Dual Blades Changes in Title Update 2
Title update 2, released on June 30th brought two additional monsters to hunt in High Rank - Lagiacrus and Seregios, each with standard and tempered versions available. These both come with new weapons and armor sets to craft, and are available to hunt after HR31.
A quick breakdown of Dual Blades changes on this page as of the title update are as follows:
- The ideal armor set incorporates both Lagiacrus and Seregios pieces, alongside still using Gore Magala parts.
- The Lagiacrus weapon takes over as the go-to Thunder weapon to craft in appropriate match-ups.
- The Seregios weapon on the other hand provides far too little benefit due to the low number of bonus Sharpness hits provided by Bladescale Honing, even when played perfectly.
Arch-Tempered Monsters and Gamma Sets
Traditionally the most powerful armor sets available in Monster Hunter, in Wilds the Gamma sets are being released with each Title Update. These grant access to the Lord's Soul 3-set bonus - a powerful additional cheat death effect - while coming with a slightly higher budget for strong skills. The sets currently released are:
- Rey Dau - this set focuses on Latent Power, which is generally less suited to the Dual Blades. The high cost to fit this in compared to more mixed sets means it is only currently used in a specialized set to counter monsters weak to Thunder.
- Uth Duna - this set is unknown, and will be releasing later into Title Update 2.
Dual Blades HR 10 Armor Set
The first set we recommend crafting right at the start of High Rank still relies on some of the previous Low Rank sets as they have much more offensive power than the early High Rank pieces. As you progress higher these will be phased out in favor of options that can more efficiently grab these skills, but early on choices are limited and comfort is easier to fit in.
Your decoration collection at this stage will still be quite small, and while it may be appealing to farm them it's simply not worth the time early on. Once you gain access to some of these decorations though, it opens up room to start tailoring your build to more offensive setups.
Gear | Decorations | |
---|---|---|
Weapon | Quematrice Silexes III | N/A |
Head | G. Ebony Helm | N/A |
Chest | G. Arkveld Mail | N/A |
Gloves | G. Arkveld Vambraces | N/A |
Waist | G. Ebony Coil | N/A |
Legs | Conga Greaves β | N/A |
Talisman | Evasion Charm II | N/A |
This set strikes a good balance between comfort and offensive power early on with the Dual Blades while you adjust to High Rank hunts. It prioritizes points in Burst which is very efficient, using the Guardian Ebony Odogaron set alongside the Congalala legs as your first High Rank piece. It also maintains the Arkveld 2-piece and some points in Flayer for the additional healing for an extra layer of comfort.
Your Charm is optional at this stage, with either Evasion Charm II or Marathon Charm II depending on preference, as comfort skills are the only good early crafts with these starting out. Your early priority hunts are Quematrice to craft a solid blue sharpness weapon early and either Hirabami or Gypceros depending on your charm of choice to raise it to level 2.
HR 10 Armor Set Skills and Set Bonuses
- Burst - Level 3
- Focus - Level 2
- Flayer - Level 2
- Evade Window or Marathon Runner - Level 2

Dual Blades Mid-Game Armor Sets - HR 20-40+
As you move deeper into High Rank, more Alpha and Beta sets become available with much more efficient access to offensive skills. This allows you to start cutting out inefficient or low value pieces and begin to tailor a focused build around the Dual Blades' strengths. This begins at HR20 with many monsters being added to the High Rank pool (in particular Guardian Ebony Odogaron), and at Rank 40+ Gore Magala shifts this even further.
We've separated these two stages into the tabs below depending on what gear you currently have access to:
Dual Blades Mid-Game HR Sets
Dual Blades HR20-39 Build
As you reach the higher levels of High Rank it's time to start really incorporating some of the stronger offensive skills available and mixing them together. It's around this point you'll be able to mix-and-match multiple strong skills together without needing to exclusively focus on one, and more powerful decoration slots will start to drop that can be slotted into your new sets.
Gear | Decorations | |
---|---|---|
Weapon | Twin Flames I | N/A |
Head | G. Ebony Helm β | N/A |
Chest | Rathalos Mail β | N/A |
Gloves | G. Ebony Braces α | Sheath |
Waist | G. Ebony Coil β | N/A |
Legs | G. Ebony Greaves β | N/A |
Talisman | Counterattack Charm I | N/A |
This set immediately switches out to the High Rank Guardian Ebony Odogaron set to max out Burst and maintain the 4-piece. As a final piece it uses the Rathalos Chest alongside Counterattack Charm I for Adrenaline Rush, which can be maintained comfortably using Demon Dodge.
At this stage it's time to start looking at element counters again for weapons as you should be able to grab one for each while farming. The most broadly usable are the Fire Rathalos Dual Blades Twin Flames I, though a quick list of farmable crafts at these ranks for each element are:

Fire - Twin Flames I - Click for Match-ups
-
Water - Guild Knight Sabers II - Click for Match-ups
-
Ice - Blango Sai I - Click for Match-ups
-

- Earplugs - Level 1
- Ebony Odogaron's Power - 4-piece
Dual Blades HR 40+ Mid-game Build
After unlocking Gore Magala and High Rank Arkveld you can start gathering Hunter Symbol III, which opens up the final parts of the crafting tree. At this stage you can now start fully optimizing your set for damage, and should have a healthy collection of decorations to put the finishing touches on each piece. Below we'll be presenting a more optimized set to aim for to set yourself up for the final endgame push.
Gear | Decorations | |
---|---|---|
Weapon | Inspired Ywain* see notes |
|
Head | G. Ebony Helm β |
|
Chest | Gore Mail α |
|
Gloves | G. Ebony Braces β |
|
Waist | Gore Coil α |
|
Legs | Mizutsune Greaves β |
|
Talisman | Counter Charm II | N/A |
When looking at a more optimized set for Dual Blades it still leans heavily into filling out Burst. The Mizutsune Legs are incredibly efficient as a non-set piece, and can be paired with the Guardian Ebony Odogaron 2-piece to max it out fully. The Gore Magala 2-piece paired with Antivirus decorations is also extremely efficient for affinity, and opens up the option to use 2-slots on Coalescence for even more benefits.
3-slot decorations alongside your charm slot is used to max out Adrenaline Rush using Counter Charm II, which should have excellent uptime with Demon Dodge. The build has a single spare 1-slot decoration, giving you room to pick up a third point in Constitution or anything else you may want for comfort.
You can alternatively switch to the Mizutsune Alpha Legs and Gore Magala Beta Waist if you want to trade level 5 Adrenaline Rush for Level 3 Coalescence, depending on preference.
Due to the Dual Blades very heavily leaning toward Elemental damage, counters to monster weaknesses are quite important. That means you'll often need a variety of weapons to cover each match-up before moving to Artian weapons in the final endgame grind. Below is a list of the ideal craft for each element, and some drop-down lists of each match-up counter:
-
Fire - Wyvern Lovers - Click for Match-ups
-
Water - Evening Dusk - Click for Match-ups
-
Ice - Precipice Ulokiem - Click for Match-ups
-
Dragon - Inspired Ywain - Click for Match-ups
These are optimizations if you're looking to take down each monster as quickly as possible, but the most broadly usable option with the highest element and raw is Inspired Ywain, as Dragon resistance is less common. It's fairly important though with Dual Blades to really be leaning into counters for the correct monster. When it comes to decorations, in order of importance these are the things to look for:
- Element 3 - the element of your respective Dual Blades gains a lot from maxing this skill out and gaining the percentage increase, so prioritize this.
- Razor Sharp / Protective Polish - as the Dual Blades chew through Sharpness incredibly quickly, Razor Sharp provides the most consistent reduction for general use. If you're good about maintaining it, Protective Polish is an excellent alternative to consider as well.
- Handicraft- if your chosen weapon doesn't come with base white sharpness, this goes from being a good alternative to the above to being equally powerful as your sharpness management method of choice.
- Critical Boost - for pure damage increases this is a solid skill to go with the extra Affinity in the set, though Dual Blades generally has less than other weapons.
- Critical Element - similarly efficient due to the higher value of element damage for Dual Blades.
HR 40+ Armor Set Skills and Set Bonuses
- Burst - Level 5
- Adernaline Rush - Level 5
- Focus - Level 3
- Dragon Attack - Level 3
- Razor Sharp - Level 3

- Evade Window - Level 2
- Coalescence - Level 2
- Critical Element - Level 1
- Divine Blessing - Level 1
- Gore Magala's Tyranny - 2-piece
- Ebony Odogaron's Power - 2-piece
Dual Blades HR 50+ Endgame Armor Set
With the new options added in Title Update 2, the Dual Blades makes heavy use of in particular Lagiacrus pieces to build a mixed set with Gore Magala. Due to the Thunder set having specific build options when using Levin Acrus, a separate set has also been included below.
Dual Blades Endgame Sets
Dual Blades Endgame Armor Set
The following is a general use armor set that will serve well in all hunts. Specifically against monsters weak to Thunder however, use the Levin Acrus build instead.
Gear | Decorations | |

Weapon | Blazing Liel* see notes |
|
Head | Gore Helm β |
|
Chest | Lagiacrus Mail β |
|
Gloves | Regios Vambraces β |
|
Waist | Gore Coil β |
|
Legs | Lagiacrus Greaves β |
|
Talisman | Counterattack Charm III | N/A |
With the additions in Title Update 2, a full set incorporates both the Gore Magala and Lagiacrus 2-piece bonuses for the additional Affinity from Frenzy paired Sane, and the extra Thunder damage procs. It uses the Seregios Gloves for the efficient points in Adrenaline Rush.
It mixes pieces and decorations that fulfill 5 points in Weakness Exploit while using its Talisman to round out 5 points in Adrenaline Rush. It also makes sure to grab Counterstrike which can be activated using the Dual Blades Perfect Dodge on a variety of abilities, and a single point in Burst.
The Zoh Shia weapon becomes the strongest crafted weapon available against Dragon monsters, bringing a solid skill that even has some universal use. That said, Dual Blades still strongly lean into element counters on hunts, so having a variety of different weapons depending on your target is key. Below is a list of crafts per counter, with some drop down menus for appropriate monsters:
-
Fire - Wyvern Lovers - Click for Match-ups
-
Water - Evening Dusk - Click for Match-ups
-
Ice - Precipice Ulokiem - Click for Match-ups
-
Dragon - Blazing Liel - Click for Match-ups

- [Element] Attack - Level 3

- Coalescence - Level 1

Dual Blades Thunder Armor Set
The following is a set specifically built to counter monsters weak to Thunder due to the power of Convert Thunder Resistance available on Levin Acrus.
Gear | Decorations | |
---|---|---|
Weapon | Levin Acrus |
|
Head | Rey Sandhelm γ |
|
Chest | Rey Sandmail γ |
|
Gloves | Rey Sandbraces γ |
|
Waist | Lagiacrus Coil β |
|
Legs | Lagiacrus Greaves β |
|
Talisman | Counterattack Charm III | N/A |
Due to the Convert Thunder Resistance skill on Levin Acrus, a set tailored toward getting as much as possible to massively boost the Thunder element present on the weapon is needed. This uses pieces of Rey Dau Gamma to stack additional resistance, grant access to Lord's Soul and efficient Weakness Exploit.
Alongside that, it uses the 2-piece Lagiacrus set while maintaining Counterstrike, and using its Talisman to slot 3 points into Adrenaline Rush.
This set should be used against monsters weak to the Thunder element, which includes:
Levin Acrus Set Skills and Set Bonuses
- Weakness Exploit - Level 5
- Latent Power - Level 4
- Adrenaline Rush - Level 3
- Counterstrike - Level 3
- Critical Boost - Level 3
- Thunder Attack - Level 3
- Thunder Resistance - Level 3
- Evade Extender - Level 2
- Maximum Might - Level 2
- Power Prolonger - Level 2
- Convert Thunder Resistance - Level 1
- Burst - Level 1
- Razor Sharp - Level 1
- Stamina Surge - Level 1
- Lord's Soul - 2-piece
- Rey Dau's Voltage - 2-piece
- Leviathan's Fury - 2-piece
Dual Blades Mind's Eye Armor Set
A recent alternative build has also showed up that makes use of some of the Title Update 2 changes, and some quirks of the Mind's Eye skill. This makes it significantly easier to deal with certain monsters that have harder to reach hitboxes, providing a significant increase to damage dealt to armored hitzones. Especially on erratic monsters like Gore Magala this can ease up some of the requirements to target certain parts.
Gear | Decorations | |
---|---|---|
Weapon | Tiltkreise |
|
Head | Regios Helm α |
|
Chest | Regios Mail β |
|
Gloves | Regios Vambraces β |
|
Waist | Numinous Overlay β |
|
Legs | Regios Greaves β |
|
Talisman | Power Charm III | N/A |
This set heavily relies on the extra value from Mind's Eye that allows for the bonus damage on weak hitzones, meaning that an Artian weapon is required for the extra 3-slot decorations. This combines all parts of the new Seregios 4-piece and Adernaline Rush to go all-in on bonus Raw damage, but Dual Blades can very effectively maintain this throughout an encounter.
It picks up the Zoh Shia Legs alongside some decorations to still max out Agitator, and uses other decoration slots to make sure Counterstrike is still capped at 3. Talismans have a lot of options available, but having Power Charm III currently give 3 points compared to other skills it slightly beats out other options, as most desirable skills are already maxed.
As this set uses an Artian weapon, you should make sure to have one with the appropriate element to counter your target. Also make sure to use the appropriate 3-slot decoration in your weapon to accompany it. A match-up list is as follows:
-
Fire - Click for Match-ups
-
Water - Click for Match-ups
-
Ice - Click for Match-ups
-
Dragon - Click for Match-ups
Mind's Eye Set Skills and Set Bonuses
- Adrenaline Rush - Level 5
- Agitator - Level 5
- Counterstrike - Level 3

- Evade Window - Level 2
- Bleeding Resistance - Level 1
- Burst - Level 1
- Coalescence - Level 1
- Critical Element - Level 1
- Handicraft - Level 1
- Seregios's Tenacity - 4-piece
- Scale Layering - 3-piece
Artian Weapons for the Dual Blades
Artian Weapons are currently the best available option for the Dual Blades in every element match-up, and also allows you to hand pick which element each craft comes with. That means you will generally want to craft multiple Tiltkreise to cover each monster weakness, and will be the best options available even before adding in reinforcements. Having a full suite of each counter is the ultimate goal when building out your endgame Dual Blades sets.
You should always aim to craft weapons with all 3 of the same element on your two Blade and one Disc selections to maximize the element value on the resulting weapon. Also aim to use 3 Attack infusions to maximize the raw throughput. Ideally, you want the following reinforcements:
- Attack Boost +5
- Attack Boost +5
- Attack Boost +5
- Attack Boost +5
- Sharpness Boost +30
The perfect rolls aren't necessary to make Artian weapons worth it, but ideally you want to avoid too many Affinity or Sharpness boosts if you can.
For the 3 decoration slots, fill this with Element/Critical Element of your choice depending on the weapon crafted, Razor Sharp III/Handicraft I and Critical III to make use of all of the affinity picked up in the endgame armor sets, add some bonus element damage and cover the high sharpness requirements of the Dual Blades.
