Feral Druid Guide for Mists of Pandaria Classic
Feral Druid is now a pure melee DPS specialization. In previous expansions,
Feral allowed for both melee DPS and tanking roles in a single spec, but its new
focus allows it to be even more Cat Form focused, removing the hybrid nature
that made Feral Tanks great at off-tanking.
Regardless, most gear is still shared between the specializations, making them pair well together.
Is Feral Druid Viable in Mists of Pandaria Classic?
Feral Druids can do huge damage, especially once they unlock Rune of Re-Origination
from Throne of Thunder. They are also one of the most complex DPS to play, as they
mix Energy and Combo Points with many damage over time effects.
Finally, Druids are a strong leveling class and world / stealth farmer, for players
who enjoy the soloing lifestyle.
Excellent damage potential when played well in both single and area damage scenarios, especially once
Rune of Re-Origination is obtainable;
High survivability with
Survival Instincts,
Barkskin, and
Bear Form plus related defensive abilities;
Good utility with
Stampeding Roar,
Rebirth, and
Innervate.
No longer strong at off-tanking in Feral spec, as almost all tanking tools were separated into the new Guardian spec;
Relies on being behind bosses to hit with main damage ability
Shred, which is a problem on bosses such as Sinestra;
High skill-cap class, requiring good Energy and DoT management, with multiple advanced techniques for filling in global cooldown gaps.
Best Races for Feral Druid
Trolls are the best Horde race, bringing Berserking and
Beast Slaying
which have no equivalent DPS counterpart on Taurens.
Alliance Druids should roll Worgen as they are vastly superior to Night
Elf due to Darkflight and
Viciousness.
Best Professions for Feral Druid
Engineering — Engineering is the best PvE profession in the game due to the extra burst DPS afforded by
Synapse Springs, and mobility increase of
Nitro Boosts.
Tailoring — Tailoring is also a great PvE profession due to
Swordguard Embroidery which is less controllable than Synapse, but fairly predictable due to its internal cooldown, allowing you to stack its large Attack Power boost with your DPS cooldowns and Synapse.
