General Information

This page is a gear reference for Holy Priests. It lists your best items and Legendaries, gives you gearing advice, and shows you how you will be competing for loot with other classes.

The other pages of our Holy Priest guide can be accessed from the table of contents on the right.

About Our Reviewer

This guide has been reviewed and approved by Zolvolt, officer and long-time healing Priest of Exiled Legion, whom you can follow on Twitter.

1. Best in Slot List

We are currently not recommending a best in slot list, but we do make some important trinket recommendations (below).

2. Trinket Recommendations

For trinkets, you will ideally want to use one Mana regeneration trinket and one throughput trinket, although using 2 Mana trinkets is acceptable as well.

For Mana trinkets, we recommend Amalgam's Seventh Spine Icon Amalgam's Seventh Spine for longevity, followed by Fluctuating Energy Icon Fluctuating Energy and Darkmoon Deck: Promises Icon Darkmoon Deck: Promises.

For throughput trinkets, we recommend Perfectly Preserved Cake Icon Perfectly Preserved Cake, Unstable Arcanocrystal Icon Unstable Arcanocrystal, or Brinewater Slime in a Bottle Icon Brinewater Slime in a Bottle or Ethereal Urn Icon Ethereal Urn. Vial of Nightmare Fog Icon Vial of Nightmare Fog is worse, but can still be used, while Heightened Senses Icon Heightened Senses is not your last resort.

3. Tier 19 Set Bonuses

The 2 and 4-piece Tier 19 Set Bonuses for Holy are appealing enough to use (especially the 4-piece bonus), but not game-changing (like they are for Discipline Priests), and as such should not be pursued too intensely.

4. Legendary Items

Legendary items have a high item level of 910, which makes them extremely strong. They are so strong, in fact, that a legendary item is always going to be worth equipping over any other item you might have in that slot.

However, there is a limitation on the number of legendary items you can have equipped at any one time (by default 1, but by now most players should be able to equip 2). Since some legendary items are better than others, if you have more items than the limit, you will have to choose which ones to equip.

Below, we will do our best to guide you through this process, as well as provide any other relevant information.

Entrancing Trousers of An'juna Icon Entrancing Trousers of An'juna allow you to refresh Renew Icon Renew on tanks less frequently and give it a nice boost in your general use of Renew. That said, Renew critical strikes can not proc Icon Blessing of T'uure, so make sure to continue to use Heal Icon Heal even if using this legendary. This is most likely the best legendary for you, given the prominence of the Benediction Icon Benediction tier 7 talent.

X'anshi, Shroud of Archbishop Benedictus Icon X'anshi, Shroud of Archbishop Benedictus turns Spirit of Redemption Icon Spirit of Redemption into a viable way of dumping Mana into healing, as well as a means of recovery without the use of one of your raid's valuable combat resses. This legendary opens up the door for misuse, but if properly used, this item will be very valuable to a Mythic progression raid.

Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus Icon Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus will easily make up a sizeable amount of damage over the course of an encounter that will not need to be healed. This item is extremely powerful for a raid, preventing damage and saving healer Mana.

Velen's Future Sight Icon Velen's Future Sight is a good trinket, but using it comes at the expense of a Mana regeneration trinket. For long fights where Mana regeneration is important, we recommend using a different legendary (from the ones listed above) to free up the Mana regeneration trinket slow, while for other fights Velen's Future Sight is a strong choice.

Rammal's Ulterior Motive Icon Rammal's Ulterior Motive is an interesting legendary that we feel has good potential, although it is not better than the ones listed above.

  • Al'maiesh, the Cord of Hope Icon Al'maiesh, the Cord of Hope can be strong, but since Holy Words are mostly used on cooldown, its effect will not occur very often.

Phyrix's Embrace Icon Phyrix's Embrace this is a decent legendary for improved single target healing, but it generally finds less usefulness compared to legendaries that are not tied to abilities with such a long cooldown as Guardian Spirit Icon Guardian Spirit.

Muze's Unwavering Will Icon Muze's Unwavering Will is a very weak legendary. 15% faster cast time is just nothing to be impressed about.

Norgannon's Foresight Icon Norgannon's Foresight has a nice bonus in its effect, but overall it does not have a big enough impact for it to be considered strong.

Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret is definitely the worst legendary, and should only be used if you have no other legendaries to use instead of it. The notable exception is if the fight allows you to frequently dispel, which triggers the item, in which case it is very strong.

We would point out that if the content on which you are progressing requires individual survivability, you should prioritise X'anshi, Shroud of Archbishop Benedictus Icon X'anshi, Shroud of Archbishop Benedictus and Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus Icon Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus, while for more raid-wide healing you should focus on Entrancing Trousers of An'juna Icon Entrancing Trousers of An'juna and Rammal's Ulterior Motive Icon Rammal's Ulterior Motive.

    5. Loot Competition

Holy Priests use Cloth Armor with Intellect as their main stat.

Therefore, apart from other Holy Priests, they will also be competing for items with the classes listed below:

    Item Type Competing Classes
Tier Tokens Demon Hunters, Paladins, Discipline/Shadow Priests, and Warlocks
Cloth Armor Mages, Discipline/Shadow Priests, and Warlocks
    • Amulets
    • Cloaks
    • Rings
    Everyone
Trinkets Restoration Druids, Mistweaver Monks, Holy Paladins, Discipline Priests, and Restoration Shamans
