Neverness to Everness Tier List and Best Character Rankings
Welcome to our comprehensive Neverness to Everness Tier List, where we break down the best characters to help you break down the meta. Our Tier List will rank each character based on their performance in various roles, now that the game has officially launched globally.
Neverness to Everness Tier List
When looking at Character Tier Lists, we always recommend to keep certain key considerations in mind, such as:
- Fun and Gameplay Feel: Would you rather have fun playing an A-Rank character, or dislike playing an S-Rank character? Many characters have very different playstyles, and some might just not be enjoyable to you, even if they're high-performing.
- Style: You're likely going to end up having more fun playing characters whose design you appreciate and enjoy. A player who enjoys a certain character will typically end up performing better on it as well.
- Strength: Naturally, under ideal conditions, some characters end up dishing out higher numbers than others. If you can make full use of a character like that, they will end up carrying you through parts of the game.
- Synergies: There are many synergies in the game, like Esper Cycles. Many characters only unlock their full potential by being paired with other characters.
- High vs Low Spender: Some characters perform well on a budget, while others might outperform them, but only at much higher investment. If you plan to stay mostly F2P, some of the characters that require their signature Arc weapon may not be the best choice for you.

Recent Tier List Changes
Iroi is finally out! She's the third member of the CSU-2 division alongside Shinku and Mint, and while both of them are filling a DPS role, Iroi is a full-fledged Anima support. She is also the first proper support that does not only buff a team's damage, but also provides considerable healing to the entire team.
Iroi functions well as a primarily off-field character, being able to heal the team with her Skill and Ultimate, while also doing damage from off-field. This means you can just swap her in for her Skill and Ultimate, but don't have to have her as an active character longer than that.
Her unique Blossom ( Anima + Cosmos) enhancement creates a copy of a current vita bud, effectively allowing Blossom to produce twice as many Vita Buds, in a similar yet different way as Jiuyuan. This further boosts the DPS of an already strong meta team, while freeing up Hotori for other teams, and Iroi will be seen in many top-tier team compositions for a while to come.
Ultimately this means that Iroi fills a very rare but potent niche, not just as a damage support, but also by being a core member of some of the strongest teams in the current meta. She is our first dedicated support character for Charge teams, as the other current buff characters, Haniel and Sakiri, are Elements that cannot trigger Charge reactions.
With how rare dedicated supports have been in NTE thus far, she will also be a future-proof investment for low-spenders or free-to-play players.
It is no surprise that she firmly places her (barefoot) feet in the S-Tier on our Tier-List.
Previous Tier List Changes
Shinku Release
Shinku has arrived! She's a member of Bureau of Anomaly Control, CSU-2 division alongside A-rank esper Mint. She's an on-field Cosmos Esper that works particularly well within a Charge Esper Cycle team.
Shinku works by building up Defiant Spirit with her Basic Attacks and skills. She then consumes Defiant Spirit with her ultimate to enter her Surging Crimson State enhancing all her abilities. In this enhanced state her basic attacks builds up Fading Reason which her Skill will consume when used and at the end of the state she is able to preform a powerful ultimate attack jumping between enemies to attack them before dealing a large AOE attack.
Her unique Charge( Cosmos + Anima + Lakshana) enhancement allows ultimate charge generated by the Charge reaction to also generate ultimate energy for off-field characters. Additionally, every time Ultimate Charge is generated while she is on the field, it does damage based on her ATK and increases her ATK for 30 seconds, with the buff stacking up to 10 times.
While initially she may seem a little bit weak relative to some of the other recent DPS characters, her DPS potential is incredibly high once you properly build up the necessary reactions to keep her in her Ultimate form as much as possible. Once you manage to accomplish a high uptime, she does great DPS, and without requiring other limited characters, making her a S-Tier character in our Tier List. That being said, she is a bit harder to play than some other DPS, so keep that in mind when deciding on whether you would want to pull for the dragon lady.
Chaos Release
Chaos is out! He is a member of the Bureau of Anomaly Control, but unlike other playable members such as Lacrimosa or Baicang, he is our first member of the EDT-6 team. Chaos is our third Lakshana Character and functions as a on-field main DPS.
Chaos does the majority of his damage through his basic attacks, especially his Final Verdict Basic attack hold-attack. His Ultimate also does a significant amount of damage, but most of his kit is built around building up to Final Verdict as often as possible. Whenever Chaos uses his Basic Attack (besides Final Verdict), Skill, or Ultimate, he is able to build up his special energy bar called Crime. When he reaches maximum Crime he can use an enhanced version of his Final Verdict held basic attack to launch a strong second strike, doing a large amount of damage, and clearing all Crime from his energy bar.
His playstyle on-field revolves around using his skill and ultimate to apply the warrant effect on enemies, which increase his damage to those enemies, and then attacking with his basic attack combo until he is able to set off his Final Verdict at maximum Crime level. His unique Remora ( Cosmos + Lakshana) reaction enhancement causes a big chunk of damage whenever the effect on an enemy ends, allowing Remora to also do damage instead of just slowing down enemies.
Lacrimosa Release
Lacrimosa is here! She is a member of the Bureau of Anomaly Control, ETD-4 alongside Baicang and Skia. Lacrimosa functions largely as a main dps, though with good on-field and off-field presence, she can also function as a sub-DPS. She is our second Chaos esper alongside Daffodill giving us another way to access the Nova, Scorch, and Discord reactions.
Lacrimosa is focused on dealing damage over time with her Nightmare stacks when she hits enemies with her attacks. In addition, she can record enemy attacks and replace her Redirect skill with a copy of an enemy's attack, allowing her a lot of flexibility as you can plan out what her redirect skill does depending on your needs. For example, you can set her up with a strong single target hit for bosses or a large AOE attack for dealing with smaller enemies. When on a team with Hotori, Hotori is able to record the enemy attack Lacrimosa uses like she does any other skill and replays that attack during her ultimate. Her unique Discord ( Chaos + Incantation + Psyche) reaction Enhancement allows her to deal a large amount of damage based on her Attack when discord is applied to a broken enemy. This enhancement works particularly well when she is in a team with Daffodill as Daffodill is a character focused on breaking enemies, allowing their team to take advantage of that effect more often.
Hotori Release
Hotori has arrived, giving us the leader of the Eibon Antique Shop. She is a Sub DPS Cosmos character similar to Zero. However, they function very differently. Hotori is able to record the damage her teammates do with their support or redirect skills within a specific time period by using her own redirect skill. She's then able to do a burst of damage with her Ultimate that also replays the recorded attacks before putting her in a time stopped state, letting her do up to 10 hits for even more damage.
Hotori is able to fill the Sub DPS role on many teams, especially if they are able to use their support and redirect skills often for her to record. Though like other Cosmos characters, she works particularly well with Anima and Lakshana characters to to trigger the three different Esper Cycle reactions associated with those attributes. She personally has a Blossom ( Cosmos + Anima) Enhancement, allowing the blossoms to function even when she has frozen time. This also makes her our first Cosmos character to not have an enhancement to the Charge reaction. This would normally require the team to have both Anima and Lakshana characters.
Rankings Explained
As with all tier lists take the rankings with a grain of salt. All S rank characters are Assumed to be at Awakening level 0, while all A ranks are assumed to be at A6.
- Main DPS: This sections holds all characters designed around mainly being on field to do the majority of their damage.
- Sub DPS: This section holds characters that spend the majority of their playtime off field using skills or Ultimate bursts for the majority of their damage on the team as well as often having some support options built into their kits.
- Support: The Espers in this section are ones who are primarily designed to support the team. Support could be in the form of sustain, such as healing or shields, or buffing the team's damage.
