Introductions

Hook is a 4-Star character with the Fire element who follows the Path of Destruction. Hook is a single target DPS who can also deal blast damage through her enhanced skill. In addition to dealing decent amounts of single target damage, Hook also inflicts enemies with a "Burn" debuff where they take Fire DoT. Burn is a core part of her kit and contributes significantly to her overall damage output.
Our Hook Build Guide will show you the best Light Cones, Relics, and team compositions to help you build the best Pitch-Dark Hook the Great.

Hook's Best Light Cone

Listed below are the Light Cones we recommend for Hook.

On the Fall of an Aeon
S5
When the wearer attacks, increases their ATK by 8.0 / 10.0 / 12.0 / 14.0 / 16.0% in this battle. This effect can stack up to 4 time(s). After the wearer breaks an enemy's Weakness, increases DMG dealt by 12.0 / 15.0 / 18.0 / 21.0 / 24.0%, lasting for 2 turn(s).

On the Fall of an Aeon is a 5-star Light Cone and Hook's best option. This Light Cone increases her ATK, stacking up to 64% and also further buffs her DMG after breaking weaknesses.
Thus Burns the Dawn
S1
The wearer's base SPD increases by 12 / 14 / 16 / 18 / 20. When dealing DMG, ignores 18.0 / 22.5 / 27.0 / 31.5 / 36.0% of the target's DEF. After the wearer uses Ultimate, gains "Blazing Sun," which is removed at the start of the turn. While holding "Blazing Sun," increases the wearer's DMG dealt by 60.0 / 78.0 / 96.0 / 114.0 / 132.0%.

Sources: Event Warp (limited)
Another strong, albeit expensive option for Hook with the SPD increase allowing Hook to more easily keep Burn uptime on top of the other buffs this Light Cone provides.
A Trail of Bygone Blood
S5
Increases the wearer's CRIT Rate by 12.0 / 14.0 / 16.0 / 18.0 / 20.0%. The Skill DMG and Ultimate DMG dealt by the wearer increase by 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0 / 36.0 / 40.0%.

Sources: Nameless Glory
Hook's best 4-Star Light Cone option buffing CRIT Rate, Skill DMG and Ultimate DMG.
Something Irreplaceable
S1
Increases the wearer's ATK by 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0 / 36.0 / 40.0%. When the wearer defeats an enemy or is hit, immediately restores HP equal to 8.0 / 9.0 / 10.0 / 11.0 / 12.0% of the wearer's ATK. At the same time, the wearer's DMG is increased by 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0 / 36.0 / 40.0% until the end of their next turn. This effect cannot stack and can only trigger 1 time per turn.

Woof! Walk Time!
S5
Increases the wearer's ATK by 10.0 / 12.5 / 15.0 / 17.5 / 20.0%, and increases their DMG to enemies afflicted with Burn or Bleed by 16.0 / 20.0 / 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0%. This also applies to DoT.

Sources: Mission Reward, Forgotten Hall Store, Echo of War
A great F2P option if you do not have On the Fall of an Aeon buffing both Hook's Burn and also her damage in general.
The Moles Welcome You
S5
When the wearer uses Basic ATK, Skill, or Ultimate to attack enemies, the wearer gains one stack of Mischievous. Each stack increases the wearer's ATK by 12.0 / 15.0 / 18.0 / 21.0 / 24.0%.

Under the Blue Sky
S5
Increases the wearer's ATK by 16.0 / 20.0 / 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0%. When the wearer defeats an enemy, the wearer's CRIT Rate increases by 12.0 / 15.0 / 18.0 / 21.0 / 24.0% for 3 turn(s).

Sources: Stellar Warp
Under the Blue Sky enhances Hook's ATK up to 32% and can provide a significant 24% CRIT Rate boost if enemies are defeated by Hook. Because this effect lasts for 3 turns, it can have high uptime causing you to overcap on CRIT Rate or force you to build around it.
A Secret Vow
S5
Increases DMG dealt by the wearer by 20.0 / 25.0 / 30.0 / 35.0 / 40.0%. The wearer also deals an extra 20.0 / 25.0 / 30.0 / 35.0 / 40.0% of DMG to enemies whose current HP percentage is equal to or higher than the wearer's current HP percentage.

Best Relics and Planar Ornaments for Hook

Best Relics for Hook

These are the best Relic sets for Hook.

Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters
2-Piece Set: Increases DMG dealt to enemies with debuffs by 12.0%.
4-Piece Set: Increases CRIT Rate by 4.0%. The wearer deals 8.0%/12.0% increased CRIT DMG to enemies with at least 2/3 debuffs. After the wearer inflicts a debuff on enemy targets, the aforementioned effects increase by 100%, lasting for 1 turn(s).
Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters is Hook's BiS 4-piece Relic set. Because it requires 2/3 debuffs on enemies to gain the full effects, this set performs worse in teams that do not apply enough debuffs.
Scholar Lost in Erudition
2-Piece Set: Increases CRIT Rate by 8.0%.
4-Piece Set: Increases DMG dealt by Skill and Ultimate by 20.0%. After using Ultimate, additionally increases the DMG dealt by the next Skill by 25.0%.
Generally Hook's next best set in teams where she cannot fulfil the debuff requirements of Pioneers.
Prisoner in Deep Confinement
2-Piece Set: Increases ATK by 12.0%.
4-Piece Set: For every DoT the enemy target is afflicted with, the wearer will ignore 6.0% of its DEF when dealing DMG to it. This effect is valid for a max of 3 DoTs.
Prisoner in Deep Confinement is another decent option for Hook especially in teams that can consistently apply multiple DoT effects, this DEF ignore effect significantly increases Hook's damage against affected enemies.
Firesmith of Lava-Forging
2-Piece Set: Increases Fire DMG by 10.0%.
4-Piece Set: Increases DMG by the wearer's Skill by 12.0%. After unleashing Ultimate, increases the wearer's Fire DMG by 12.0% for the next attack.

Best Planar Ornaments

Rutilant Arena
2-Piece Set: Increases the wearer's CRIT Rate by 8.0%. When the wearer's current CRIT Rate reaches 70.0% or higher, DMG dealt by Basic ATK and Skill increases by 20.0%.
Rutilant Arena is a strong Planar Ornament set for Hook. While a decent build should have no issues hitting the 70% CRIT Rate requirement, you want to be careful not to overcap on CRIT Rate either.
Inert Salsotto
2-Piece Set: Increases the wearer's CRIT Rate by 8.0%. When the wearer's current CRIT Rate reaches 50.0% or higher, the DMG dealt by the wearer's Ultimate and Follow-Up ATK increases by 15.0%.
Inert Salsotto is another solid Planar Ornament set for Hook also providing an additional effect after hitting a certain CRIT Rate like Rutilant. However, Hook only really benefits from the Ultimate DMG increase.
Space Sealing Station
2-Piece Set: Increases the wearer's ATK by 12.0%. When the wearer's SPD reaches 120 or higher, the wearer's ATK increases by an extra 12.0%.
Another viable Planar Ornament option for Hook. Since Hook typically aims for at least 134 SPD, meeting this requirement is generally not an issue. However, it's still important to keep in mind when building her.

Hook Build Comments

Hook is a single target Fire DPS who can also deal AoE Blast damage through her Enhanced Skill. Her kit focuses on applying Burn to enemies and taking advantage of that effect for additional damage and support. Once a target is Burning, Hook's Talent adds extra Fire damage to her attacks while also regenerating 5 Energy, allowing her Ultimate to become available more frequently over the course of a fight.

Using her Ultimate enhances her next Skill, increasing its damage and adding limited AoE potential against nearby enemies. The rotation is straightforward and easy to understand, making Hook an accessible DPS option, with a simple and consistent play style that focuses on maintaining Burn and dealing steady damage.

Hook's Bonus Traces improve survivability and consistency by providing minor self-healing, increased resistance to crowd control effects and extra Energy alongside an Action Advance after using her Ultimate. These effects help maintain steady combat and keep her enhanced attacks available more often.

Hook's Eidolons further strengthen her Burn focused play style by increasing damage, extending Burn duration and allowing Burn to spread more effectively to adjacent enemies. At higher Eidolon levels, she becomes a noticeably more reliable and able damage dealer.

While she has been overtaken by more recent and stronger Fire characters, Hook remains a solid choice for players who need accessible Fire damage, particularly in fights centred around defeating a single Fire weak enemy.

Hook's Best Teams

To learn all about Hook's synergies and best team compositions, check out our dedicated Hook team page below:

Hook's Best Eidolons

  • E6 – Hook's E6 increases the DMG she deals to enemies afflicted with Burn by 20%. Since Hook can consistently apply Burn, this bonus has excellent uptime and provides a reliable increase to her overall damage output.
  • E1 – Hook's E1 increases the DMG dealt by her Enhanced Skill by 20%. Since her Enhanced Skill is one of her main sources of heavy damage, this Eidolon provides a simple and consistent boost to her overall damage output.
  • E4 – Eidolon 4 makes it so when her Talent is triggered, there is a 100% base chance to inflict Burn on enemies adjacent to the target enemy. This improves her ability to spread her Burn debuff in multi-target situations, increasing both her overall damage output and the consistency of her Burn uptime.
  • E2 – The duration of the Burn debuff is extended by 1 turn when it is inflicted by Hook's Skill. This improves the consistency and uptime of her DoT effect, allowing her to maintain Burn on enemies more reliably.
