Sampo is a 4-Star Wind Character following the Path of Nihility. Sampo excels as a DoT character quickly building and sustaining up to five stacks of Wind Shear with impressive damage scaling. On top of that he can also inflict significant Toughness damage.

Lies Dance on the Breeze
Increases the wearer's SPD by 18.0 / 21.0 / 24.0 / 27.0 / 30.0%. After the wearer uses an attack, there is a 120.0% base chance to inflict the "Bamboozle" state on every enemy target. While under the "Bamboozle" state, enemy targets have their DEF decreased by 16.0 / 18.0 / 20.0 / 22.0 / 24.0% for 2 turn(s). If the wearer's SPD is higher than or equal to 170, there is a 120.0% base chance to inflict the "Theft" state on every enemy target. While under the "Theft" state, enemy targets have their DEF decreased by 8.0 / 9.0 / 10.0 / 11.0 / 12.0% for 2 turn(s). When "Bamboozle" or "Theft" is repeatedly inflicted, only the most recently inflicted instance takes effect.

This is Sampo's best 5-Star Lightcone. The substantial Speed boost lets him act more frequently, helping him stack and refresh Wind Shear consistently while increasing overall DMG output. After each attack, he has a strong chance to apply a DEF reduction to all enemies, which significantly amplifies both his own DoT and his teammates DMG. If his Speed reaches a high threshold, he can inflict an additional DEF reduction effect further increasing team wide DMG.
Holiday Thermae Escapade
Increases the wearer's DMG dealt by 16.0 / 20.0 / 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0%. After the wearer attacks, there is a 100% base chance to inflict the attacked target with Vulnerability, increasing the DMG they receive by 10.0 / 11.5 / 13.0 / 14.5 / 16.0% for 2 turn(s). Effects of the same type cannot stack.

This 4-Star Lightcone is a great choice for Sampo as it increases his overall DMG as well as having the chance to inflict vulnerability increasing his DMG even further.
Patience Is All You Need
Increases DMG dealt by the wearer by 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0 / 36.0 / 40.0%. After every attack launched by wearer, their SPD increases by 4.8 / 5.6 / 6.4 / 7.2 / 8.0%, stacking up to 3 times. If the wearer hits an enemy target that is not afflicted by Erode, there is a 100% base chance to inflict Erode to the target. Enemies afflicted with Erode are also considered to be Shocked and will receive Lightning DoT at the start of each turn equal to 60.0 / 70.0 / 80.0 / 90.0 / 100% of the wearer's ATK, lasting for 1 turn(s).

These are the best Relic Sets to build for Sampo.

Prisoner in Deep Confinement
2-Piece Set: Increases ATK by 12.0%.
4-Piece Set: For every DoT the enemy target is afflicted with, the wearer will ignore 6.0% of its DEF when dealing DMG to it. This effect is valid for a max of 3 DoTs.
Sampo's Best 4-Piece Relic Set. This 4-piece set is great for Sampo as being a DoT character each DoT the enemy is afflicted with will ignore 6% of the enemies DEF upon inflicting DMG. This can be stacked up to a total of 3 DoT rounds. As a DPS this is great for Sampo as his main focus is inflicting as much DMG for as long as possible.
Eagle of Twilight Line
2-Piece Set: Increases Wind DMG by 10.0%.
4-Piece Set: After the wearer uses their Ultimate, their action is Advanced Forward by 25.0%.
This as a 4-Piece set is another great choice for Sampo. As a Wind character this set provides not only increased elemental DMG by 10% but also advances their next action by 25% upon the use of their ultimate.

Best Planar Ornaments

Revelry by the Sea
2-Piece Set: Increases the wearer's ATK by 12.0%. When the wearer's ATK is higher than or equal to 2400/3600, increases the DoT DMG dealt by 12.0%/24.0% respectively.
This is considered Sampo's best Planar Ornament Set providing Sampo with an additional 12% ATK. If their ATK % is higher than 2400/3600 it increases his DoT DMG by 12%/24%. Sampo should easily meet the first requirement due to his build wanting an ATK % of at least 2800+ beforehand.
Firmament Frontline: Glamoth
2-Piece Set: Increases the wearer's ATK by 12.0%. When the wearer's SPD is equal to or higher than 135/160, the wearer deals 12.0%/18.0% more DMG.
This Planar Set is next in line to be one of Sampo's best sets. This set provides him with increased 12% ATK as well as a further increased DMG when his SPD is greater or equal to 135/160 which should be built around.
Space Sealing Station
2-Piece Set: Increases the wearer's ATK by 12.0%. When the wearer's SPD reaches 120 or higher, the wearer's ATK increases by an extra 12.0%.

Character Synergy Main DPS vs Sub DPS

Character Synergy

When it comes to Synergy for Sampo the all time go to best partner would be Kafka. Kafka is the best DoT facilitator as she can use her Skill and Ultimate to provide stronger Wind Shear DMG which Sampo cannot do unless he is at E6, as well as can increase all allies DoT with her E1/ E2 to enemies.

Main DPS vs Sub DPS

Sampo shines the most as a Sub-DPS/ DoT character as he focuses mainly on providing Wind Shear DMG as well as debuffing enemies in order for them to take increased DoT. This is what makes him a perfect partner with Kafka. Although he has the ability to take on the role as Main DPS (mainly carried by superbreak), he does not have a high amount of DMG potential and would most likely need a lot of time invested into him to get him to a level where he would be a reliable and solid Main DPS.

Sampo's Best Eidolons

Listed below are the recommended Eidolon focuses for Sampo. There are 3 main Eidolons to focus on with Sampo which are E1, E4 and E6. In particular you will want to mainly focus on E4 and E6 as these provide you with increased Wind Shear DMG which plays a key role in how his character performs as a DPS/DoT character within a team.

E1 raises Sampo's overall DMG, Toughness damage and Energy Regeneration making it one of the most valuable early upgrades and a great pick. E2 ensures that when an enemy affected by Wind Shear is defeated that there is a guaranteed base chance to apply one stack of Wind Shear to all remaining enemies.

E4 is where it all starts to happen, here you can attack an enemy with more than 5 stacks of Wind Shear DMG. His Wind shear deals 8% per hit which overall deals a significant amount of 48% DMG to his enemies.

Lastly with E6 Sampo gains 15% DMG Multiplier which remains permanently for Wind Shear dealing an even more significant amount of 72% ATK per hit up to 5 stacks. This can ultimately provide Sampo with a total of 360% Wind Shear.
