1.

Quality of Enchants, Gems, and Consumables in Dragonflight

With the new revamp to professions in Dragonflight, consumables, gems, and enchants all come in different qualities based on the skill of the crafter making it. There are three ranks for most consumables, gems, and enchants , where the power scales with the rank. For example Elemental Potion of Power Icon Elemental Potion of Power will give more stats than lower ranks of the same potion like Elemental Potion of Power Icon Elemental Potion of Power. This means that you will have to balance the level of your consumables against the gold you are willing to invest, but also that there are cheaper alternatives to every consumable.

1.1.

Incandescent Essence

This head enchant offers significant player power for free. Available from Amirdrassil in Season 3. If available in Season 4 you absolutely want to get your hands on Incandescent Essence Icon Incandescent Essence.

Best Gems for Vengeance Demon Hunters

  • Inscribed Illimited Diamond Icon Inscribed Illimited Diamond, you can only have one Primalist gem equipped at once.
  • Crafty Ysemerald Icon Crafty Ysemerald , for any remaining socket slot, you will want to use Critical Strike gems with some extra Haste, or whatever sims the highest if your goal is maximum damage.
3.

Best Enchants for Vengeance Demon Hunters

The following enchants increase damage or survivability. The general consensus is to lean more towards damage when survivability is not an issue. Offensive enchants are recommended for most content available. Decide which enchant is needed for the content you are playing and choose the rank depending on how long you are planning to use a certain item and how much gold you are willing to spend on it.

Consumables for Vengeance Demon Hunters

Starting in the Dragonflight you can change talents anywhere as long as you are not in combat or in an active Mythic+ dungeon. Therefore, you no longer need to use a Tome of the Still Mind Icon Tome of the Still Mind or Codex of the Still Mind Icon Codex of the Still Mind to change your talents. You also do not have to be in a rested area to be able to change them.

4.1.

Augment Runes

In Dragonflight, you can get Draconic Augment Rune Icon Draconic Augment Rune from completing dungeon or raid finder when tanks are in demand. This will generally yield you a handful of runes. These are likely going to be more expensive than the counterpart in previous expansions and are mostly recommended when you are in need of that extra amount of power in very challenging content.

4.2.

Phials and Potions for Vengeance Demon Hunters

4.2.1.

Phials

  • Iced Phial of Corrupting Rage Icon Iced Phial of Corrupting Rage for general usage.
4.2.2.

Potions

Weapon Runes and Sharpening Stones

Dragonflight introduces Runes crafted by people with the Inscription profession, which will augment your weapons for a brief period of time to gain additional secondary stats. They share their buff slot with Sharpening Stones, which increases your Attack Power by a fixed amount.

Runes comes in three variations, Howling Rune Icon Howling Rune, Hissing Rune Icon Hissing Rune and Buzzing Rune Icon Buzzing Rune. For general usage, Buzzing Rune is recommended due to the strength of Critical Strike for Vengeance. For damage, you should sim the Runes against Primal Whetstone Icon Primal Whetstone to determine which grants you the largest damage gain.

4.4.

Best Food

Food giving you Haste and Critical Strike is recommended as the food choice in solo content or when you are decently well-geared. Feasts and Deviled Eggs provide Agility. As of Season 4 the value of using Feisty Fish Sticks Icon Feisty Fish Sticks might be better than Deviously Deviled Eggs Icon Deviously Deviled Eggs. The difference will be relatively small and might depend on your talent setup and your gear. Run a simulation for damage to verify which performs better. Whichever does more for your damage likely also performs better defensively.

  • Feisty Fish Sticks Icon Feisty Fish Sticks (Haste and Critical Strike) or Deviously Deviled Eggs Icon Deviously Deviled Eggs (Agility)
  • Grand Banquet of the Kalu'ak Icon Grand Banquet of the Kalu'ak (Agility)
