General Information

On this page, we explain what the best statistics are for Assassination Rogues in World of Warcraft Legion 7.1.5, how the class benefits from each of them.

The statistics priority is important as it influences itemisation choices (gear, enchants, and gems).

The other pages of our Assassination Rogue guide can be accessed from the table of contents on the right.

About Our Author and Reviewer

This guide has been written by Furty, who has an illustrious history in the World of Warcraft raiding scene and race for World First. He has been a member of guilds such as Serenity, Midwinter, and many more, and is currently raiding in Myst. He plays most classes at the highest level. You can follow him on Twitter and watch him play on Twitch.

This guide has been reviewed and approved by Perfecto, an Outlaw/Assassination Rogue who raids in Method.

1. Basics

The stat priority for an Assassination Rogue is:

  1. Agility;
  2. Mastery;
  3. Versatility;
  4. Critical Strike;
  5. Haste.

Exsanguinate Stat Priority:

  1. Agility;
  2. Critical Strike = Versatility;
  3. Mastery;
  4. Haste.

1.1. Stat Weights

These values are calculated for a single target using the Agonizing Poison Icon Agonizing Poison talent build.

  1. Agility: 1.00
  2. Mastery: 0.86
  3. Versatility: 0.70
  4. Critical Strike: 0.63
  5. Haste: 0.46

If you are playing with a more bleed focused playstyle (using Exsanguinate Icon Exsanguinate instead of Agonizing Poison Icon Agonizing Poison), the value of Mastery plummets.

These statistics have been obtained by combining common sense, in-game testing, and simulations using Simulation Craft.

You can also use Shadowcraft, an online tool dedicated to Rogues, where you can optimise your gear, gems, reforging options, enchants, talents, glyphs, and rotation.

2. Getting a Better Understanding

Agility is your primary statistic. You should look for it in all of your upgrades. It provides you with Attack Power, which determines the damage your abilities do.

Mastery increases the damage that your poisons deal (through Mastery: Potent Poisons Icon Mastery: Potent Poisons).

Critical Strike increases your chance to critically hit with attacks. As an Assassination Rogue, this statistic also contributes to granting you extra Combo Points through Seal Fate Icon Seal Fate.

Versatility is a flat-out damage done increase and damage taken reduction.

Haste provides you with increased attack speed and Energy regeneration.
