Demonology Warlock Rotations
This page contains all relevant information needed for Demonology Warlock before the release of Mists of Pandaria Classic. We will be updating this with all the latest information as soon as more is discovered, so make sure to check back.
Demonology Warlocks received a major rework coming into the expansion. Now focused
around generating as much Demonic Fury as possible from spells like
Shadow Bolt
and
Corruption, then use that
Demonic Fury to weave in and out of
Metamorphosis
While in
Metamorphosis you deal much more damage and some of your spells change. Utilize
spells like
Touch of Chaos, only usable while in
Metamorphosis and also replaces
Shadow Bolt and extends the duration of
Corruption.
Understanding DoTs and Pandemic
As a Demonology Warlock, Corruption and
Doom are important Damage over
Time spells and paying attention to their timers is cruicial to your success. MoP Classic
changed the way DoTs work thanks to the Talent
Pandemic. When you refresh
your DoTs, the duration remaining on the previous effect is added to this new one, up to a maximum of 50%.
This means that if a DoT duration of 20 seconds and you refresh it when there are 10 seconds remaining,
the new duration will be 30 seconds.
Your DoTs benefit from your stats at the time you casted the DoT. This means that Corruption will
take into account your stats at the exact time you cast
Corruption, and it will keep that Haste, or
Spell Power buff even after you lose the buffs yourself.
Single-Target Rotation
The single target rotation for Demonology is more of a priority system and it's pretty straightforward.
Your goal is to stay in Metamorphosis as long as you can. This means you need to generate as much
Demonic Fury as possible by casting
Shadow Bolt,
Corruption and
Hand of Gul'dan,
then shifting into
Metamorphosis to unleash a barrage of brand new spells like
Touch of Chaos,
Carrion Swarm,
Chaos Wave and much more.
Corruption should be on the target as close to 100% uptime as possible thanks to the new and
improved
Pandemic. Pair that with the new
Metamorphosis only ability
Touch of Chaos,
which extends the duration of your
Corruption, you should have zero issues maintaining this DoT'.

Hand of Gul'dan

Summon Doomguard/
Summon Terrorguard right before your Raid either

Heroisms or

Summon Doomguard dynamically updates to your stats, so no need to worry about snapshotting spell power. It deals more damage if the target is below 20%, but it does more damage lusted.
- Cast two
Corruptions. Apply this once. It should never fall off unless a boss mechanic forces you to.
- Cast
Hand of Gul'dan right before the first
Shadowflame stack is about to end, this gives you the double stack.
- Cast two
Metamorphosis as soon as you proc your buffs.
- Recast
Doom. You want to apply this after
Metamorphosis in order to snapshot the Doom.
- Cast
Fel Flame whenever you have to move.
Priority After the Opener
Your goal is to keep Corruption,
Doom and
Shadowflame on the target as often as you
can. Save your
Molten Core stacks and try to use them during either your cooldown or buff windows.
Normal/Caster Form
- Keep
Corruption up at all times.
- Keep
Doom up at all times.
- Cast
Hand of Gul'dan to weave in the
Shadowflame DoT.
- Cast
Soul Fire when the target is below 30% Health.
Shadow Bolt as a filler.
Metamorphosis/Demon Form
Aim to enter Metamorphosis once over 900 Demonic Fury, unless you need to reapply
Doom.
- Keep
Doom up at all times. Make sure to cast it while in
Metamorphosis!
- Cast
Touch of Chaos to refresh
Corruption.
- Cast
Soul Fire when the target is below 30% Health.
- Leave
Metamorphosis when you get under 600 Demonic Fury.
AoE Rotation
- Cast
Corruption any target that will live for at least 20 seconds.
- Cast
Doom on any target that will live long enough for it to tick twice.
- Cast
Hand of Gul'dan in order to keep
Shadowflame on all targets. Try to cast this in time for you to apply the second stack before the first one falls off.
- Cast
Immolation Aura. This pairs extraordinarily well with
Mannoroth's Fury.
- Cast
Carrion Swarm. The knockback can be annoying to some, so it's suggested to pick up a
Glyph of Carrion Swarm if so.
- Cast
Metamorphosis: Void Ray as your filler, while waiting to cast the above mentioned Spells.
