Allied Races & Pandaren Death Knight Textures Added on 8.3 PTR

Recommended Posts

lT8vfLE.jpg

Allied Races and the Pandaren will be finally able to become Death Knights in the near future, as Blizzard added creature textures together with encrypted sound files for Bolvar Fordragon and Darion Mograine in 8.3 Build 32151.

It seems Bolvar is going to forge a new line of Death Knights in Patch 8.3. Death Knight textures for all Allied Races (Including Lightforged Draenei) have been added to the game along with encrypted sound files for Bolvar Fordragon and Highlord Darion Mograine, who's likely going to narrate the new Death Knight intro. There's also an encrypted map of an area, which is likely the one of Icecrown Citadel.

It seems there's going to be a brand new Death Knight intro, but at this time, we don't know if the Allied Races are going to start at level 20 or 55 and how that's going to affect Heritage Armor acquisition.

Well it ain't like it's worth playing DK in BFA but imagine having a DK main and not being excited about new races since Cataclysm.

Undead are capable of using the light (there are even some undead npcs with holy spells), must chose not to, because it causes them pain while channeling it or being healed by it. Besides, wherever is light, there is always a shadow/darkness, these are the opposite forces on a magic spectrum in Warcraft. Two sides of a coin, one may say. Once they introduced Tauren paladins and priests, all bets have been off, races can adapt after all. Some races might have more or less people with affinity or aptitude for magic (or certain types of it), there are also cultural factors, but nearly all classes and specs can exist. I think more races could have been paladins, because they've already got priests, so it's a matter of some training. It's different from many fantasy settings, where for example Dwarves are incapable of using most (if not all) schools of magic, while here they are one of races with most options available to them.

And the justification on Tauren priests and paladins was a matter of balancing the Night Elf focus on the Moon (Mu'sha) by delving into the Sun (An'she), and also ended up being part of the rework of Balance Druids concerning solar vs lunar.

Wonder if that means that all races will be monks soon? Since only Worgen, Goblin and Lightforged Draenei can't be

We also gotta see some tauren rogues in action, finally. Had to wait for 15 years for that.

Possible justification was about their starting zones being timelocked, but even that makes no sense, as there have been monk trainers retroactively added to older zones, including TBC ones. I think the only reason LF Draenei did not have monks was to balance them with HM Tauren, also having only 5 classes. But that's out of the window now, since Vulpera have one more class than Mechagnomes.

Bleah.

"Lore?   What's that, can it be eaten?"-Blizzard

Can't wait to see their "reasoning" on why Bolvar is making more DKs, why the Ebon hand is apparently OK with it, why the various factions are not caring about their greatest heroes being turned undead, etc.

Or, we'll just not get any reasoning beyond the Night Elf forsaken reasoning, "Angry at Sylvannas burning our children and family alive in our home, (hand wave hand wave mumble) so we're joining Sylvannas because Tyrande and Elune couldn't save us!"

Maybe DK starting level can be increased... Never made sense to me that they got a taste of the WOTLK story and then immediately went to Outland. I know it's less of a problem now that the leveling path has been reworked, but if Bolvar is creating DKs now clearly they should start sometime post-WOTLK.

Well I know a few people hoping that the Zandalari Trolls will be able to be DK's but changing starting zones or starting level is possible but I don't think Blizz has any intention of doing such a change.  But if Blizzard should give players a quest chain revolving around Bolvar and the Ebon Blades action leading up to 8.3 I can be down for that.  But in reality may be given an abrupt non-informative cutscene like the tidestone and the Naga in 8.2.5 and not showing how they acquired it to begin with after the events of ToS of the Legion Expansion.

Slowest movement, water walking is the most fun ability the class has and brings only combat rez

Actually with both Death's Advance (which also gives a knockback protection) and Wraithwalk DK's can be quite mobile when needed.

And you say "brings only combat rez" as if it was not a very good spell to have. Some specs in the game brings no utility at all.

Also according to warcraftlogs, Frost DKs are the 4th better spec for The Eternal Palace.

Thats how i like my draves in several fantasy books. They are warriors formed out of earth or/and stone killing hundreds of Orcs and other evil creatures (while im playing an Orc in WoW Classic ^^) . They cant use magic and if one can hes most likely evil and corrupted ^^

I love Pandaren. Most of my alts are pandaren. I think making Pandaren able to choose DK is just stupid. I don't care if I can't make a pandaren DK, it just really doesn't fit the lore. And no, I'm not happy with a story forcing pandaren DK's just so you're able to make one yourself.

all these people complaining about the lore...

Lore... changes as the game changes.

They are supposedly getting a new starting area/screen/something and its not like the LK didnt have you resurrect all kinda guys in Legion during the order hall campaign...

Thinking that no other race would be added in EVENTUALLY is pretty lame, imo.

Pretending a cohesive story isn't important in an MMO is pretty lame imo.     WoW's story and lore used to be top of the line.    You run around the plaguelands and you find books with random bits of lore just on the ground or on the shelves in 5-mans, not to mention all the npcs just willing to talk about history and whatnot.

Today?    Rexxar joins the war because at some point we didn't see "Jaina, she's killed too many".    This is of course dropped and never seen again and they're standing next to each other in perfect happiness in the latest cinematics.    We get Night Elfs who were blitz'd in a suprised attack by Sylvannas and her horde, brutally killed as they watched Sylvannas burn their children and families alive in their home.    So of course they join Sylvannas as forsaken because reasons "We're joining Sylvannas because Elune/Tyrande couldn't save us from Sylvannas!".     We get like, at a stretch 15 vulpera who "help" in a loose stretch of the word, a few horde and zandalari forces who crashed in the desert.    They are then brutally attacked by purge squads using flame throwers, because reasons, and forced to join the horde for safety.

I could go on, but the lore part of the game is becoming a sad joke.   A really sad one.

maybe i misspoke.

LORE isnt changing from what I have gleaned just from this literally alpha version of the 'changes' we're about to see.

They can show how NEW Death Knights are raised without changing the pre-existing lore even one iota.

I was wondering the same thing. They are seen as the holiest of holy and now they can be Death Knights? So, what does that actually make them?? I am actually kind of confused as to how they will play that one out. I mean, it doesn't really make much sense.......

Solozerro has defeated Mythic Garrosh alone in MoP Remix! Congrats to the amazing feat that took months of dedication to accomplish!
In an emotional tribute to a friend who passed away during the transition between World of Warcraft's Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm expansions, one dedicated player has fulfilled a long-standing promise to leave their mark in the game's history.
"I promised her I would make a name for myself in WoW history, and today, I can finally say I've done this in her honor," Solozerro said.
This accomplishment was the result of several evenings of dedicated attempts, each preceded by a week of rigorous farming. The process spanned multiple weeks, with each attempt lasting about 15 minutes.
The player faced significant challenges, particularly with the Y’Shaarj adds during Garrosh Hellscream’s Empowered Whirlwind phase. "You need a high DPS check just for those adds," Solozerro explained.
Back when the fight was nearly impossible to solo as a DPS, Solo had to do it in tank specialization to avoid fight resets due to mind control, which significantly impacted their damage output.
Despite these obstacles, the player remained steadfast. "In total, I collected over 1.5 million threads on my cloak," they said, underscoring the extent of their efforts.

Even the recent nerfs to Garrosh Hellscream posed a unique challenge. "I overslept and when I woke up and heard about the nerfs, I was sure someone would have tried it. During the fight, I still had adds up, but luckily, I managed to meet the DPS check to avoid the Empowered Whirlwind."
This achievement not only honors a friend's memory but also serves as an inspiration to the WoW community. "These changes will affect a lot and might actually push more people to try it," the player reflected.
Here’s the solo video! We want to congratulate Solozerro once again and express how thrilled we are to have been part of this incredible journey!
Solozerro's journey has come to an end today with 24 days of MoP Remix remaining! The player has soloed Mythic Garrosh after the recent raid nerfs, nearly 1 months after soloing the Paragons of Klaxxi.

As of the War Within pre-patch, Alysrazor in the Firelands raid is bugged, preventing players from getting the Flametalon of Alysrazor mount.
Blizzard made various updates to flying in the War Within pre-patch, and a possible side-effect could be tied to Alysrazor not leaving her spawn location when you engage her in the raid.
Hopefully, Blizzard will soon release a fix for the issue. Until then, don't bother soloing the Firelands!
    • By Starym
It's time for some more preliminary stats, as the pre-patch has been here a whole 3 days (well, not exactly "whole", especially considering the game time gifts)! We're taking a look at how the class changes shifted the dungeon meta, but keep in mind these are really early numbers and fewer players do Mythic+ in post-season.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
While the very top spot remains unchallenged, as Augmentation is set to rule M+ forever, the rest is pretty different! We have some Fyr'alath action right after the Evoker, as Fury and Ret fight it out over the silver, while Shadow falls down to 4th, but is still very much in the game. Unholy makes a solid leap up and passes Elemental, with Fire dropping down some. Devastation and Demonology are newcomers to the bottom 3, where Enhancement welcomes them as a pretty much permanent resident.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
Things are looking similar in the generalist bracket, but Retribution takes down Fury here and Fire is significantly higher. Survival is also doing a lot better than in the top percentiles, and Beast Mastery makes the top 10 as well.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles Tank (Points)
The tanks show basically no change whatsoever, as is customary, with only Protection Warrior managing to climb one up and leave Brewmaster at the bottom.
Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Healer (Points)
Holy is pushing up and then some, claiming 2nd right below the long-time emperor, Resto Druid. Shaman climbs up from much lower to grab 3rd, while Discipline falls down to the bottom.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.
