Introductions
Welcome to our team composition guide for Cyrene in Honkai: Star Rail. In this guide, we will explore the best teams to build for Cyrene, including recommended team compositions, character synergies and everything you need to know to let your Cyrene teams shine.
Best Synergies for Cyrene
Cyrene has great Synergy with each of the Chrysos Heirs, but she does have more Synergy with some specific characters more so than others. The characters below are in rough Synergy order which is not the same as the buff priority ordering for each Team. More information on the buffs and how they work generally can be found on our Character Page.
All units that are not Remembrance characters will be ranked lower for Synergy as they will generate less stacks of Remembrance for Cyrene which means that it will take longer for Cyrene to reach her first Ultimate making the team slightly less synergistic. This does not make these characters unplayable but it does weaken these teams, especially on shorter engagements.
Evernight
Evernight is a Remembrance Main/Sub DPS Character that deals strong damage while providing large buffs to her Allies. As a Remembrance character Evernight will stack Remembrance for Cyrene faster than non Remembrance units allowing for a faster first Ultimate and more frequent Ultimates after.
Evernight receives the buff Ode to Time which will improve CRIT DMG Percentage of Evernight's skill by 12% (at Lv6). This is a 50% increase to the CRIT DMG that Evernight provides for the entire team. Evernight will also deal 18% increased DMG with Dream, Dissolving, as Dew and generate 1 Memoria stack when using her Skill or Ultimate. All effects combined this is a incredible boost to power and is one of the best buffs Cyrene can provide.
Finally, the huge CRIT DMG buffs provided by Evernight will also increase Cyrene's own damage by a large amount making them synergise excellently with each other.
Remembrance Trailblazer
Remembrance Trailblazer is a Remembrance Support Character that buffs all allies with a large CRIT DMG buff and Action Advances as well as granting a CRIT Rate and True DMG buff to the teams Main DPS. The team-wide CRIT DMG buff boosts Cyrene's damage by a significant margin as she usually lacks CRIT DMG due to her focus on SPD. As a Remembrance character Remembrance Trailblazer will stack Remembrance for Cyrene faster than non Remembrance units allowing for a faster first Ultimate and more frequent Ultimates after.
Remembrance Trailblazer receives the buff Ode to Genesis which will grant a significant increase in ATK and CRIT Rate for them and their Memosprite Mem which adds a small amount of damage to the team. The main benefit of this buff is that Cyrene's Memosprite will gain an extra turn and automatically use Minuet of Blooms and Plumes every time Remembrance Trailblazer uses their Enhanced Basic ATK. Remembrance Trailblazer can use this once per Ultimate. These extra casts of Minuet of Blooms and Plumes can deal significant damage over the entire encounter.
Hyacine
Hyacine is a Remembrance Healer that buffs all allies with a Health Buff which will boost Cyrene's damage as well as improving her Survivability. As a Remembrance character Hyacine will stack Remembrance for Cyrene faster than non Remembrance units allowing for a faster first Ultimate and more frequent Ultimates after.
Hyacine receives 2 stacks of the buff Ode to Sky whenever Cyrene uses any Memosprite Skill, including buffing another Character, doing damage, or the automatic Skills from Ode to ██ or Ode to Genesis. This buff will increase the amount that Hyacine stores into her healing tally by a significant amount which results in a large damage increase. As this effect is completely passive and happens alongside other buff target choices it is incredible.
If the buff is used on Hyacine directly she will generate 24 energy in addition to the effects above. This is quite weak compared to other uses of Cyrene's Ultimate and should only be done if its absolutely necessary to stay alive.
Mydei
Mydei is a Destruction DPS that has no noteworthy Synergy with Cyrene outside of the buff that Cyrene provides. This is not an issue however as the however the buff provided is incredible!
Mydei receives the buff Ode to Strife. This will cause Mydei to immediately use Godslayer Be God, his strongest ability, without consuming any of his Charge with a large bonus to CRIT DMG. This is a massive increase to his DPS output and due to the control you have over the timing lets you sync it up with other powerful boosts like Cerydra's Coup de Grace.
The other effects provided can be ignored as Mydei is extremely rarely outside of Vendetta and you would wait for him to be in Vendetta before using Cyrene's Ultimate on him. Additionally, the removal of Crowd Control does nothing as Mydei is already immune to Crowd Control in Vendetta.
Hysilens
Hysilens is a Nihility DoT DPS that has limited Synergy with Cyrene outside of the buff that Cyrene provides. If you have Hysilens's Signature Lightcone Why Does the Ocean Sing then the SPD% buff provided by the Lightcone is a significant buff to Cyrene but is not necessary for the two to pair well together as Hysilens receives a very powerful buff from Cyrene.
Hysilens receives the buff Ode to Ocean. This will provide a massive 120% (at Lv6) DMG buff until the fight ends and allows her Basic ATK and Skill to cause all DoTs to immediately deal damage on every target hit. The Basic ATK will trigger DoTs at 60% of their original damage (at Lv6) and her Skill at 80% of their original damage. This is notably significant DPS increase on AoE as most of Kafka's DoT triggers are ST or Blast while Hysilens' Skill is AoE.
This will also apply an effect that grants a 60 Energy Regeneration on the first Attack after being buffed and this can be repeated throughout a fight to continually provide Hysilens with more Energy for more Ultimates and is recommended in DoT teams over attacking with Cyrene.
Aglaea
Aglaea is a Remembrance DPS. As a Remembrance character Aglaea will stack Remembrance for Cyrene faster than non Remembrance units allowing for a faster first Ultimate and more frequent Ultimates after.
Aglaea will receive the buff Ode to Romance which is a temporary buff that lasts until Aglaea exits the Supreme Stance state. The buff grants 72% DMG and 36% DEF Ignore to both Aglaea and her Memosprite. Additionally, this buff will immediately stack Garmentmaker's SPD boost to the maximum allowing you to skip ramp time if she was not already at maximum stacks and grant a one time 70 Energy Generation per use which makes maintaining Aglaea's Supreme Stance easier.
Aglaea is ranked slightly lower than the other Remembrance characters despite her powerful buff because she is slightly weaker than them.
Anaxa
Anaxa is an Erudition DPS that has no notable Synergy with Cyrene outside of the buff that Cyrene provides. This is fine as the buff provided by Cyrene is incredibly potent.
Anaxa receives the buff Ode to Reason. When used on Anaxa this will immediately recover 1 Skill Point for the team and Action Advance Anaxa. During Anaxa's Turn his Skill will deal 3 additional instances of damage (effectively 75% more damage). Anaxa will also increase the ATK of all Erudition characters by 60% (Lv6) and increase Skill Damage by 40% until the start of his next turn. All of these buffs combined over double Anaxa's damage output.
Cipher
Cipher is an Nihility Support that works well with Cyrene as her Debuffs will boost Cyrene's damage along with the rest of the team.
Cipher receives the buff Ode to Trickery which will increase the damage Cipher deals by 36% (Lv6), decrease the DEF of the "Patron" by 20% (Lv6) and targets other than Cipher's "Patron" by 12% (Lv6). The increase damage done by Cipher does not do much but the DEF shred is a powerful team-wide damage multiplier.
Dan Heng Permansor Terrae
Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae is a Preservation Sustain Unit has no additional Synergy with Cyrene outside of the Unique buff that Cyrene provides.
Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae receives 3 stacks of the buff Ode to Earth. While Dan Heng has this buff the ally with Bondmate gains 24% DMG (Lv6). Additionally, every time Souldragon attacks it will deal additional damage equal to 80% (Lv6) of the shield on the Bondmate. As this effect is completely passive and happens alongside other buff target choices this is a very good perk that just increases Team Damage.
If the buff is used on Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae directly then Souldragon will immediately Action Advance, gain the enhancement effect of Dan Hengs Ultimate and apply a Shield at 150% Effectiveness. As this does not deal much damage we do not recommend intentionally buffing Dan Heng unless you urgently need the shield to survive.
Dan Heng is placed lower than Hyacine despite having a similar benefit because Dan Heng has inherently less Synergy with Cyrene as he does not increase Cyrene's damage, only the Bondmate. Furthermore, since he is not a Remembrance character he will generate less stacks of Remembrance which means a slower Ultimate and less frequent additional Ultimates.
Cerydra
Cerydra is an Harmony Support that has no additional Synergy with Cyrene outside of the unique buff that Cyrene provides.
Cerydra receives the buff Ode to Law. This will cause Cerydra to generate 1 charge after Coup de Main ends, effectively making it only need 5 Charge per double skill instead of 6. This also increases the CRIT DMG of the target with Military Merit by 30% (At Lv6). When combined this is a very potent increase to the support capabilities of Cerydra.
Castorice
Castorice is a Remembrance DPS. Castorice has weaker has weaker Synergy with Cyrene compared to other Remembrance characters as her unique Chrysos Heir buff from Cyrene is weaker. Notably though, Castorice does synergise well with the other Remembrance characters and is excellent with Evernight.
Castorice will receive the buff Ode to Life and Death which is a Permanent Buff that will allow Newbud to overflow up to 200%. The overflowed Newbud will increase the damage that Netherwing does with Wings Sweep the Ruins by 0.24% (At Lv6) for every 1% of the overflow value. This is tripled if there are 2 or less enemy targets on the field when Netherwing is Summoned.
At the maximum overflowed Newbud of 100% (200% displayed) this buff will provide approximately a 15% damage increase for an E0 Castorice scaling linearly to a 0% increase as the overflow decreases to 0% and up to three times that on low targets. This would be a pretty decent damage bonus but you are heavily incentivised to immediately cast Netherwing at the first available moment, so the overflow newbud is usually closer to 10-20%, giving you anywhere from 1.5-3% DPS increase which is very minor and worse than the default non Chrysos Heir DMG buff of 40% DMG.
Phainon
Phainon is an Destruction DPS that has heavy anti-Synergy with Cyrene. If you use Phainon's Ultimate it will cause all allies to depart which will prevent you from stacking up Cyrene's Ultimate. This means you will have to keep Phainon from transforming until Cyrene's Ultimate is ready to grant Phainon and his other allies Buffs.
Phainon receives the buff Ode to Worldbearing. This will immediately grant Phainon 6 Coreflame and the "Eternal Ignition" buff. When Phainon transforms he will gain a 12% (At Lv6) boost to CRIT DMG for his Coreflames in excess of 12, so with the default cap of 15 you get 36% CRIT DMG which is half of the maximum of 72% (At Lv6). Additionally, the "Eternal Ignition" buff will grant Phainon 16% CRIT Rate (At Lv6).
The main perk of the buff provided by Cyrene is that it makes Phainon's Transformation not end if his turns are depleted. He will instead refresh all of the extra turns and gain 4 points of Scourge as if he entered a fresh Ultimate.
Phainon will also take 15% of his Current HP which is an attempt to make you more incentivised to play Healer with permanent transformation Phainon. For some fights it is possible to still play Sustainless but for particularly high damage endgame fights we do recommend playing a Healer.
The buff also causes Phainon to do 5 instances of 10% (At Lv6) additional Fire damage whenever he attacks.
All of these effects combined lead to one of the most powerful buffs that can be provided to any of the Chyrsos Heirs but the inherent anti-Synergy makes this pairing considerably less potent as Phainon ends up spending the majority of the first Cycle doing nothing when he normally would have Transformed and finished his first Ultimate and if he does go into his Ultimate that just delays Cyrene's Transformation.
Tribbie
Tribbie is an Harmony Support that has no additional Synergy with Cyrene apart from the unique buff that Cyrene provides.
Tribbie receives the buff Ode to Passage. This buff allows Tribbie to ignore 12% DEF with her damage and makes her Follow-up ATK trigger the additional damage from her Ultimate Guess Who Lives Here's Zone an additional time. As this only adds a single additional hit this buff is most impactful on Single Target but the overall added damage is still quite low as it does not affect anyone other than Tribbie.
Due to the low power of this buff it is often better to avoid buffing Tribbie, especially on shorter fights, and just use Cyrene's Memosprite Skill attack Minuet of Blooms and Plumes which since it is enhanced by Ode to ██ deals significantly more damage.
With Cyrene's E2 A Tomorrow in Thirteen Shades it is worth buffing Tribbie to gain the extra 6% True DMG alongside the extra damage Tribbie herself would be doing with the regular effects of the Buff.
Cyrene's Best Teams
Cyrene is a powerful support unit that is best used alongside other Remembrance characters or Chrysos Heir for the most success.
This is not a comprehensive list of teams. The inclusion or exclusion of any given team does not necessarily reflect its power level. We have included several example teams that are more F2P friendly using 4★ characters that are lower power than the 5★ teams as examples. The Sustain Character in each team can be swapped out but we would strongly recommend using Hyacine for Health Scaling Teams and Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae for ATK Scaling Teams if they are available as they are significantly better than any alternative.
