.0%. When an ally target has a Shield, the DMG dealt increases by 12.0 / 14.0 / 16.0 / 18.0 / 20.0%.

Sources: Stellar Warp
This is a 4★ limited Lightcone and has the second highest team defensive benefit of 4★ Lightcones due to providing All-Type RES to all allies. This is still worse than
Moment of Victory
S1
Increases the wearer's DEF by 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0 / 36.0 / 40.0% and Effect Hit Rate by 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0 / 36.0 / 40.0%. Increases the chance for the wearer to be attacked by enemies. When the wearer is attacked, increase their DEF by an extra 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0 / 36.0 / 40.0% until the end of the wearer's turn.

Sources: Stellar Warp
This is Gepard's Signature Lightcone and is relatively easy to obtain due to being in the Shop. This Lightcone does not provide any useful stats for Dan Heng but has higher Base ATK than 4★ Lightcones. The increased DEF will mitigate damage taken for Dan Heng but the effect on team damage taken will be small due as a lot of damage taken is AoE which will ignore the increased likelyhood to be hit from this Lightcone.
We Are Wildfire
S5
At the start of the battle, the DMG dealt to all allies decreases by 8.0 / 10.0 / 12.0 / 14.0 / 16.0% for 5 turn(s). At the same time, immediately restores HP to all allies equal to 30.0 / 35.0 / 40.0 / 45.0 / 50.0% of the respective HP difference between the characters' Max HP and current HP.

Sources: Echo of War, Forgotten Hall Store
This is a competitive 4★ Lightcone option as it has higher base ATK than most other 4★ Preservation Lightcones. This Lightcone also provides a brief but powerful damage reduction for all allies but since it is not permanent the effect provided is worse than other options.

This is a 5★ Lightcone from the Herta's Store. This Lightcone is easy to obtain and can be used if you do not have any other options but provides no damage bonuses and only weak defensive bonuses which only affect Dan Heng.

Best Relics and Planar Ornaments for Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae

Best Relics for Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae

These are the best Relic Sets to build for Dan Heng. These relics are listed in order of overall strength for the team taking into account both offensive and defensive power.

Self-Enshrouded Recluse
2-Piece Set: The provided Shield Effect increases by 10.0%.
4-Piece Set: Increases the Shield Effect provided by the wearer by 12.0%. When an ally target holds a Shield provided by the wearer, the ally target's CRIT DMG increases by 15.0%.
This Set Bonus provides a large amount of Shield Effect and grants all allies on the team CRIT DMG while Dan Heng's Shield Persists. Self-Enshrouded Recluse provides a bigger boost to shield effect than Knight of Purity Palace and provides more team DPS making it strictly an upgrade and the best relic to build for Dan Heng.
Knight of Purity Palace
2-Piece Set: Increases DEF by 15.0%.
4-Piece Set: Increases the max DMG that can be absorbed by the Shield created by the wearer by 20.0%.
This Set Bonus provides 20% Shield Effect and some DEF %. The DEF % is not that useful for Dan Heng as he scales with ATK but the Shield Effect is quite potent.
Self-Enshrouded Recluse Warrior Goddess of Sun and Thunder
2-Piece Set: The provided Shield Effect increases by 10.0%.
4-Piece Set: Increases the Shield Effect provided by the wearer by 12.0%. When an ally target holds a Shield provided by the wearer, the ally target's CRIT DMG increases by 15.0%.
2-Piece Set: Increases SPD by 6.0%.
4-Piece Set: When the wearer or their memosprite provides healing to ally targets other than themselves, the wearer gains "Gentle Rain," which lasts for 2 turn(s) and can only trigger once per turn. While the wearer has "Gentle Rain," SPD increases by 6.0% and all allies' CRIT DMG increases by 15.0%. This effect cannot stack.
Building the Self-Enshrouded Recluse 2pc alongside any other 2pc is a decent option if you do not have four good Self-Enshrouded Recluse pieces.
We suggest using these Relics (in order):
  1. Warrior Goddess of Sun and Thunder / Messenger Traversing Hackerspace / Sacerdos' Relived Ordeal - 6% SPD
  2. Musketeer of Wild Wheat / Prisoner in Deep Confinement / The Wind-Soaring Valorous / Hero of Triumphant Song - 12% ATK
  3. Scholar Lost in Erudition (8% CRIT Rate) / Wavestrider Captain (16% CRIT DMG)

Best Planar Ornaments

Lushaka, the Sunken Seas
2-Piece Set: Increases the wearer's Energy Regeneration Rate by 5.0%. If the wearer is not the first character in the team lineup, then increases the ATK of the first character in the team lineup by 12.0%.
This is Dan Heng's Best Universal Planar Ornament as it provides a small amount of Energy Regeneration Rate which is useful to make his ultimate more consistent to cast and also provides 12% ATK for your Main DPS.
Penacony, Land of the Dreams
2-Piece Set: Increases wearer's Energy Regeneration Rate by 5.0%. Increases DMG by 10.0% for all other allies that are of the same Type as the wearer.
This is instead Dan Heng's Best Planar Ornament when supporting Physical units as the 10% Physical DMG provided to the team is better than 12% ATK is usually. The Energy Regeneration Rate is also very useful to make his ultimate more consistent.

Character Explanation Build Advice

Character Explanation

Dan Heng's gameplay is focused around applying shields to his allies to make sure they can stay alive. Dan Heng can choose a Bondmate who will receive additional effects and this will be the last target of his Skill Terra Omnibus. You can also choose a Bondmate precombat by using his Technique Earthrend. Dan Heng is usually Skill Point positive as he very rarely has to use his Skill if allies are in significant danger.

Dan Heng's Skill Terra Omnibus and Ultimate A Dragon's Zenith Knows No Rue both provide large shields for the team but the largest portion of team sustain comes from Dan Heng's Talent Of Virtue, Forms Unfold and his Summon Souldragon.

Dan Heng's Talent Of Virtue, Forms Unfold grants Dan Heng's Bondmate the summon Souldragon. Souldragon has a base spd of 165 and does not scale with Dan Heng's own SPD.
Souldragon will count as the Bondmate's Summon and will follow them into solo encounters and only be be unsummoned if Dan Heng is Knocked Down.
Souldragon will apply a teamwide shield every time it acts. With Dan Heng's A2 Trace Sublimity the ally who has the smallest shield receives additional shield which helps handle uneven damage taken.
Dan Heng's A4 Trace Sylvanity will Action Advance Souldragon each time the bondmate uses an ATK letting you get more shields with a faster Bondmate or Bondmate's that use frequent Follow-up ATKs.

Dan Heng's Bondmate will receive 15% of Dan Heng's ATK thanks to his A6 Trace Empyreanity. This buff is a powerful increase to ATK scaling units DMG.

Dan Heng's Ultimate A Dragon's Zenith Knows No Rue will cause Souldragon to become enhanced for 2 actions. While Enhanced Souldragon will launch a Follow-up ATk every time it takes action dealing damage. Additionally, the target will receive Additional DMG based on the Bondmate's ATK.

Build Advice

Dan Heng's main focus for gearing is maximising his ATK and SPD. Maximising Dan Heng's ATK will mean he provides larger shields, have a higher maximum shield Absorb and provide a bigger ATK Buff to his Bondmate while having higher SPD will let him generate more Skill Points for the team as he can usually be played Skill Point Positive or allow you have less downtime between turns to reapply his shields if necessary.

When building SPD on Dan Heng you will want to target SPD breakpoints for content. The suggested minimum SPD for Dan Heng is at least 134 SPD as this will let him act twice in 150 AV for Memory of Chaos. After you get at least 134 SPD or whichever SPD breakpoint you feel comfortable reaching we suggest equipping whatever Relics have the most total rolls of SPD, ATK% and ATK (count ATK as 0.5 as they are approximately half as good as ATK% rolls).
Further breakpoints after 134 SPD are: 143+ SPD (+1 Action in 350 AV), 156+ SPD (+1 Action in 450 AV), 160+ SPD (+1 Action in 250 AV).

We suggest using ATK% Rope over an Energy Regeneration Rate Rope as it will provide more overall DPS for the team and has comparable Defensive Power. An Energy Regeneration Rate Rope will allow Dan Heng to use his Ultimate one turn faster consistently without requiring him to be hit. This added consistency makes it a viable option but we would still recommend ATK% over it.

Best Synergies for Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae

Sunday
Sunday

Sunday is a Harmony Support unit that offers buffs to a single unit and Action Advance. Sunday's buffs from his skill Benison of Paper and Rites are increased if the target has a summon and Dan Heng's Souldragon will count as a summon for his Bondmate. Additionally, Sunday's Action Advance will advance Souldragon resulting in a massive increase to shields provided.

Archer
Archer

Archer is an ATK scaling DPS that can cast multiple Skills in a single turn as well as launching Follow-up ATKs. This will advance Souldragon far more than most units will for better shield coverage. Archer also benefits from Dan Heng being strictly Skill Point Positive as Archer is very Skill Point Hungry.

Phainon
Phainon

Phainon is an ATK scaling DPS that gains charge for his Ultimate when he is targeted by allies which can be stacked by Dan Heng's Skill. Phainon will also get a 45% DMG buff after receiving the shield from his A4 Trace Bide in Flames. Another unique interaction is that Souldragon will not be departed when Phainon enters Ultimate as it would count as Phainon's summon allowing him to continue to receive shields even while transformed.

Aglaea
Archer

Aglaea is an ATK scaling Remembrance DPS that gets an immense speed boost from her Ultimate. This immense speed results in her taking more actions than most units can and risks shields expiring with other Shield Sustain units but is not as much of a risk with Dan Heng. Aglaea is often paired with Sunday which will accelerate Souldragon each time he advances Aglaea.

Anaxa
Anaxa

Anaxa is an ATK scaling DPS that has a unique mechanic where he repeats his skill after casting it. This skill repeat will advance Souldragon an additional time compared to normal units resulting in more Shield generation than other characters.

Feixiao
Feixiao

Feixiao is a Follow-up ATK carry and she launches multiple attacks per turn which will advance Souldragon a lot for more shields for the team.

Robin
Robin

Robin is a very powerful versatile Harmony Suppport and she provides a very large teamwide ATK buff that will make Dan Heng's shields stronger. The ATK provided by Concerto will not increase the power of Bondmate.

Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae's Best Teams

Dan Heng is an incredibly versatile sustain unit and can be played with nearly any DPS in the game. We also do not suggest playing Dan Heng with units that deal damage to themselves or their teammates like Castorice as he has no way to restore their HP after it goes down.

This is not a comprehensive list of teams. The inclusion or exclusion of any given team does not necessarily reflect its power level. These are just examples of teams that have good synergy with him.

Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae's Best Eidolons

Dan Heng Permansor Terrae's first Eidolon is his most efficient Eidolon while E6 is the strongest. Dan Heng's E1 provides a reasonable increase to both team DPS with the RES Pen and rotational comfort with the skill point generation. The later Eidolons are significantly weaker except for E6 so we do not suggest investing beyond E1 and would recommend getting his Lightcone over any Eidolons.
Listed below are our calculations for Dan Hengs's Eidolons.

Eidolon % Diff % Diff E0 Comment
Shed Scales of Old 11.4% 11.4% This Eidolon is worse in teams with Sunday as the action advances from Sunday will cause the RES Pen buff to expire faster. This Eidolon is closer to 18% DPS increase for Phainon as it will not expire on him.
Watch Trails to Blaze 1.5-15% 13.1% This Eidolon's offensive power depends on the team. In teams with a CRIT DPS carry this can be over 10% but in teams that do not scale CRIT like DoT it can be as low as 1.5%.
Bear Weight of Worlds 0.3% 13.4% Dan Heng's own damage is small compared to the overall teams DPS.
By Oath, This Vessel Is I 0% 13.4% Eidolon provides no damage and the Damage Reduction is often wasted as Dan Heng has no issues shielding the entire team.
The Path of Permanence Sweeps Far 0% 13.4% This Eidolon also provides no damage but is approximately a 7.5% increase to his maximum shield cap.
One Dream to Enfold All Wilds 33% 50.8% This is Dan Heng's best Eidolon and provides a massive increase to Team DPS.
