1. Best in Slot List

With the existence of Titanforged and Mythic+ dungeons, there is no such thing as a hard Best in Slot anymore. This is more of a guideline for the best pieces to keep an eye out for in your raid or dungeon (if applicable). Be smart, and if you find higher item level pieces with valuable stat combinations do not hesitate to upgrade to them.

2. Legendary Items

Legendary items have a high item level of 895, which makes them extremely strong. They are so strong, in fact, that a legendary item is always going to be worth equipping over any other item you might have in that slot.

However, there is a limitation on the number of legendary items you can have equipped at any one time (currently 1, but this number will increase throughout Legion). Since some legendary items are better than others, if you have more items than the limit, you will have to choose which ones to equip.

Below, we will do our best to guide you through this process, as well as provide any other relevant information.

  1. Al'maiesh, the Cord of Hope Icon Al'maiesh, the Cord of Hope: this belt is the best legendary available to Holy Priests by far. Not only does it bring a controlled boost in your Holy Word: Serenity Icon Holy Word: Serenity and Holy Word: Sanctify Icon Holy Word: Sanctify, but also in your damage through you Holy Word: Chastise Icon Holy Word: Chastise. This belt is all-around extremely valuable.
  2. Entrancing Trousers of An'juna Icon Entrancing Trousers of An'juna: these pants allow you to refresh Renew Icon Renew on tanks less frequently and give it a nice boost in your general use of Renew. That said, Renew critical strikes can not proc Icon Blessing of T'uure, so make sure to continue to use Heal Icon Heal even if using this legendary.
  3. X'anshi, Shroud of Archbishop Benedictus Icon X'anshi, Shroud of Archbishop Benedictus: this cloak turns Spirit of Redemption Icon Spirit of Redemption into a viable way of dumping Mana into healing, as well as a means of recovery without the use of one of your raid's valuable combat resses. This legendary opens up the door for misuse, but if properly used, this item will be very valuable to a Mythic progression raid.
  4. Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus Icon Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus: this will easily make up a sizeable amount of damage over the course of an encounter that will not need to be healed. This item is extremely powerful for a raid, preventing damage and saving healer Mana.
  5. Muze's Unwavering Will Icon Muze's Unwavering Will: this is a very weak legendary. 15% faster cast time is just nothing to be impressed about.
  6. Phyrix's Embrace Icon Phyrix's Embrace: this is ranked low on this list because Renew Icon Renew is not a spell you use frequently enough for it to a big impact. Any extra Renew you have out will be nice during Guardian Spirit Icon Guardian Spirit, but if Guardian Spirit's death-prevention mechanic kicks in, then suddenly this legendary no longer does anything.
  7. Norgannon's Foresight Icon Norgannon's Foresight: you have an array of instant cast spells that are used frequently (Holy Words), and some that are used infrequently (Renew Icon Renew). In order to make the most of this legendary, you would want to use Renew more than you should, and that makes it feel like the benefit of this legendary would not be on par with the others.
  8. Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret: this is definitely the worst legendary, and should only be used if you have no other legendaries to use instead of it.

3. Loot Competition

Holy Priests use Cloth Armor with Intellect as their main stats. They also use Spirit, which is found on Amulets, Cloaks, Rings, and Trinkets.

Therefore, apart from other Holy Priests, they will also be competing for items with the classes listed below:

Item Type Competing Classes
Tier Tokens Demon Hunters, Paladins, Discipline/Shadow Priests, and Warlocks
Cloth Armor Mages, Discipline/Shadow Priests, and Warlocks
  • Amulets
  • Cloaks
  • Rings
Everyone
Trinkets Restoration Druids, Mistweaver Monks, Holy Paladins, Discipline Priests, and Restoration Shamans
