Character Explanation
Ashveil is a strong follow-up attack based unit that can be played as both a Main and Sub DPS. Ashveil’s primary gameplay focuses around 3 key terms - Charge, Bait, and Gluttony.
When Ashveil uses his skill, he will mark a target as Bait. Bait targets are also automatically marked at the start of combat, selecting whoever has the least amount of max HP. While a Bait target is on the field, all enemies have 40% reduced defense. When Ashveil uses his skill on a Bait target, he will deal additional damage and regenerate one SP, making his skill SP neutral. Skilling a unit that isn’t currently marked by bait will shift the debuff to the new target. When the Bait target is hit by other allies, Ashveil generates 8 fixed energy (not affected by energy regeneration boosts), and will consume a stack of Charge to launch a follow-up attack on the bait target. This attack will also generate 2 stacks of Gluttony, which are used for his ultimate.
Ashveils ultimate launches an attack on a single target and marks them with Bait if they aren’t marked already. This is another SP neutral way for Ashveil to change his Bait target, but more importantly, it recharges 3 stacks of Charge so he can launch more follow-up attacks.
More interestingly, Ashveil’s ultimate additionally launches an enhanced follow-up attack that consumes Gluttony to deal additional hits, with every 4 stacks launching an extra attack. If the enhanced follow-up kills the target, bait is automatically reset to the lowest HP target on the field, and the damage will retarget alongside Bait instead. This means that the damage from the enhanced follow-up attack will continue to retarget enemies on the field until all stacks are consumed or all enemies are dead. Killing enemies during a follow-up attack also regenerates a stack of Gluttony for Ashveil, which does count the enhanced follow-up attack.
In both Main DPS and Sub DPS setups, Ashveil’s gameplay loop in combat will be to apply Bait to the right targets, build stacks of Gluttony through using his Skill for free on the Bait target, and allowing units on his team to launch his follow-up attacks through hitting the Bait target. When he has his Ultimate up, launch it to deal massive damage and kill off any smaller targets left on the field afterwards and repeat. Ashveil’s teammates should prioritize focusing on Bait targets to help him generate energy and Gluttony stacks for his ultimate. Ashveil applies additional follow-up related buffs when he is on the field, so it is best to pair him up with units who follow-up attack frequently to proc his traces and generate stacks.
Build Advice
Ashveil’s build can change slightly depending on the content and whether or not he is being played as a main or a Sub DPS, but it generally follows the same stat priorities. In Sub-DPS setups, Ashveil can be a bit more lenient with his stat goals since another unit will be doing most of the team's damage. Here, it is more viable to run SPD boots and aim for maximizing his Crit stats then trying to squeeze out every last source of damage from substats, and switching out his Damage% Sphere for an ATK% Sphere is fine as well.
As a main DPS, it is best to run ATK% Boots with a Lightning% DMG Orb and an ATK% Rope, as this maximizes his damage. We skip out on Energy Regeneration Rope because it doesn’t work with Ashveil’s fixed energy regeneration when allies hit Bait targets, and the ATK% gives him a large damage boost. The Rope can still be situationally run as a Energy Regeneration% Rope in content where there are many side targets that can be killed by Gluttony, such as Pure Fiction and Divergent Universe. In setups running Sunday or Bronya, try to get a -1 SPD setup at 135 and the supports at 134 if possible to maximize the effectiveness of the action advance. This is less important if you run with Remembrance Trailblazer, but 134 is still a good threshold to aim for if possible to gain more turns in endgame content.

Ashveil's Best Eidolons
Ashveil's first two Eidolons are his most efficient Eidolons with his first specifically being quite strong if you want to run him as Sub-DPS. Between getting his S1 or E1 in this role, We'd suggest the S1 due to its increase in Ashveil's personal damage and buffs as a sub-DPS. His E1 would be his next investment, providing a strong vulnerability aura to all enemies on the field. While not the best eidolon, his E2 can increase his Follow-up attack frequency by a decent amount, and would be the next stopping point before his maximum investment at E6.
