BiS Gear Guide for Holy Priest
Due to the wide variety of gear providing secondary stats that are all very close in value for us and augments such as sockets or tertiary stats, there is no certain Best in Slot list. This page aims to guide you toward the best possible items, particularly in Trinket slots.
For regular item slots that are not used by tier or trinket/weapon effects, you will want to focus on item level while keeping the following in mind:
- Socket — Around 10 item levels.
- Leech — Around 15 item levels. **
- Avoidance — Around 5 item levels. ***
** Note: The value of leech drops off the more you get. It is quite valuable up until you reach 4-5 items with it; then, the value can drop off quite significantly. Focus on prioritizing item level if you reach this much leech from your gear.
*** Note: The value of avoidance depends heavily on the encounter. It is often much more valuable in Mythic+ as it can save you from many abilities that deal a large amount of damage. In the Raid, it varies from encounter to encounter, and its value could range from 0 item levels up to 10.

BiS List for Holy Priest
This list contains the most beneficial items from most sources for Holy Priest. Due to secondary stats being so close for Holy Priest, there are many viable and competitive options in most slots. You should prioritize item-level wherever possible and use this list just as a guide if you need to fill in a particular slot.
Maximum iLvl Great Vault items from Mythic+ are not listed here, as they are not targetable due to the RNG nature of the Vault. Mythic+ items are included at their maximum upgrade level.
While the Dreambinder, Loom of the Great Cycle staff is listed as the best weapon below, it is quite rare, and the bonus is a damage benefit, making it hard to obtain. A good alternative which is easier to obtain is Staff of Incandescent Torment from Gnarlroot. Your priority with weapon should be to acquire the highest item level weapon possible. Whether this is a staff, a main-hand and off-hand combination, or a crafted weapon.

Mythic+ Gear BiS List for Holy Priest
This list contains the highest throughput setup, with farmable gear from Mythic+ Dungeons. This is a great place to start on a relatively new character, as you can infinitely grind out these items from Mythic+. This gear is aimed at ideal stats for raiding; if you plan on just healing Mythic+ dungeons, then you should also keep items with better secondary stats for dungeons.

Best Gear To Spend Bullions On For Holy Priest
Season 4 offers a way to target specific, powerful items with the new Antique Bronze Bullion. Here are the best items to spend your Bullions on in Dragonflight Season 4.
- Whispering Incarnate Icon
- Ominous Chromatic Essence
- Screaming Black Dragonscale or Broodkeeper's Promise if your group aren't running either of the above trinkets. **
- Dreambinder, Loom of the Great Cycle, if still missing a weapon.
** Note: Both Screaming Black Dragonscale and Broodkeeper's Promise are extremely close in value and which one you decide to use is personal preference.
Trinkets for Holy Priests
The following is a ranking of trinkets aimed at use in a raid environment unless mentioned otherwise. These rankings are formulated with all trinkets at the same item level. Due to how close in value most trinkets in each tier are, generally, it is the higher item level that will decide which one is optimal.
The trinkets you will want to focus on enhance your performance by increasing your stats. You will typically want to avoid trinkets that provide a healing or shielding effect as they do not scale as well as the stat trinkets. If you are not great at using "on-use" trinkets, feel free to opt for a more passive option that is easier to use, as you will likely get much more benefit from it.
Recommended Trinkets for Holy Priest
You should aim to acquire two S-Tier trinkets eventually. Trinkets from the A tier in particular are strong enough to still perform well until you can get your hands on one of the top tier trinkets.
S Tier
- Whispering Incarnate Icon (Vault of the Incarnates).
- Ominous Chromatic Essence (Aberrus).
- Screaming Black Dragonscale (Aberrus).
- Broodkeeper's Promise (Vault of the Incarnates).
A Tier
- Neltharion's Call to Suffering (Aberrus).
- Pip's Emerald Friendship Badge (Amirdrassil).
- Rashok's Molten Heart (Aberrus).
- Ruby Whelp Shell (Ruby Life Pools).
- Smoldering Seedling (Amirdrassil).
- Spoils of Neltharus (Neltharus).
B Tier
- Alacritous Alchemist Stone (Alchemy).
- Sustaining Alchemist Stone (Alchemy).
- Idol of the Lifebinder (Jewelcrafting).
- Idol of the Spell-Weaver (Jewelcrafting).
Due to the large number of trinkets available in Season 4, only those considered B-Tier or higher have been listed.
Recommended Tier for Holy Priest
The tier bonus for Season 4 is passively applying Renew through using your existing talents, Holy Word: Sanctify, and Holy Word: Serenity. These Renews periodically trigger a powerful buff which prevents your next cast of a Holy Word from consuming a charge. You should prioritize obtaining your 4-set bonus as soon as possible. Which 4 slots you obtain does not matter; it is only important that you have the bonus.
- 2-set: Priest Holy 10.2 Class Set 2pc - Holy Word: Serenity applies 14 sec of Renew to its target. Holy Word: Sanctify applies 5 sec of Renew to allies it heals.
- 4-set: Priest Holy 10.2 Class Set 4pc - Renew's healing has a chance to cause your next Holy Word: Sanctify or Holy Word: Serenity to not consume a charge when cast and cost 50% less Mana, accumulating up to 2 charges.
Neither of the set bonuses changes how we play. It is important to understand the renews provided from regular Prayer of Mending casts, as well as the 2-set bonus Priest Holy 10.2 Class Set 2pc provide enough renews to generate all of the 4-set procs. You should not be casting Renew despite the set bonus appearing as though it rewards it.
Recommended Embellishments for Holy Priest
We suggest you aim for the following Embellishments when crafting your gear:
- Elemental Lariat - This neck has a unique Embellishment, providing a strong secondary stat bonus, increasing with the number of sockets on your gear.
- Allied Wristguards of Time Dilation - These bracers provide not only yourself, but some nearby allies with increased Versatility.
Undulating Sporecloak had all of its effects heavily reduced in patch 10.2 and is no longer recommended. Magazine of Healing Darts is a potential replacement if you are unable to craft either of the two recommended items.
The remainder of the embellishments provide much less value and should be avoided where possible.
Recommended Jewellery for Holy Priest
There are no specific Necklaces or Rings which you should be aiming for. When choosing between your Jewellery items, try to keep in mind the stat priority for your preferred mode of content to help decide which stats to prioritize.
Best Weapons for Holy Priest
There are no specific Weapons you should be aiming for. Try to obtain the highest item level Staff or Main-hand and Off-hand combination that you can, regardless of their secondary stats.
Gear upgrades for Holy Priest
The Valor Upgrade system is gone in Season 2 and is replaced by a new system that allows for item upgrades to be obtained from a wider variety of content.
Dragonflight Season 2 introduces two new currencies: Flightstones and Shadowflame Crests are both obtainable from practically all forms of content in the game. They can be used to upgrade gear up to Item Level 441, which is entry-level Mythic Raid Item Level. They can also upgrade Crafted Gear up to iLvl 447, which is late-Mythic Item Level.
You should aim to upgrade weapons and trinkets first, then your chest, helm, and legs.
For more information on the new Gear Upgrades system, check out our dedicated page for it below.
As with Valor, the cost to upgrade scales differs per slot but now also increases quickly as item levels go up.
Enchants and Sockets
Once you have obtained a piece of gear containing a prismatic socket or needing to be enchanted, you will need to know how to modify it. Details about these tweaks can be found on our dedicated gems, enchants, and consumables page.
