Ny'alotha Race Day 6: Is N'Zoth Possible? Bugs, Secret Phase and More

Recommended Posts

Ny'alotha certainly is relentless, if nothing else then on the drama. In Day 6 we saw the secret Mythic phase get revealed, N'Zoth bug out completely and cause an entire region's N'Zoths to be despawned, Complexitiy Limit get to 25% on the buggy try and 57% on a regular one, Method finally get to N'Zoth and more. We've already covered the secret Mythic phase and the crazy bug that saw US Old Gods disappear for a second, so let's get to the rest of the day.

Method finally caught up to Limit on day 6, at least in terms of progressing on the same boss, as they managed to down Carapace after a couple of 2 and 1% pulls, with the kill itself being one of the more  close and tense finishes I've ever seen. The video starts from phase 3:

Today will see a lot of progress from the EU guild, as they now know all the weirdness with the boss, so we'll see how quickly they can also catch up on Limit's best pulls.

We then had some catching up from other guilds as well, as Pieces downed the harder of the two bosses preceding N'Zoth, Il'gynoth the ex-tree, claiming the World 3rd, EU 2nd, 10/12 and gaining access to Carapace. Exorsus and FatSharkYes also moved up in the world, as they got Drest'agath and Ra-den down, respectively, and both ended up on 9/12.

But let's get back to what the race is really all about, that scheming Old God fellow. As Method kept scratching at the surface and getting warmed up, with their best try for the day at 93%, Complexity Limit were pushing the boss towards the lower half of his HP, trying to figure out just what they were missing. The problem was/is that if what is being presented is actually the way the fight is meant to go, it's pretty much not possible, at the very least with this reset's gear, and possibly not all all. They spent many pulls looking around the Chamber of Heart for some trigger or clue as to what to do to change the way the fight was going, as once they cleared the secret phase and had to go back to N'Zoths chamber, things quickly get out of hand. Until, that is, they came upon this strategy:

As you can see, however, N'Zoth is a patient god, and all they managed to accomplish by waiting downstairs is *filtered* him off (and gather a lot of info on the fight timers and re-confirm the enrage timer). After 117 total pulls Limit decided to call it a day with a 57% best, at least as far as Mythic was concerned. They spent the rest of their time doing more Heroic splits, despite not being too optimistic that gear was the answer here, at least not before the reset.

Here's some discussion on N'Zoth's HP and the general possibility of him going down this reset and in general, if the fight really is supposed to go as we're assuming:

And so, perhaps fittingly for the theme and this expansion in general, Ny'alotha turned out to be... weird. Now it's really just a question of whether Limit missed something in the fight, whether Blizzard failed to trigger an event with the Chamber, or if the boss is just tuned to be impossible (or close to it) on the first reset - which I would be totally fine with personally.

"Oh, we forgot to mention a rank 15 cloak bonus that halves sanity losses in the N'zoth fight.     Also, isn't it great that this race has been going on for more than a week and people are able to enjoy a truly challenging boss?"

This should be pretty much a staple. If you can defeat the final boss in a raid at the highest difficulty without needing many of the upgrades that the raid offers, then you could make the argument that there's no real incentive for the diehard hardcore people to farm loot in the first place.

If it somehow proves mathematically impossible even with BiS gear (excluding the last boss' gear of course) on the entire decked out raid team then it becomes an entirely different story. Of course, we have no way of knowing this for certain until a team actually gets that far and manages to do the mechanics perfectly.

I think Archimonde in WoD so far was the only one that even Blizzard agreed on was (next-to) impossible. Other final raid bosses have at least had a slimmer of a chance with the best raid setups with decked out gears with invulnerability setups.

Nah but this only applies to the top 2-4 guilds in the world. No one else is ever going to be close to killing something like this in the first week regardless of gear. No one else is really pushing 16 hours a day. This really is just about the WF race, as the top guilds have completely separated from the playerbase (even the top Mythic raider playeerbase) when they started raiding 10+ hours a day every day for 1-2 weeks.

Reddit user Bonelord911 tried to organize all specializations by their alignment to the cosmology chart and here's the result!
There's just one slight inconsistency as ItisCaleb and Evonyte pointed out. Monks should be at Spirit, close to reality, since the Chi is a Spirit element according to the Chronicles.

The individual items that comprise the Dark Ranger General's transmog set have been added in the latest Patch 10.2.5 build. The armor set allows players to resemble Sylvanas Windrunner.
Hunters will probably be happy with the addition of the Dark Ranger General's armor set! Here's a preview of the set. At this time, the source of the ensemble remains unknown. It is possibly tied to the Gilnean Reclamation or Trading Post, we'll see.

Blizzard added a new Night Elf child model in this week's Patch 10.2.5 build.
The model is used NPCs that have moved to Bel'ameth and Belanaar harbor, as indicated in the latest development notes.

      BEL’AMETH
Many Night Elves are now starting to arrive in Bel’ameth and Belanaar harbor to settle in their new homes. In addition to these new hubs, explore other areas across the island to find new night elf cosmetic treasures. Here's a detailed look at the new model. The model looks a bit creepy and the feet are somewhat low texture. Hopefully this will get fixed in a future build.

For more details about the new Night Elf home, check the detailed zone preview by MrGM. Did you know Bel'ameth is a neutral city? Even Horde players can enter!

This week's Patch 10.2.5 build brought an updated map of Amirdrassil.
We're talking about the non-phased Amirdrassil zone available to everyone in the latest update. For comparison, here's the old map from the previous PTR build.

And here's the updated map from this week's Patch 10.2.5 build. Bel'ameth has been marked on the map along with other areas like Belanaar port.

Amirdrassil has also been added to the world map in the previous PTR build.

The new Night Elf home Bel'aneth added in Patch 10.2.5 is a neutral city. However, Horde players who enter the city will see a debuff informing them that they are being watched.
The debuff's name is Eyes of the Sentinels and the tooltip reads: Seen and unseen eyes alike are watching your every move.
