Holy Paladin Guide for Mists of Pandaria Classic
Holy Paladin specializes in single-target healing through Word of Glory and
Holy Shock
as well as
Beacon of Light, allowing players to keep allies out of danger at all times.
In addition to their single-target healing, Paladins offer absorb healing as well as many different
forms of utility to help deal with any situation.
Is Holy Paladin Viable in Mists of Pandaria Classic?
Holy Paladin finds itself in a tricky position in Mists of Pandaria. Due to Classic
releasing on the final patch of Mists of Pandaria, Holy Paladin will release being a shell of its former self.
Most notably, the heal over time portion of Eternal Flame no longer procs mastery, removing
much of what made Holy Paladin strong throughout Mists of Pandaria. While a
Selfless Healer playstyle
remains viable and quite good, Paladin tends to fall behind every other healer, and is massively out-performed
by Disc Priests and Resto Shamans. While Holy Paladin still has a place in many raid comps, it tends to be lower
priority and you will see many raid comps not have a Holy Paladin entirely. This shouldn't scare you away from
playing Holy Paladin, but just keep in mind the HPS limitations of the spec when playing.
Many powerful cooldown options:
Avenging Wrath,
Divine Favor, and even
Holy Avenger.
Offers raid wide damage reduction thanks to
Devotion Aura.
Strong utility to help party members:
Hand of Freedom,
Hand of Protection,
Hand of Sacrifice, and even
Hand of Salvation.
Powerful single target and tank healing.
Extremely smooth rotation with each abilitiy playing into the next, creating a fun and rewarding playstyle.
Lower healing output than other healers.
Despite offering absorb healing through
Illuminated Healing, it pales in comparison to the absorbs that Disc Priest provide.
Lacks some of the damage output of other healers.
Only two AoE heals and one of those (
Holy Radiance) can drain mana extremely quickly.
Best Races for Holy Paladin
As Horde, Blood Elf will be the best choice due to extra mana provided from Arcane Torrent.
More mana will allow you to be more aggressive with your spell usage.
As Alliance, the best choice will be Human due to The Human Spirit and the additional
rep granted, making early expansion grinds a bit more tolerable.
Best Professions for Holy Paladin
Engineering — Engineering is still one of the best Professions in the thanks to
Synapse Springs. Synapse Springs provide a ton of Intellect which pairs incredibly with our
Avenging Wrath. Additionally,
Nitro Boosts are also important because they will allow you to quickly reposition in emergency situations.
Blacksmithing — Lets you add an extra socket to both your Gloves and Bracers thanks to
Socket Gloves and
Socket Bracer.
