Mists of Pandaria Classic Subtlety Rogue Stat Priority
On this page, you will find out the optimal PvE stat priority for your Subtlety Rogue in Mists of Pandaria Classic. We first present the stat priority, before delving into more complex explanations.
Stat Priority for Subtlety Rogue
The stat priority for Subtlety
Rogue is as follows:
- Agility
- Hit Rating to cap (7.5%)
- Expertise Rating to cap(7.5%)
- Haste
- Critical Strike
- Mastery
Hit/Expertise
Hit and Expertise caps are your number one priority when gearing your Rogue. If an ability misses or is parried than you will not only not deal any damage but you will also not generate Combo Points and waste your Energy. Hit and Expertise are both soft capped at 7.5%, this soft cap meaning your abilities will no longer miss but any additional Hit rating will increase the chance of your Melee attacks hitting as you can still miss Auto Attacks at 7.5%, but reaching the Auto Attack hit cap of 27% is much less valuable than increasing our other secondary stats.
Agility
Agility increases the damage done by all of your damage dealing abilities as well as your auto-attacks. Agility typically grants
2 Attack Power and some Critical Strike rating but thanks to Sinister Calling each point of Agility becomes even more valuable.
You will rarely have to choose Agility over any of the secondary stats listed here but generally speaking your goal while
gearing is to maximize the amount of Agility available on your gear.
Haste
Haste is our most valuable secondary stat as a Subtlety Rogue. As a Subtlety Rogue you will have less tools to regenerate Energy
compared to the two other specs and while Energetic Recovery will provide a considerable amount of Energy throughout
an encounter we will focus on maximizing our Haste rating to allow us to cast as many Combo Point generating abilities
as possible. Most of our damage as a Subtlety Rogue will also be done inside of cooldown windows like
Shadow Dance so making sure we have
as much energy to spend as possible during these will be the key to maximizing your damage output. Haste will also increase your Attack Speed causing us
to apply poisons more often for an essentially free increase to our damage. 425 Haste rating grants 1% Haste
Critical Strike
Critical Strike is another strong secondary stat as an Subtlety Rogue. Critical Strikes cause both our auto attacks and abilities
to deal 200% damage which is a considerable increase to your damage but will also cause your Honor Among Thieves ability to activate,
adding a Combo Point to your target and allowing you to use more of your finishing abilities like
Rupture
or
Slice and Dice.
Mastery
Mastery: Executioner is your Mastery as a Subtlety Rogue, this increases the effectiveness of your Combo Point
spending abilities based on your current Mastery rating. This increases the damage of our
Eviscerate,
Crimson Tempest,
Rupture
and increases the duration of our
Slice and Dice greatly increasing the value of each of your Combo Points spent.
