FAQAre There High-Priority Vault Items?

In Midnight Season 2 there are some changes to the Great Vault, namely Heroic Venomous Abyss awards Myth-track 1/6 gear, and Mythic awards 6/6. This means that you can either get loot you would not be able to loot on Myth-track, or save a lot of Crests. It can sometimes mean you can pick items from Bosses and Dungeons who only have a single desireable item, without risking having to spend several Nebulous Voidcores (Bonus rolls) to get a single item. Below are a couple examples of high-value items that can be worth taking over extra Nebulous Voidcores.

• Keeper's Seething Core from Entombed Sentinels is the only item you want from this boss long term.
• Aman'muso, Warlord's Vengeance and Zul'jin's Guillotine Technique from Heroic Coiled Altar can be worth it, especially if you already have the other item.
• Apex Brute's Claw Ring is the only item you want from Sszorak long term and can be worth taking.
• Any item that is the last you want from that Boss or Dungeon is a valueable pick.

• Aman'muso, Warlord's Vengeance is the strongest weapon available this season, especially from Mythic with elevated item level. Drops from Coiled Altar.
• Gaze of the Coiled Watcher from Ula'tek is a potent head item with a proc that gives Haste at the cost of other stats.
• Aqirbane Reliquary is a Neck item with a strong Critical Strike proc that also drops from Ula'tek and is highly desireable.
• Voracious Heart of Ula'tek is our strongest active offensive trinket and drops from Ula'tek.

There are a great number of fairly good Trinkets available for Vengeance, and there are a few different kinds of set-ups that can work for us as a Tank specialization. For general value stat stick trinkets that offer permanent or high uptime buffs of stats are generally good offensively while offering consistent defensive value. For Annihilator pairing an on-use trinket with Metamorphosis can lead to strong burst damage. And if you want an additional defensive layer you can choose to use a defensive shield trinket.

Below are a list of trinkets filling these niches ranked based on how strong they are. Click on our ranking chart here to see if they are worth equipping. Trinkets absent from the list are generally C-tier or lower in power or cannot be looted on Myth-track.

Season 2 of Midnight keeps the Nebulous Voidcore system from Season 1 which can be used in dungeons or after killing a specific raid boss, and lets you gain a guaranteed piece of loot from that dungeon or raid boss. The item you get is random, but you can not get a duplicate item so using it again in a specific place will give you another chance on the remaining items.

The item you want to look for will depend a lot on the gear you already have available which will change for each individual player. Ideally you make sure you increase the odds of obtaining good Myth-track items, if possible in slots where you do not have a Myth-track item yet. Below are the items to try to target, unless you already have them:

Voidcore (Bonus Roll) Priority

1. Ula'tek on Mythic or Heroic for Myth Track Gaze of the Coiled Watcher and Aqirbane Reliquary.
2. Coiled Altar for Myth Track Aman'muso, Warlord's Vengeance.
3. Entombed Sentinels for Myth Track Keeper's Seething Core.
4. Remaining BiS List items or item level upgrades.

Crafting is a very useful way of getting access to high Item Level gear, with the ability to craft a high Item Level gear piece unlocking every other week during the Season.

Since you will be limited during Season 2 in how many items you can craft it is worth planning ahead what items can be useful to grab. Generally it is best to avoid crating in one of the five slots that are occupied by tier items. Below is a recommended order of crafting items:

Vengeance Crafted Gear Priority

• Spellbreaker's Warglaive with Hunter's Ritual Stone
• Silvermoon Agent's Utility Belt with Arcanoweave Lining
• Any item you do not have on Myth track yet.
• Silvermoon Agent's Deflectors with Arcanoweave Lining to replace the Spellbreaker's Warglaive when you have two better weapons.

You can use up to two items that are Embellished, items with additional bonus effects that empower your character. These are added to crafted gear by people who have mastered professions, adding the bonuses to items making them stronger.

Generally, as a tank your best Embellishments are options that grant you extra stats, since we benefit both offensively and defensively. And as of current tuning the two best options are:

• Hunter's Ritual Stone on a weapon, any weapon works, but Spellbreaker's Warglaive is the only crafted weapon that can be used by both Vengeance and Devourer Demon Hunter, so if you ever want to play Devourer it is the recommended option.
• Arcanoweave Lining, ideally on a low budget slot like Wrists, Cloak, or Belt.

Some items come with natural sockets, mainly Rings and Necklaces, but you can also add sockets to Helmets, Belts, and Wrist slot items using the Miasmic Jewelbinder which can be purchased with 6 tokens from The Great Vault. Since these are only obtainable once a week by not taking an item or a Nebulous Voidcore bonus roll you often only want to purchase them if you can upgrade an item that you will not replace for the rest of the season.

You will be able to upgrade your items via Crests, such as Veteran Mistcrest. Once you have upgraded a slot to a certain item level, upgrading other items of that slot to that item level is free.

When you upgrade with Crests, you should think of it as upgrading slots and not items.

Additionally, to speed up gearing, you will generally want to obtain the highest item-level possible before upgrading a given slot, as this means you will spend fewer Crests on that slot in total.

Below is the slot priority you should upgrade your items in. It is essentially based on "which slot gives the most DPS and survivability if you increase its Item Level".

Weapon (Main hand) ➜ Trinkets ➜ Helmet/Chest/Legs ➜ Shoulders/Gloves/Belt/Boots ➜ Rings/Neck

Note that exceptions are possible, such as special items that have strong additional effects on top of their normal stat budget like Aqirbane Reliquary or Gaze of the Coiled Watcher.

Throughout this page and elsewhere in our guide, we regularly refer to the importance of simming yourself on Raidbots. This is because every character is unique, and each gear piece you have access to can change what is best right now for you.

While we do offer recommendations for gear and trinkets, these are not complete replacements for simming yourself. The only way to truly optimize your character to that degree is by making use of the tools available!
