The Eternal Bond is FFXIV's marriage system, where two players can become bonded to each other in a unique ceremony. This page contains information about how to initiate the Eternal Bond, in addition to the system's benefits and rewards.

1.

The Ceremony of Eternal Bonding

The Ceremony of Eternal Bonding, known by the acronym EB, is the marriage system in Final Fantasy XIV. The ceremony itself is an in-game event that anyone invited from your server can attend. With virtually no restrictions and the base package being free of charge, anyone can get married, as long as they have a willing partner, of course. You can learn more about the Eternal Bond on the official FFXIV site, but we have also collated all the information for you on this page.

2.

Overview

By completing the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding with your partner, you will receive benefits and rewards. The main benefit is the Eternity Ring Icon Eternity Ring, which allows you to teleport to your partner's location every 30 minutes, as long as they are not in an instance. Other commemorative rewards are also given at the end of the ceremony.

The ceremony is held in the Ivory Chapel, which is located at the Sanctum of the Twelve in the East Shroud. Guests can be invited and will receive unique rewards for their attendance!

2.1.

Requirements for Eternal Bond

Players can register for an Eternal Bond through the FFXIV Online Store. However, there are a few requirements players must meet before they can schedule a ceremony.

  1. Players must be at least level 50 in one job.
  2. Players must first complete the main scenario quest "The Scions of the Seventh Dawn."
  3. The two players must be on the same server and be in the same party.
  4. Both players must be physically located in the East Shroud.
  5. Both players must be equipped with a Promise Wristlet. This can be acquired from the Mog Station.

Once you meet these requirements, you can get married! There are no gender, race, or other restrictions on getting married to someone besides those listed above. After fulfilling these conditions, players can begin their journey by undertaking the quest "The Ties That Bind" from Claribel in the East Shroud. This quest takes the couple across Eorzea and requires them to acquire Flawless Band Icon Flawless Band, which can be crafted by a Goldsmith or bought on the marketboard. During this quest, players will be able to reserve a time and plan for their ceremony.

Eternal Bond Ceremony Plans

There are three different plans for a Ceremony of Eternal Bonding. Although the base plan is free, all three plans must be purchased from the FFXIV Online Store. Higher tiered plans give more rewards and have more ceremony options but are more expensive. Both players must have the same plan - if one has a lower plan, the ceremony will use the lower-tiered plan.

Planning Your Ceremony

After reaching a certain point in "The Ties That Bind," the couple can plan and schedule their ceremony. After doing so, they will be able to hold their ceremony and become officially bonded for eternity! They will also be able to purchase Ceremony Favors, which include cosmetic items such as the Heavenscracker Icon Heavenscracker.

3.1.

Registering

To schedule a ceremony, players must talk to Etoinelle outside of the Ivory Chapel. Based on what plan they have, players can start registering for timeslots starting Friday morning. Each timeslot lasts for two hours at most, but the ceremony itself can be shorter. Players can schedule up to two weeks ahead of the actual ceremony.

FFXIV Eternal Bond Ceremony Scheduling

If players wish to reschedule their ceremony, they can only do so by postponing it. Then, they can reschedule starting from the Friday following the initial reservation. Players can only start rescheduling one hour after Standard Plan couples have made their reservations, though this restriction is lifted two weeks after the initial reservation.

3.2.

Planning

To plan what the ceremony will entail, players must talk to Raitmeaux inside the Ivory Chapel. Based on the plan the couple has chosen, there may be multiple ceremony options. Each player must make their arrangements separately, meaning the couple must agree on their ceremony style before choosing their options in-game.

FFXIV Eternal Bond Ceremony Style Options

There are three style options to choose from. Any option can be chosen with any plan.

  1. The Lover's Kiss;
  2. The Spinner's Hand;
  3. The Solemn Oath.

The chapel itself can be decorated, with more options available from higher-tiered plans. Gold and Platinum plans can change the visible ornaments, fabric, and lighting as well.

  • White (All plans)
  • Pink (Gold and Platinum only)
  • Orange (Gold and Platinum only)
  • Blue (Platinum only)
  • Red (Platinum only)

The procession cutscenes can be changed if the couple has purchased a Gold or Platinum plan.

  • Enter the Ivory Chapel on foot (all plans)
  • Enchanted Gondola (Variation 1) (Gold and Platinum only)
  • Enchanted Gondola (Variation 2) (Platinum only)
  • Enchanted Gondola (Variation 3) (Platinum only)

Likewise, the recession cutscenes can be changed if the couple has purchased a Gold or Platinum plan.

  • Leave the Ivory Chapel on foot (all plans)
  • Leave the Ivory Chapel riding a Chocobo (Gold and Platinum only)

The couple can also decide who carries the bouquet during the ceremony. If they have a Gold or Platinum plan, players can change the music during the ceremony, with 12 BGMs to choose from.

3.3.

Inviting Guests

What would a wedding ceremony be without guests? After making a reservation for their ceremony, the two players will receive one Blank Invitation Icon Blank Invitation each. By using this item, the couple can generate invitations for their ceremony, which can be traded or mailed to guests! All guests must be of the same Home World, but level 1 characters can easily attend if they start in Gridania and are given a ride. Each player can generate up to 40 invitations for a total of 80 guests.

The couple needs the Blank Invitation to enter the ceremony, and any guests need the invitation in their inventory to attend. The invitation will contain the name of the player who gave it to you, as well as the time of the ceremony.

4.

How to Attend a Ceremony of Eternal Bonding

On the day and time of a ceremony, the couple and their guests may enter the Ivory Chapel by speaking with Etoinelle outside. The couple must have the Blank Invitation Icon Blank Invitation in their inventory, and guests must have a Ceremony Invitation Icon Ceremony Invitation. The hosts have twenty minutes to enter the Chapel, or else their ceremony will be postponed.

The couple must have one free slot in their inventory, as they will receive an Eternity Ring Icon Eternity Ring during the ceremony. Not having a free slot will also cause the ceremony to be postponed.

Upon entering the chapel, the player and their partner will be shown to separate dressing rooms to finalize their attire and the ceremony plan. They will have twenty minutes but can proceed to the ceremony by ringing the Eternity Bell at any time.

FFXIV Ceremony of Eternal Bonding

Afterwards, the ceremony will begin. We will not spoil what happens during the ceremony, so go find a partner and find out! After the conclusion of the ceremony, the quest "The Ties That Bind" can be completed, and the couple will receive their rewards based on the plan.

5.

Anniversary

After completing an Eternal Bond, players have the option to set an anniversary date with their partner! To do so, speak with Hawu Bajihri at the Sanctum of the Twelve to set or confirm the date. Every year, on or after this date, the couple becomes eligible to repeat the quest "The Ties That Bind," which includes holding another ceremony! The anniversary ceremony will have access to all options in the Platinum plan, regardless of the plan selected for the original ceremony. However, new rewards will not be given.

6.

Annulling an Eternal Bond

If you wish to annul your existing Eternal Bond, you can do so by talking to the Sanctum Acolyte and selecting "Annul an existing eternal bond." You must turn in the Eternity Ring present in your inventory, and the bond will be broken from your side. Note that this does not break the bond from your former partner.

7.

There are a multitude of rewards for the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding for hosts and guests alike. Players with the Gold or Platinum plan will receive the Ceremony Chocobo Whistle Icon Ceremony Chocobo Whistle, which allows them to obtain the two-seater Ceremony Chocobo mount!
