You can get early access to four Allied Races, once you pre-order the upcoming Battle for Azeroth expansion and complete a short scenario. In this article, we're looking at unlock requirements for Allied Races in Patch 7.3.5.

An existing character of at least level 110 is required on a realm in order to create an Allied Race character.

  • CHAR_CREATE_LEVEL_REQUIREMENT_ALLIED_RACE: You must have an existing character of at least level 110 on this realm to create an Allied Race character.

It's said nowhere somehow..so I feel kinda bad asking this. I could just oversee something obvious...
But if I have an alliance main on which I have all those requirements met for every allied race....can I play the horde allied race unlocks as well? Do I need to unlock on a horde char? (probably) Or do I even need to meet the horde allied race requirements with a horde char... ?(which would be painful).

Progress is shared account wide, so you shouldn't have any issues with that.

This is legit as of the latest Patch 7.3.5 PTR Build. All achievements related to Allied Races have had their requirements added. I remember that Blizzard wanted to lift the reputation gating behind these achievements (mentioned in a Q/A specifically about the Nightfallen & Nightborne), but for now, the reputation requirements are still present. Stay tuned for more updates as we near 7.3.5 release. They may change at any given time during testing.

Some of the unlock scenarios can be found in our 7.3.5 zone preview here.

Can't say I am overly happy with reputation requirements for races that are being paid for.  If I buy the expansion (especially if I pre-order it) I should get access to everything.  If it was a free expansion, then rewards tied to reputation or accomplishments make sense.  But a paid service shouldn't have requirements.

My question related to whether access was a pre order bonus for BFA. Nothing has been confirmed from what I can see anywhere else so I was asking whether you had inside info as to the pre order access info.

If the only thing included in BfA was allied races I would agree. The current idea Blizzard have is that you get (for example) Highmountain to join the Horde by effort on your behalf, not just "thank you for buying this expansion, the Highmountain has for unknow reasons joined the Horde, woho!".

I don't really get why ppl complain about reputation reqs. If you're doing emissaries, you have exalted already 10 times..

Well I mean, in this case it's bad for new players. If you are just starting in/after BfA, you aren't going to just have the rep for the factions. which means if you want the allied races, you basically need a character, then to go back and get the rep requirement on top of the zone achiev to get them

Hopefully they will drop the rep gating. Seems a bit silly to get the adventurer to smash through a huge storyline, like the Suramar one, then get them grind rep for months on end just to play the content. It's a bit like "You've done all this for us, helped us stave off withering and forced out the legion walking our street, practically saving our lives. But we still don't trust you".

If they really feel they want to keep with the rep requirement then it should be revered, which you can hit once you've got through their questline story, then exalted if you want the Heritage Armour cosmetic stuff.

Is it true that the level 110 requirement is per server?  Also, is it per faction?

Yes it's true. There are a couple of global strings in the files related to Allied Races.

CHAR_CREATE_LEVEL_REQUIREMENT_ALLIED_RACE: You must have an existing character of at least level 110 on this realm to create an Allied Race character.

CHARACTER_TYPE_FRAME_TRIAL_BOOST_CHARACTER_TOOLTIP_INVALID_ALLIED_RACE: Class Trial is not available for locked Allied Races.

LEVEL_GRANT_ALLIED_RACE: %s wishes to grant you one level.  By accepting this level, you are making yourself ineligible to earn your heritage armor.

LEVEL_GRANT_ALLIED_RACE_WARNING: By granting a level to this player, you are making them ineligible to earn heritage armor.

Any word on additional character slots. I'd love to have them on my primary server without deleting a character or doing a race change.

Our Battle for Azeroth content hub is filled to brim with useful information to get you started with WoW's latest expansion!
Your source of the latest Battle for Azeroth news!
      Release Date
World of Warcraft's latest expansion will be released on August 14, 2018. You can find out more information in this post.
      Pre-Purchase Battle for Azeroth
If you pre-purchase the expansion, you'll get a level 110 boost and gain early access to four Allied Races. The Digital Deluxe Edition comes with various goodies in all Blizzard games except Diablo. Collector's Edition from local retailers also comes with two novellas and you can read excerpts here.
Game Version Pricing Buy Link Standard Edition $49.99 // 44.99 EUR EU / US Digital Deluxe Edition $69.99 // 59.99 EUR EU / US Pre-Purchase Deal [More Details]
New players that pre-order Battle for Azeroth will get Legion bundled with it for 49.99 USD // 44.99 EUR.
      Allied Races
Highmountain Tauren, Lightforged Draenei, Nightborne and Void Elves are four Allied Races that can be unlocked before Battle for Azeroth goes live. Pre-purchasing the expansion won't unlock them though. They're gated behind Exalted reputation standing with Legion factions and achievements.
If you boost an Allied Race character to level 110, you won't be able to receive Heritage armor.
It's very likely that Blizzard removes the gating at some point before Battle for Azeroth launch. It would not make much sense having them gated behind old content.

Four Allied Races have been confirmed in Battle for Azeroth so far. The Alliance will be able to unlock Dark Iron Dwarves and Kul Tirans, whereas the Horde can convince Mag'har Orcs and Zandalari Trolls to join the faction. The aforementioned Allied Races will be gated behind Battle for Azeroth content and can't be unlocked before launch. We learned that Dark Iron Dwarves and Mag'har Orcs will be available first and both Allied Races are now available for playtesting on Alpha.
