Introductions

Hysilens is a 5★ Physical Character following the Path of Nihility. Hysilens is the new best DoT carry that inundates your foes in debuffs drowning them in damage.
Our Hysilens Build Guide will show you the best Lightcones, Relics and Team Compositions build the best Hysilens you can.

Hysilens's Best Light Cone

The percentage numbers listed showcase the relative DPS increase when you take into account both the Lightcone Effect(s) and Cones Base Stats.

Why Does the Ocean Sing (S1)
114%
Increases the wearer's Effect Hit Rate by 40.0 / 45.0 / 50.0 / 55.0 / 60.0%. When an enemy target gets inflicted with a debuff by the wearer, there is a 80.0% base chance for them to enter "Enthrallment," lasting for 3 turn(s). Effects of the same type cannot stack. While the target is in "Enthrallment," for every 1 debuff applied by the wearer on the target, increases the target's received DoT by 5.0 / 6.3 / 7.5 / 8.8 / 10.0%, stacking up to 6 time(s). When the target gets attacked by an ally, increases the attacker's SPD by 10.0 / 12.5 / 15.0 / 17.5 / 20.0% for 3 turn(s). When the wearer gets knocked down, removes all "Enthrallment."

Sources: Event Warp (limited)
This is Hysilens's Signature Lightcone and is her best build choice for triple DoT teams and highly competitive for any other team. This Lightcone provides a significant boost to the teams SPD making it easier to gear your Characters to their respective SPD breakpoints, especially Kafka, and applies DoT Vulnerability to enemies boosting DoT DMG.
Reforged Remembrance (S1)
113.3%
Increases the wearer's Effect Hit Rate by 40.0 / 45.0 / 50.0 / 55.0 / 60.0%. When the wearer deals DMG to an enemy inflicted with Wind Shear, Burn, Shock, or Bleed, each respectively grants 1 stack of Prophet, stacking up to 4 time(s). In a single battle, only 1 stack of Prophet can be granted for each type of DoT. Every stack of Prophet increases wearer's ATK by 5.0 / 6.0 / 7.0 / 8.0 / 9.0% and enables the DoT dealt to ignore 7.2 / 7.9 / 8.6 / 9.3 / 10.0% of the target's DEF.

Sources: Event Warp (limited)
This is Black Swan's Signature Lightcone. This Lightcone is especially powerful because of the DEF Ignore on the Lightcone brings Hysilens very close to 100% DEF Ignore when combined with other teammates abilities and Lightcones. We expect this to perform slightly better than Hysilens' Personal Lightcone in dual DoT teams. If you have E1 Black Swan then it will be a slight DPS gain to use Why Does the Ocean Sing on Black Swan instead as Hysilens deals more of the teams overall damage.
Those Many Springs (S5)
110%
Increases the wearer's Effect Hit Rate by 60.0 / 70.0 / 80.0 / 90.0 / 100%. After the wearer uses Basic ATK, Skill, or Ultimate to attack an enemy target, there is a 60.0% base chance to inflict "Unarmored" on the target. While in the Unarmored state, the enemy target receives 10.0 / 12.0 / 14.0 / 16.0 / 18.0% increased DMG, lasting for 2 turn(s). If the target is under a DoT state inflicted by the wearer, there is a 60.0% base chance to upgrade the "Unarmored" state inflicted by the wearer to the "Cornered" state, which additionally increases the DMG the enemy target receives by 14.0 / 16.0 / 18.0 / 20.0 / 22.0%, lasting for 2 turn(s). During this period, the wearer cannot inflict "Unarmored" on the target.

Sources: Event Warp (limited)
This is Jiaoqiu's Signature Lightcone. This Lightcone is strong due to offering a huge amount of Effect Hit Rate which makes gearing easier and applying a large DMG vulnerability to enemies which is a big boost to Team DPS.
Holiday Thermae Escapade (S5)
105.2%
Increases the wearer's DMG dealt by 16.0 / 20.0 / 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0%. After the wearer attacks, there is a 100% base chance to inflict the attacked target with Vulnerability, increasing the DMG they receive by 10.0 / 11.5 / 13.0 / 14.5 / 16.0% for 2 turn(s). Effects of the same type cannot stack.

Sources: Nameless Glory
This Battlepass Nihility Lightcone that provides a large amount of DMG % for Hysilens and a powerful increased DMG taken debuff. This Lightcone lacks Effect Hit Rate which makes gearing harder despite the overall strength of the Lightcone.
Lies Dance on the Breeze (S1)
104.2%
Increases the wearer's SPD by 18.0 / 21.0 / 24.0 / 27.0 / 30.0%. After the wearer uses an attack, there is a 120.0% base chance to inflict the "Bamboozle" state on every enemy target. While under the "Bamboozle" state, enemy targets have their DEF decreased by 16.0 / 18.0 / 20.0 / 22.0 / 24.0% for 2 turn(s). If the wearer's SPD is higher than or equal to 170, there is a 120.0% base chance to inflict the "Theft" state on every enemy target. While under the "Theft" state, enemy targets have their DEF decreased by 8.0 / 9.0 / 10.0 / 11.0 / 12.0% for 2 turn(s). When "Bamboozle" or "Theft" is repeatedly inflicted, only the most recently inflicted instance takes effect.

Sources: Event Warp (limited)
This is Ciphers's Signature Lightcone. This Lightcone provides a huge amount of SPD % which gives Hysilens 134 SPD for optimised clears without having to invest in SPD on gear. This Lightcone also offers huge DEF Shred which is a massive team DPS increase. The issue with this Lightcone is it lacks Effect Hit Rate which will require getting more Effect Hit Rate rolls on gear to compensate.
Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat (S5)
100.5%
When the wearer hits an enemy and if the hit enemy is not already "Ensnared," then there is a 60.0 / 70.0 / 80.0 / 90.0 / 100% base chance to "Ensnare" the hit enemy. "Ensnared" enemies' DEF decreases by 12.0 / 13.0 / 14.0 / 15.0 / 16.0% for 1 turn(s).

Sources: Stellar Warp
This is the gold standard 4★ Lightcone for Nihility Characters. This Lightcone provides a significant DEF reduction debuff on enemies that increases team damage by a large amount however it lacks Effect Hit Rate which will make gearing more challenging.
Good Night and Sleep Well (S5)
100.5%
For every debuff the target enemy has, the DMG dealt by the wearer increases by 12.0 / 15.0 / 18.0 / 21.0 / 24.0%, stacking up to 3 time(s). This effect also applies to DoT.

Sources: Stellar Warp
This 4★ Lightcone provides a massive amount of DMG % for Hysilens per debuff on the enemy. Hysilens will trivially apply three debuffs to receive the maximum effect from this Lightcone but due to it lacking Effect Hit Rate gearing will become significantly more challenging.
Eyes of the Prey (S5)
100%
Increases the wearer's Effect Hit Rate by 20.0 / 25.0 / 30.0 / 35.0 / 40.0% and increases DoT by 24.0 / 30.0 / 36.0 / 42.0 / 48.0%.

Sources: Stellar Warp
This 4★ Lightcone provides a large boost to DoT DMG % and Effect Hit Rate making this the staple 4★ Lightcone for Hysilens. The Effect Hit Rate on the Lightcone makes the gearing process smoother and lets you invest it in other stats like more ATK% or SPD.
Holiday Thermae Escapade (S1)
98.5%
Increases the wearer's DMG dealt by 16.0 / 20.0 / 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0%. After the wearer attacks, there is a 100% base chance to inflict the attacked target with Vulnerability, increasing the DMG they receive by 10.0 / 11.5 / 13.0 / 14.5 / 16.0% for 2 turn(s). Effects of the same type cannot stack.

Sources: Nameless Glory
Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat (S1)
96.8%
When the wearer hits an enemy and if the hit enemy is not already "Ensnared," then there is a 60.0 / 70.0 / 80.0 / 90.0 / 100% base chance to "Ensnare" the hit enemy. "Ensnared" enemies' DEF decreases by 12.0 / 13.0 / 14.0 / 15.0 / 16.0% for 1 turn(s).

Sources: Stellar Warp
Good Night and Sleep Well (S1)
94.4%
For every debuff the target enemy has, the DMG dealt by the wearer increases by 12.0 / 15.0 / 18.0 / 21.0 / 24.0%, stacking up to 3 time(s). This effect also applies to DoT.

Sources: Stellar Warp
Eyes of the Prey (S1)
93.8%
Increases the wearer's Effect Hit Rate by 20.0 / 25.0 / 30.0 / 35.0 / 40.0% and increases DoT by 24.0 / 30.0 / 36.0 / 42.0 / 48.0%.

Sources: Stellar Warp
Fermata (S5)
93.6%
Increases the wearer's Break Effect by 16.0 / 20.0 / 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0%, and increases their DMG to enemies afflicted with Shock or Wind Shear by 16.0 / 20.0 / 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0%. This also applies to DoT.

Best Relics and Planar Ornaments for Hysilens

Best Relics for Hysilens

These are the best Relic Sets to build for Hysilens. The percentage shows the relative difference to Hysilens's best performing set.

Prisoner in Deep Confinement
100%
2-Piece Set: Increases ATK by 12.0%.
4-Piece Set: For every DoT the enemy target is afflicted with, the wearer will ignore 6.0% of its DEF when dealing DMG to it. This effect is valid for a max of 3 DoTs.
This ends up being significantly ahead of any other option due to how strong DEF Ignore is on DoT Teams. DEF Ignore gets stronger the closer to 100% DEF Ignore and Reduction you have and DoT teams have a lot on each character. Any other set options are at least 5% worse than Prisoner and therefore have not been listed as they will not be able to outperform even a badly rolled Prisoner set.
Genius of Brilliant Stars
94%/99%
2-Piece Set: Increases Quantum DMG by 10.0%.
4-Piece Set: When the wearer deals DMG to the target enemy, ignores 10.0% DEF. If the target enemy has Quantum Weakness, the wearer additionally ignores 10.0% DEF.
This is the only other competitive set for Hysilens due to providing DEF Ignore but it is only good VS Quantum Weak enemies. Against non Quantum Weak enemies this would be significantly worse than even a badly rolled Prisoner set. We do not suggest building this set because it is more niche and is worse to farm.

Best Planar Ornaments

Revelry by the Sea
100%
2-Piece Set: Increases the wearer's ATK by 12.0%. When the wearer's ATK is higher than or equal to 2400/3600, increases the DoT DMG dealt by 12.0%/24.0% respectively.
This is Hysilens's best-in-slot Planar Ornament and provides a large DMG boost if you have at least 3600 ATK. Reaching 3600 ATK is quite easy as Hysilens does not invest in significant SPD and Kafka grants 100% ATK.
Pan-Cosmic Commercial Enterprise
97%
2-Piece Set: Increases the wearer's Effect Hit Rate by 10.0%. Meanwhile, the wearer's ATK increases by an amount that is equal to 25.0% of the current Effect Hit Rate, up to a maximum increase of 25.0%.
This is Hysilens's second best Planar Ornament as both Effect Hit Rate and ATK% contribute to damage for Hysilens. This Planar Ornament can be useful if you do not have an Effect Hit Rate Lightcone to make it easier to get 120% Effect Hit Rate.
Space Sealing Station
96%
2-Piece Set: Increases the wearer's ATK by 12.0%. When the wearer's SPD reaches 120 or higher, the wearer's ATK increases by an extra 12.0%.
This Planar Ornament is another option but we would suggest only using this as a temporary option while you farm for Revelry by the Sea as a priority because the only way this can beat Revelry is if you do not currently have a Physical Orb at all on the Revelry Set.

Character Explanation Build Advice Triple DoT Teams Dual DoT Teams Teams without Kafka

Character Explanation

Hysilens is a DoT character whose kit revolves around her Ultimate Maelstrom Rhapsody which is a Zone that lasts for 3 turns. Enemies within this zone have 15% reduced ATK and up to 25% reduced DEF (Lv 10). The main mechanic of the zone is that when enemies within the zone take DoT damage they will take an additional instance of DoT damage from Hysilens. This can trigger up to 8 times per enemy per turn or action. The damage from these additional DoT hits makes up 75-85% of her damage.
For example, if Kafka uses her Ultimate then Hysilens can trigger her additional DoT damage up to 8 times per target based on the number of active DoTs but will not trigger more than 8 on each target even if they have more DoTs times unless she has her E6 When to Return From Where You Lie which increases it to 12.

Hysilens' additional DoT damage from her Ultimate Maelstrom Rhapsody will deal the same damage no matter the effectiveness of the DoT trigger — it does not scale with the DoT effectiveness. This is very useful for Luka's Eidolon 6 A Champion's Applause or Sampo's E4 The Deeper the Love, the Stronger the Hate which cause very low effectiveness DoT triggers but will still cause Hysilens' to deal full damage.

Hysilens' has four weak DoTs from her talent Sirenic Serenade. These DoTs mainly exist to drive her Ultimate Maelstrom Rhapsody but they do contribute to 10-15% of her total damage output by themselves. These DoTs will stack without issue with DoTs from other characters as they are from Hysilens and Hysilens' Wind Shear can stack up to 5 stacks like any other Wind Shear it just takes a long time to stack up and can expire.

Hysilens' main gameplay revolves around using her Skill Overtone Hum: Chorus After Dark Tides if the debuff is not present on any of the important enemy targets and using her Basic ATK to conserve Skill Points for Kafka between Skill uses. If you have spare Skill Points you should spend them on Hysilens' Skill as it will make Ultimate generation more consistent as she is heavily reliant on kills or being hit with only a single skill used every 3 turns. Hysilens' will generate enough energy if she uses her Skill 3 times and gets hit 1-2 times but that is very Skill Point intensive. When dumping spare Skill Points on Hysilens' be mindful to make sure that Kafka will still have one Skill Point for her Turn as losing out on Kafka Skill uses is very bad for damage. In the same vein, it is important to make sure that you will have enough Skill Points to refresh any other Support Character's damage buffs.

It is extremely important that you have Hysilens' Ultimate Zone up at all times as she barely does any damage without it being active!

Build Advice

When building Hysilens the most important stat for her is Effect Hit Rate. You need at least 66.7% Effect Hit Rate to cause her to have 100% chance to apply her DoTs and this should be the absolute minimum you build but we strongly suggest getting to 120% as a priority because of her A6 Trace The Fiddle of Pearls. This will make every 10% Effect Hit Rate you build over 60% (up to 120%) give you 15% DMG (to a maximum of 90% DMG) which is incredibly efficient and is far better than ATK% for DMG.

For ease of building Hysilens we strongly suggest using an Effect Hit Rate body especially early on as it will be a very big damage gain. If you do not have an Effect Hit Rate Lightcone you have to use an Effect Hit Rate body as getting enough Effect Hit Rate otherwise is nearly impossible.

With an Effect Hit Rate Body and a 40% Effect Hit Rate Lightcone Hysilens will only need approximately 7 Substats of Effect Hit Rate to reach 120% Effect Hit Rate. With this setup she can obtain a maximum of 16 ATK% rolls with reasonable chance across her gear (Valid on 4 pieces as she has ATK% Rope and Shoes) for a maximum of 23 ATK% + EHR Rolls. We strongly suggest also aiming for Flat ATK on her ATK% pieces as these are approximately 40% of the value of an ATK% roll and makes it easier to roll better Relics. It takes approximately 7 or 8 SPD Substats (3-4 with her Signature Lightcone) to reach 134 SPD if you want an additional action within 150 AV, which is not necessary for damage but can be nice. With lucky 4+ ATK% upgrade pieces you could get more damage but that many upgrades are extremely rare to obtain on a single stat — 0.39% on a piece that did not start with 4 Stats, and 1.56% on a piece that did.

With an ATK% Body she will need ~18 Substats of Effect Hit Rate to get to 120% EHR but will only have a reasonable maximum of 12 ATK% rolls across her gear since you cannot roll ATK% on an additional piece. Combined this would be ~30 substats usefully used. This is very difficult to hit however as it needs you get 3 or 4 useful upgrades on every item. This setup is equal to an Effect Hit Rate Body at 7 ATK% Rolls without taking into account additional Flat ATK rolls which are worth about 40% of an ATK% roll each.

Speed is not too important for Hysilens as she does not directly scale with more turns. Her abilities do not deal significant damage per use as most of her damage comes from her DoT effects. Her Ultimate's Maelstrom Rhapsody Zone uptime is based on her own turns so increasing her SPD can actually make it slightly harder to maintain the Zone as she will be hit less often and get less kills per turn on average to generate energy for her.
The main reason to invest in SPD is if it lets you get an additional ultimate off within a fight. We do not suggest dropping any Effect Hit Rate or ATK% for SPD as you will not necessarily get a good return on investment.

We do suggest getting at least 120 SPD as it will give you an extra action within 250 AV which is a very good clear time in any content. If you have her Signature Lightcone we suggest instead going for 126 SPD as this will let her reach 134 SPD after she gets the 10% SPD buff from her Lightcone giving her the 0 Cycle Breakpoint. She needs at least 129 SPD to reach the 0 Cycle Breakpoint on the first wave of combat before she has the 10% SPD buff.

We do not suggest using an Energy Regeneration Rate Rope as she usually gets enough Energy from Kills and being Hit by Enemies to rebuild her Ultimate before it expires even with only 1 to 2 Skill Uses. If you have higher SPD than we recommend you may need to use more Skills per rotation to guarantee that you get enough Energy.

Triple DoT Teams

Triple DoT teams use Hysilens and Kafka as their two core characters and run a third DoT Character as a supporting Sub DPS. The most common third DoT Character and the most powerful is Black Swan and is one of her strongest teams possible. Additional weaker options are Sampo, Luka or Guinaifen.

These teams do not use the Support Character that are in high demand for other teams which makes team building significantly easier for 2 Team or 3 Team content.

Black Swan is the most powerful DoT Character because she has the strongest amplifying debuffs of any of the other DoT Characters. She also deals a very large amount of damage because her Arcana DoT from her Talent Loom of Fate's Caprice stacks up incredibly quickly with Hysilens.

Luka is a good option for Pure ST but he does not have an easy way to put his Bleed onto multiple targets. He will also cause Bleeds to immediately deal DMG whenever he uses his Enhanced Basic ATK which will add good ST damage. Luka also has to use his Skill to apply his Bleed which makes him less Skill Point efficient than characters who can avoid this.

Sampo is an excellent option if you have his E4 The Deeper the Love, the Stronger the Hate which lets his Skill make Wind Shear instantly deal damage per hit — if at least 5 Wind Shears were present on the target. Sampo can also more easily apply his DoT on AoE than Luka but can take a while to ramp up to maximum damage if there are a lot of enemies.

Guinaifen is a weaker option as her DoT is not as strong and only lasts 2 Turns. Her DoT must be applied by her Skill making her SP Neutral or SP Negative which is not good since you already have very high SP demands for Kafka and would ideally like to spend spare Skill Points on Hysilens. Guinaifen can also only trigger dots with her Ultimate which is a lot worse than Luka or Sampo.

Dual DoT Teams

Dual DoT teams use Hysilens and Kafka as their two core characters and then use a powerful Harmony or Nihility support as their third Character. Common options include Robin, Cipher, Ruan Mei, Tribbie or Silver Wolf

These teams are completely viable and deal excellent damage but they use characters that are highly competitive for other teams which can make it harder to field multiple strong teams for 2 or 3 Team content.

Teams without Kafka

Playing teams without Kafka is strongly not recommended as Kafka is the biggest DPS increase for DoT teams of any Character.

These teams can work in content where there are other mechanics that increase DoTs viability such as the V3.4 Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction or Apocalyptic Shadow because these have blessings that massively benefit DoT teams. These can also work fine in Simulated Universe because you can get other sources of DoTs triggering that can partially make up for not having Kafka.

Ideally in teams without Kafka you would run an E4 or higher Sampo and play him in a similar fashion to how Kafka is usually played. He will use his Skill every turn to try and trigger as many Wind Shears as possible to let Hysilens deal damage.

Hysilens's Best Eidolons

Hysilens's first Eidolon is her most powerful Eidolon so E1 is an efficient stopping point. Hysilens' E2 does not affect her own damage but it does provide a very significant boost in damage to the other characters on the team. After getting Hysilens E1 we suggest picking up Kafka's E1 and E2 or Black Swan's E1 before continuing to further invest.
Listed below are our calculations for Hysilens's Eidolons.

Eidolon % Diff % Diff E0 Comment
You Ask Why Hearts Cry 61.9% 61.9% Her best Eidolon by far. Allows Hysilen to cap out her Ultimate's triggers by herself and increases all DoT DMG dealt.
Tell Me Why Waves Roar High 5% 70% Very powerful buff for overall Team DPS and enables Hysilens as a Sub DPS/Support in non DoT Teams. The Buff provided to allies is based on Hysilens' EHR not Allies. This can be closer to 20% in Triple DoT teams.
Why Do Lights Bid Goodbye 7.7% 83% Most of Hysilens's Damage comes her Ultimate making the levels valuable.
Lo, How Time Flows By 19.7% 119.1% Uncharacteristically strong E4. Very good for Team DPS.
In Ablution, I Hum and Sigh 3.3% 126.3% Hysilens Trace and Skill do not contribute much to her overall damage making this weak. The increased DEF Reduction is most of this power.
When to Return From Where You Lie 22.7% 177.6% Very strong Eidolon. Can be up to 30% in teams with more DoTs where you can reach the new cap.
