hearthstone Hearthstone: China vs Europe 3 Round-Up

1 post in this topic

The third China vs Europe Championship is over, and the Ferrari promised for winning is finally in the hands of one of the Chinese players. Team Newbee's Ruoji (also known as Lovelychook) beat Kolento 3-2 in the final, to become the first Chinese winner of the event. The format was best of five Conquest, with a ban.

As previously reported, the European lineup for the event was incredibly strong, leading to most people to believe that China did not have much chance of winning. Heading into the semi-final stage, not many had changed their minds, as Lovelychook was the sole Chinese representative left in the event. Europe's remaining players were SuperJJKolento, and current World Champion, Ostkaka.

Lovelychook beat Superjj 3-0 to reach the final. Kolento beat Ostkaka 3-2.

In the final, Kolento, who won this event last time around, banned Rogue, while Lovelychook banned Shaman. Lovelychook opened up with his Face Shaman in game one, while Kolento chose to start with N'Zoth Paladin. Kolento went down to 2 life, but managed to stabilise with Forbidden Healing, and took a 1-0 lead. Lovelychook stayed with the Shaman for the second game. Kolento queued up Rogue, which is a bad matchup for him, and the scores were soon level at 1-1.

Kolento stayed with Rogue for game three. Lovelychook played his Tempo Mage, which included Cabalist's Tome,  and Yogg-Saron, Hope's End. Kolento got a removal heavy start to clear up the early threats. In turn six he cycled Fan of Knives into his Gadgetzan Auctioneer, and was able to turn that into a 2-1 lead. In game four, Lovelychook managed to get control of the early board with his Mage against Hunter. He did have to rely on Yogg-Saron to clear the board near the end, but his position held to set up a final game. The final matchup was his Anyfin Can Happen Paladin against Kolento's Hunter. The Paladin deck barely missed a beat, and Lovelychook became the first Chinese champion of this event. His record through his five matches was an impressive 15-3.

Lovelychook took home the $22,000 first prize, and a Ferrari CaliforniaT valued at around $162,000. This puts him above Firebat as the top prize winner of all time. He will, however, need to get his driver's license if he intends to show off his new prize!

Card reveal for Knights of the Frozen Throne continues with Blood Razor, a neutral Legendary and Prince Taldaram.
If you missed previous reveals or need information about the latest Hearthstone expansion, you can find them in our Knights of the Frozen Throne hub page.
      Warrior's Blood Razor
The new Warrior card has been revealed via The Legend of Slag. The card makes King Mosh good and battlecry & deathrattle effects make it a flexible choice for many Warrior cards.

      Prince Taldaram
This is a new neutral Legendary card, revealed exclusively on Hearthpwn. Possible synergies are Malygos, Leeroy Jenkins or Prophet Velen.

The new Legendary Warlock card synergizes with Cruel Dinomancer and cards like Doomguard, Soulfire up to Malchezaar's Imp & Silverware Golem. It doesn't even have Charge and due to ist high mana cost it cannot be deployed early.

Two more cards from Knights of the Frozen expansion were revealed and Blizzard communicated why there was just a single card reveal before that. The cards are Ice Breaker and Plague Scientist.
Three card reveals were scheduled for today and the reveal for the second and third card was delayed and the reason is that those reveals were all with partners that couldn't make it happen today due to various reasons.

We originally had a few more card reveals for today, but the card reveals were all with partners and they unfortunately couldn't happen today due to a variety of issues. But good news! There will be two more card reveals tonight, so please look forward to them. There will also be more card reveals happening every day this week! The first card that was revealed is the Ticking Abomination and here are the next two:
      Shaman's Ice Breaker
Ice Breaker will synergize well with Frost Shock and we'll have to see Freeze effects of other cards first to determine its usefulness and full potential. Ice Breaker will be good for minion removal combined with Glacial Shard. For now, the card looks better than Shatter.

      Rogue's Plague Scientist
Provides Rogues with much needed board clear (hard removal). Synergizes well with Tentacle of N'Zoth, Wild Pyromancer. On the other hand for Constructed, it competes with Vilespine Slayer and SI:7 Agent that both seem to be better choices.

The first card since the initial annoucement for Knights of the Frozen Throne has been revealed by C4mlann earlier this morning.
Let's take a look at the first KotFT card officially revealed by C4mlann.

Blizzard kicks off the reveal with a card that seems unplayable in all currently popular decks, and subpar in arena. Although some players have suggested silence priest as a potential target, Ticking Abomination is actually detrimental to play without a form of silence in hand, unlike other popular silence targets. The caveat here is that since this is one the first card revealed, we don't actually know what's in store. Might there be a way to transfer Deathrattle effects to enemy minions? Will KotFT control decks play no minion before turn 5? One potential use for this one might lie in "forcing" your opponent to trigger your own Deathrattle effects with a high value card, but we'll have to wait and see. We might even see something that gives Deathrattle effects Lifesteal, the expansion's new mechanic, for some minion-based healing.

A new Tavern Brawl has been introduced this week by Ahune the Frost Lord himself.
In this Brawl, you will play as either Uther or Jaina. They both have premade decks and Uther is reportedly slightly better than Jaina, which is interesting since Mage usually dominates in Tavern Brawls.
      Here is Uther's deck:
Jaina uses a Reno deck, minus the Reno:
Both heroes are immune to damage and they cannot be healed nor keep armor. The only way to damage them is by killing the Ragnaros? minions. These are 1/4 minions and there is one of them at each side of the board. They cannot attack and upon death they deal 4 damage to the opponent of the current player. This means that you can kill both minions (the one on your side and the one on your opponent's side) and your opponent will take all the damage. Moreover, once a Ragnaros? dies, a new one will appear thus making it possible to kill multiple of them in one turn.

      Some tips you should know:
If the game reaches the fatigue stage, in the next round the enemy that has the least amount of health will automatically die and their opponent will be crowned as the winner. At the moment, Ice Block and Eye for an Eye seem to be bugged and they are not working as intended. This will be fixed soon. Bomb Squad and Ancient Curse deal no actual damage to you, so don't be afraid! This is the 110th Brawl and it's part of the Frost Festival. If you want to find out more about the Frost Festival, check our main article on it.
