Yaoyao Guide and Best Builds for Genshin Impact
Yaoyao is a 4-star polearm user that specializes in spreading Dendro and team healing. Yaoyao is a pure support character with limited abilities to DPS on her own. Her toolkit involve summoning a companion who throws out Radishes, for both damage and healing. She fits well into Hyperbloom and Quicken teams with her turret-style game play.
Strengths and Weaknesses
- Good Dendro spreader
- Heals entire team
- Can heal while off-field
- High Energy cost for Burst
- Constellations are very strong
Yaoyao Support Build
Yaoyao offers very little DPS output, but does perform well as a strong healer. Her ability to spread Dendro off-field is alright, but focuses on single-target rather than a large AoE. However, her skill does have a small explosion radius so enemies that are grouped together can all be hit with a single shot of Dendro. As for her healing, her companion will throw radishes to any character under 70% HP before attacking the enemy. Yaoyao is played as an off-field support with a very high Energy Recharge and HP focus.

Yaoyao scales on HP for healing, ATK for her Dendro damage and Elemental Mastery for her reaction DPS. This unfortunately does not create a whole lot of synergy when it comes to her gear choices and you will need to pick which stat you want her to focus on.
Our weapon recommendations are as follows.
- For healing, we recommend Rightful Reward — a HP based polearm that grants energy every time you are healed and can be crafted at the forge.
- For scaling her Dendro capabilities, we recommend Moonpiercer, which offers a strong ATK buff that can still be applied while off-field.
- Lastly, a decent alternative option is the Favonius Lance which is filled with tons of Energy Recharge and can help with energy generation for your team.
Yaoyao's top choice for Artifacts is the Deepwood Memories set, with the biggest bonus to the set allowing her companions to shred Dendro resistances. This can also occur when she is off-field, triggered through her companion. An alternative 5-star healing set can be the Maiden Beloved set; this boost to her healing abilities and can occur off-field. Finally, the 5-star set Tenacity of the Millelith will work as a team buffing set, but is generally outperformed by the other two 5-star sets due to Yaoyao not generating any shields. For an early leveling set, you can also use the 4-star Instructor set to get her started if you are new to the game.
Combos and How to Play Yaoyao
Yaoyao plays like a turret build, with her Raphanus Sky Cluster bringing out her companion to toss Dendro damage and heals to your characters. The healing effect will prioritize any character below 70% with healing, unfortunately the majority of her companion's targeting abilities are random. If you match this skill up with an active character that focuses on close range damage, you will benefit from both the Dendro damage and the healing effects at the same time. Keep that in mind when you choose your on-field character.
Yaoyao's Elemental Burst ability, Moonjade Descent, allows her to summon multiple companions (Yueguis), as long as she stays on the field for 5 seconds. This can summon up to three ‘turrets' at once, which significantly boosts her damage and healing. Bear in mind, she needs to stay on-field to complete the summons before you swap her off; swap out too early and the skill will stop. This ability will also grant you 15% movement speed and Dendro resistance, which can help in a Bloom if you have Dendro cores detonating all around you. Usually, you will just dodge and dash around until the effect is over and your team is healed to max. Most teams focus on her Elemental Skill as a Dendro spreader and her Elemental Burst as a large group heal.
Yaoyao's Best Team Comps
Yaoyao Hyperbloom Team
Off-fielder | Hydro Spreader | Healer | Main DPS |
---|---|---|---|
Yaoyao | Furina | Kuki Shinobu | Razor |
This Hyperbloom team uses Furina and Yaoyao's combined elements to produce Dendro cores. Each of their Elemental Skills will summon their companions to be left on field while they are swapped out. We can then bring Kuki Shinobu on to the field and use her Sanctifying Ring or Gyoei Narukami Kariyama Rite to pair with Razor for brawling. His Electro abilities combined with Kuki Shinobu's healing, allow for to him brawl on-field while triggering the Dendro cores that are being created around him. We will continue to perform fast swaps using the Elemental Bursts of Yaoyao and Furina to keep our Dendro core production going, then return back to Razor for more brawling while maintaining Kuki Shinobu's Electro field around him. This requires no set rotation, we just need to refresh Elemental Skills as soon as they come up then return Razor to the field.
Yaoyao Turret Team
Support | Off-fielder | Main DPS | Buffer |
---|---|---|---|
Yaoyao | Dendro Traveler | Fischl | Yae Miko |
This team is all about Turrets. Fischl, Yae Miko and Yaoyao all have companion skills that can stay on-field once you swap them out. The goal is to cycle through each of these characters to maintain their companions as much as possible while the Dendro Traveler fights on-field as our reaction driver with Dendro. Once again, we have no set rotation and the game play loop is easy to pick up.
Yaoyao Burgeon Team
Support | Off-fielder | Buffer | Shielder |
---|---|---|---|
Yaoyao | Kamisato Ayato | Thoma | Nahida |
This Burgeon team ocuses on Kamisato Ayato as our main damage dealer, combining his Hydro attacks with Yaoyao's Dendro application to produce Dendro cores. These Dendro cores are then combined with Thoma's abilities to trigger Burgeon reactions on the field. We add Nahida to increases our Dendro application as the burning effects from the reaction with Dendro cores can rapidly eat up your cores.
