If you have not already, we recommend going through the Spell Summary guide first. Knowing how each spell and ability works in detail will greatly increase your understanding of the rotation suggestions below.

Single-Target Rotation AoE Rotation
2.1.

Single-Target Rotation

Make sure to use the Windfury Weapon Icon Windfury Weapon weapon imbue on your main-hand weapon and Flametongue Weapon Icon Flametongue Weapon on your off-hand weapon, and keep Lightning Shield Icon Lightning Shield buffed on yourself.

The priority list for Enhancement Shaman is as follows:

  1. Keep Searing Totem Icon Searing Totem active and shooting unless Fire Elemental Totem Icon Fire Elemental Totem is active;
  2. Cast Stormstrike Icon Stormstrike on cooldown and use Ascendance Icon Ascendance when available immediately after to reset its cooldown;
  3. Use Lava Lash Icon Lava Lash on cooldown;
  4. Cast Lightning Bolt Icon Lightning Bolt when you hit 3+ Maelstrom Weapon Icon Maelstrom Weapon stacks, making sure to finish casting it before your next auto-attack;
  5. Use Unleash Elements Icon Unleash Elements on cooldown, followed by Flame Shock Icon Flame Shock;
  6. Use Earth Shock Icon Earth Shock if nothing else applies.
2.2.

AoE Rotation

Against multiple enemies follow the single-target rotation, but swap Lightning Bolt Icon Lightning Bolt for Chain Lightning Icon Chain Lightning.

Use Fire Nova Icon Fire Nova on cooldown once you have 4+ targets with Flame Shock Icon Flame Shock, courtesy of Lava Lash Icon Lava Lash spreading mechanic.

Finally, when fighting 5 or more enemies for an extended period of time, swap to Glyph of Chain Lightning Icon Glyph of Chain Lightning ahead of time for maximum damage!

3.

Cooldowns

Fire Elemental Totem Icon Fire Elemental Totem, Feral Spirit Icon Feral Spirit, and Ascendance Icon Ascendance are all powerful cooldowns which should be used on cooldown if there will be enemies present for their full duration. Try to also stack their usage with temporary buffs from trinket procs, Bloodlust Icon Bloodlust / Heroism Icon Heroism and Virmen's Bite Icon Virmen's Bite.

Shamanistic Rage Icon Shamanistic Rage is both your main defensive and a Mana conservation tool. Due to its very short 1-minute cooldown you can use it on cooldown for the most part, but make sure to delay its usage whenever there will be high raid damage mechanics coming up shortly. Astral Shift Icon Astral Shift is a new defensive talent which can be used whenever Shamanistic Rage is not available to cover incoming damage.

Remember to use your utility abilities as well:

  • Stormlash Totem Icon Stormlash Totem should be used in a rotation with the rest of the Shamans in the raid;
  • Bloodlust Icon Bloodlust / Heroism Icon Heroism for a massive temporary raid Haste buff;
  • Earthbind Totem Icon Earthbind Totem to slow nearby enemies and allow for kiting;
  • Wind Shear Icon Wind Shear to help interrupt important casts;
  • Grounding Totem Icon Grounding Totem to absorb enemy casts that Wind Shear cannot interrupt;
  • Windwalk Totem Icon Windwalk Totem to free allies from movement-impairing effects;
  • Maelstrom Weapon Icon Maelstrom Weapon stacks can be used to cast heals such as Healing Rain Icon Healing Rain, if needed;
  • Ancestral Swiftness Icon Ancestral Swiftness can be used for extra damage or off-healing casts without Maelstrom Weapon stacks;
  • Ancestral Guidance Icon Ancestral Guidance can be used for extra off-healing in emergencies.
