Edgar Guide & Best Builds

Welcome to our Edgar build guide for Neverness to Everness. Edgar is an A-Rank Liquid Character available in Neverness to Everness who utilises the Cosmos element.

In our Edgar guide, we'll cover everything you need to know to get the most out of your Edgar, from building the best gear and weapons, to important skill priorities and combos.

Edgar's Best Arcs

Call of the Twisted City M1
ATK - 395
HP - 37.5%

Cardboard Castle

Increases Healing Bonus by 12% for 10s after the wearer casts a Redirect Skill. Effect does not stack.
Call of the Twisted City, despite just being an A-Rank Arc, is Edgar's best option to further enhance his kit. It passively provides increased HP, scaling his healing, and also provides a separate healing bonus whenever using his Redirect Skill. If you're playing Edgar as a medic-style character, you cannot go wrong with this Arc.
Mind Royale M1
ATK - 555
Break Intensity - 60

Inspiration Terminator

Grants the wearer 10 Ultimate Energy when casting a Redirect Skill. Triggers up to once every 20s.
Mind Royale is more of a supportive option, granting Ultimate Charge with a 20-second cooldown whenever using Edgar's Redirect Skill. This can help build up his Ultimate faster, allowing you to rely on the off-field healing more instead of having to swap in to Edgar for his channeled heal from his Skill. It also provides some Break intensity, allowing Edgar to contribute a bit more to staggering enemies.

Best Console Setups for Edgar

Edgar's console bonus grants 10% additional max HP for every Type III Module used. Edgar has two possible build options for his Console, with one going all-in on healing, while the other provides a bit more DPS support, as long as he is the only user of Speedy Hedgehog in the team.

2-piece: Epic (2): HP +10%.
4-piece: Legendary (4): Increases wearer's Healing Bonus by 20%.
This is Edgar's best Cartridge to further boost his healing output. It provides both a small HP set bonus, as well as a separate 20% healing bonus from the 4-piece set, which you'll definitely want to grab. On top of the set requiring 4 Type 3 Modules for its bonuses, you have room for two additional Type III Modules for a whopping 60% max HP increase from his Console bonus. Below is an example setup with the full set effect active for Edgar.

Edgar Module Bonus

4-piece: Legendary (4): Increases wearer's Healing Bonus by 20%.
Speedy Hedgehog

2-piece: Epic (2): Charge Efficiency +12%.
4-piece: Legendary (4): Increases all allies' ATK by 15% for 20s after the wearer casts Ultimate. Effect does not stack.
Speedy Hedgehog is a great cartridge to use with Edgar if you have no other character running it, since its effects do not stack if multiple characters are using it. It provides a team-wide ATK buff when Edgar uses his Ultimate, which can happen quite often, especially if you end up using Mind Royale as your Arc. It requires 4 Type III Modules, so you can max out his Console Bonus at 60% max HP to boot. This is a setup for less healing, but more group utility. Below you can find a setup that fits 6 Type III Modules. Keep in mind that the ATK buff scales with the characters ATK, so you'll want to gear for more ATK if you're running this setup.

Edgar's Stat Priority

Cartridge Mainstat Priority: Healing Bonus % > HP % > Break Intensity
Substat Priority: HP = HP % > Break Intensity > ATK

Edgar's ability to heal scales directly with his max HP, making it his most desired stat overall. Healing Bonus % is much harder to come by than HP % though, so you will want to try and get it as your Cartridge mainstat. A Max HP Cartridge is also acceptable. You can throw in some additional Break Intensity to help stagger enemies faster as well, or invest more in ATK if you're going to play Speedy Hedgehog on Edgar.

Edgar's Skill Priority

Skill = Ultimate > Support Skill > Basic Attack

Edgar almost never wants to use anything but his Skill and Ultimate to heal. If you're relying on his Ultimate alone for healing, you can ignore his Skill as well, although his Skill does provide smart-healing, meaning it will always heal the most injured character, while his Ultimate only heals the on-field character. There is a breakpoint for his Ultimate at Level 9, where it grants 2% of his max HP as healing, on top of the flat amount, instead of just 1%. This might be worth going for first, while his Skill only scales the flat amount.

Edgar's Awakening Priority

If you have one or multiple copies of a character, you will be able to select Awakenings of your choosing. The following is a recommendation of what order to generally select for Edgar's Awakenings. Remember that you can switch them at any time to try out different ones, or tailor your choices for a specific fight or situation.

Awakening Unlock Order Explanation
One of the Eibon Detectives
(A3)
This Awakening grants more healing to characters that are particularly injured, which can be particularly useful when played in a team with Fadia or Baicang who are constantly at risk of dipping beneath this threshold.
Guardian of the Antique Shop's Light
(A5)
This provides a simple max HP increase. It is not flashy, but it is the only other Awakening that directly increases his healing throughput.
Visitor from Planet Curiosity
(A6)
On top of healing his allies, Edgar can also provide a DEF % boost with this Awakening, further strengthening his defensive purpose in a team.
Intern Anomaly Hunter
(A2)
This Awakening increases the max cooldown extension for his Skill. While this can lead to more consistent healing, the other throughput options in this list do not require additional field-uptime for Edgar, making them better choices.
Anomaly-Loving Observer
(A1)
This Awakening allows Edgar to generate additional Keys of Truth, which extend the duration of his Ultimate when used. Unless this Awakening also increases the amount of Keys you can hold, it is a very weak option, as the current listed cap sits at just 3, which Edgar may reach just through regular gameplay already. If this does add on top of this cap, then this Awakening is quite a bit stronger and moves into first or second position.
Skilled Strategist
(A4)
Edgar's "worst" Awakening is a simple damage increase to his Skill, and does not provide any benefits to why you would play him in the first place. It can be a higher priority if you end up having enough healing already, but in those cases you might be better off just switching Edgar out for another character entirely.

How to Play Edgar

Edgar's purpose in a team is very simple. Sit back and heal! Both his Skill and Ultimate provide healing to either the lowest-HP party member, or the on-field character, allowing him to keep everyone alive. This makes him quite valuable when just starting out with the game, but drops his value over time as you get better at predicting enemy damage patterns, and learn to perfect parry and dodge enemy attacks.

He outlives his usefulness once you've reached a certain proficiency with the game, but until then his gameplay is quite simple. His Skill heals the lowest-HP member for as long as you hold the button (up to a maximum duration), so make sure to switch to Edgar whenever his Skill is off-cooldown - or hold onto it if you don't need any healing right this second. His Ultimate provides healing-over-time over 10 seconds, but only heals the currently active character.
