Balance Druid Guide for Mists of Pandaria Classic
Balance is a ranged DPS specialization with the unique
Eclipse
mechanic and Lunar / Solar energy resources that brings multiple caster buffs to
the raid group and high spread area damage potential due to their multiple damage
over time effects and
Starfall being able to hit all targets in a large
area around you regardless of them being stacked together or not.
Their gear is also heavily shared with Restoration Druids, which is very helpful if you want to off-spec healer.
Is Balance Druid Viable in Mists of Pandaria Classic?
Balance Druids have a faster baseline rotation in Mists due to
Euphoria
speeding your transition between
Eclipse states, but are still one of the
lowest performing single target DPS specializations.
Despite this, their two strong damage over time effects
Moonfire and
Sunfire make Balance excellent at dealing with multiple spread targets,
especially when
Celestial Alignment and
Starfall are also available!
High area damage with
Starfall and multi-dotting
Moonfire and
Sunfire;Shared gear with Restoration allows for easy swapping between damage and healing between encounters;
Great utility with
Stampeding Roar,
Typhoon,
Rebirth, and
Innervate.
Weak single target damage when compared to the top specializations;
Low baseline survivability, with the most powerful tools coming from specific uses of
Symbiosis;Mobility is very weak for single target, as dealing damage requires near-constant casting in order to progress through
Eclipses as quickly as possible.
Best Races for Balance Druid
Trolls are the best Horde race, bringing
Berserking and
Beast Slaying
which have no equivalent counterpart on Taurens.
Alliance Druids should roll Worgen as they are vastly superior to Night
Elf due to
Darkflight and
Viciousness.
Best Professions for Balance Druid
Engineering —
Engineering is the best PvE profession in the game due to the extra burst DPS afforded
by
Synapse Springs, and mobility increase of
Nitro Boosts.
Tailoring —
Tailoring is also a great PvE profession due to
Lightweave Embroidery which
is less controllable than Synapse, but fairly predictable due to its internal cooldown,
allowing you to stack its large Intellect boost with your DPS cooldowns and Synapse.
