Diablo2 Resurrected: Reign of the Warlock is getting a facelift. Terror Zones are being made more terrifying, new chase content is being added, and the Uber Ancients are now here. Gather the Statues and take on the latest fight, but beware this is the hardest content Diablo 2 has ever added.

Terror Zones

Terror Zones have been adjusted in Diablo 2. The following changes have been made to bring more control to the player and increase the difficulty throughout.

  • Zones change every 30 minutes – It used to be a change every hour but the developers determined that left "bad" zones around for too long. With these faster changes, you will be able to get back into the fun zones more often.
  • Terror Zones now have affixes – Every time you create a game all Terror Zones in the game will have a random affix added to every monster. From Extra Strong to Cursed to Cold Enchanted, these will bring new difficulty to the game.
  • Worldstone Shards – You can now find Shards from random Unique and Champion mobs in the game. These can be used to terrorize ALL zones in a single Act, allowing you to stay in a single game to hunt through many zones in a row.
  • Heralds – There are now special monsters called Heralds that will randomly spawn after killing Unique and Champion monsters in a Terror Zone. These need to be "Chased down" after spawning and are extra difficult monsters that have better loot drops plus a chance to drop the new Latent Sunder Charms. Every Herald (up to 5) spawned in the same game will increase in difficulty and loot drop chances.

Uber Ancients

There is now a new Uber fight, bringing together the three Barbarians one more time for an even more epic fight. This fight is not easy and will require a decently geared character to even have a chance. On top of fighting the three Ancients there are summons as well to make it even more difficult.

To spawn the Uber Ancients, a player needs to collect five statues and morph them together in their cube. These statues drop from Terrorized Act Bosses only, so it may take some lucky Terror Zone Spawning hours or a lot of Worldstone Shards to successfully get them all. Drop rates are roughly going to be similar to that of Key drops so somewhere in the 1:8-1:15 range, though we do not have exact drop rates currently.

Tips

  • Stack Resistances – The Ubers have a special Aura to decrease your resistance when nearby. Stack Resistances to help prevent getting one shot by Elemental Damage
  • Get Crushing Blow – As with all of the Ubers, having Crushing Blow will greatly improve your kill speed as they have a lot of life and Crushing Blow deals % of total life as damage.
  • Have Open Wounds – The Ubers have high regeneration so without Open Wounds (or consistent Poison) they will most likely regenerate their life faster than you can hurt them.
  • Separate Them – Try your best to separate the Ancients, even if you are able to only split away from one of them it will significantly decrease the damage you are taking and give you a chance to survive.
  • Kill the Summons – Killing the Summons first will help in the long run as they stop spawning after 15 have been spawned. This way you can focus on the larger Ancients without a bunch of tiny hits coming in.
