Gems tend to be used to help hit the high Hit / Expertise caps for tanks, as they also have to worry about enemy Parries rather than just having to remove Misses and Dodges. Due to Bear Form Icon Bear Form granting 50% higher Crit scaling and Crit being great for Rage generation, we will be mostly using Critical Strike gems once Hit / Expertise caps are done.

Consumables

4.1.

Food

The best feast available early on is the Pandaren Banquet Icon Pandaren Banquet for 10-man groups and Great Pandaren Banquet Icon Great Pandaren Banquet for 25-man groups. Alternatively, or when min-maxing, you should use the best individual food, as those grant 450 Stamina.

  • Stuffed Lushrooms Icon Stuffed Lushrooms (individual)
  • Chun Tian Spring Rolls Icon Chun Tian Spring Rolls (individual)
  • Pandaren Banquet Icon Pandaren Banquet (10-man feast)
  • Great Pandaren Banquet Icon Great Pandaren Banquet (25-man feast)
4.2.

Flasks and Potions

Guardian Druids will prefer Mantid Elixir Icon Mantid Elixir plus Mad Hozen Elixir Icon Mad Hozen Elixir instead of a flask, but if you are going into progression and need to save gold, you might want to use a Flask of the Earth Icon Flask of the Earth, instead.

Virmen's Bite Icon Virmen's Bite is the best potion for Guardian, and should be paired with your offensive cooldowns or boss increased damage taken phases in order to maximize its benefit.

Master Healing Potion Icon Master Healing Potion can save your life in an emergency, so always keep some around as a complement to your class defensives.

4.3.

Bandages

Heavy Windwool Bandage Icon Heavy Windwool Bandage are rarely of use due to forcing you to channel for their healing, but if everything else fails they can still make a difference, so try to carry some around just in case.
