1. Artifact Progression

Artifact Progression

The Warswords of the Valarjar open up with a number of immediate routes you can take your artifact, however, a lot of paths are walled off with very minor increases or non DPS oriented talents. Due to that, there is really only one path to follow.

2. Artifact Ability

The Warswords of the Valarjar come equipped with the ability Icon Odyn's Fury, which deals a huge burst of damage alongside a high damage DoT after, scaling with many of the short term buffs Fury has access to such as Enrage Icon Enrage. Due to this, it makes it a great ability to stack with cooldowns for high burst, and with it being an AoE effect, is a great on demand burst AoE tool in any multi target situation.

2.1. Recommended Path

The path outlined here aims for both Icon Odyn's Champion and Icon Helya's Wrath early, as there are no inefficient traits along the way, alongside both traits having a large impact on not only output but rotational consistency. As many of the single target traits cross over and impact multi target, this further solidifies the build as the go to.

  1. Icon Odyn's Fury
  2. Icon Thirst for Battle
  3. Icon Unstoppable
  4. Icon Unrivaled Strength
  5. Icon Raging Berserker
  6. Icon Focus In Chaos
  7. Icon Wrath and Fury
  8. Icon Odyn's Champion
  9. Icon Helya's Wrath
  10. Icon Deathdealer
  11. Icon Juggernaut
  12. Icon Sense Death
  13. Icon Battle Scars
  14. Icon Rage of the Valarjar
  15. Icon Wild Slashes
  16. Icon Uncontrolled Rage
  17. Icon Bloodcraze

This path takes advantage of the freedom in the artifact, aiming for the most impactful traits whilst avoiding those that have no impact. Rushing to Icon Odyn's Champion is not only powerful due to the trait itself, but the bonuses acquired along the way that benefit your core rotational abilities. Whilst Icon Sense Death is slightly weaker than Icon Rage of the Valarjar, the wall of Icon Battle Scars makes the point investment significantly higher. That said, it can be foregone in favor of rushing Icon Rage of the Valarjar if desired.

A note with the build is that it is optimised toward reaching the best 20 point build you can achieve before Emerald Nightmare releases, which is the ideal breakpoint. This further incentivizes going to Icon Juggernaut second and moving on to Icon Sense Death, as your second golden trait, as this lands at 20 traits exactly, and has great applications in raid situations.

3. Relic Choice

As with many classes when deciding on Relics, Item Level is the most important in your decision, and going for the highest regardless of trait will generally serve as the best rule. If you have two Relics that share the exact same Item Level, the following traits are ideally ones to look for:

  1. Icon Wrath and Fury
  2. Icon Unrivaled Strength
  3. Icon Raging Berserker
  4. Icon Uncontrolled Rage (open world content)

Other Relic traits boost very low impact traits, and as such should be avoided if you have the option to do so.
