Jiuyuan Guide & Best Builds

Welcome to our Jiuyuan build guide for Neverness to Everness. Jiuyuan is an S-Rank Solid Character available in Neverness to Everness who utilises the Anima element.

In our Jiuyuan guide, we'll cover everything you need to know to get the most out of your Jiuyuan, from building the best gear and weapons, to important skill priorities and combos.

Jiuyuan's Best Arcs

Reality Refuge M1
ATK - 570
ATK - 30%

Swallowtail

Increases Anima DMG by 15%.
Increases the wearer's Attachment DMG by 10%. Increases the Attachment DMG bonus to 20% for 6s when the wearer casts an Ultimate. Effect does not stack.
Reality Refuge is the best Arc for Jiuyuan, granting a high amount of Attack and Anima damage. Not only that, but it also grants bonuses to Attachment damage, which is a special type of ability that some characters use to damage enemies. Jiuyuan is one of them, with her Lethal Rose Pact being considered Attachment damage. Easily the best choice for her if you play her as a main DPS.
Fluff of Fearlessness M1
ATK - 512
CRIT Rate - 22%

Popping Candy

Increases ATK by 25% for 10s after the wearer casts an Ultimate. Effect does not stack.
Fluff of Fearlessness is another great choice for Jiuyuan. Granting Passive CRIT, and a large amount of ATK when using her Ultimate, this is a much burstier option, and likely her best weapon if you plan on using her as more of a sub-DPS that just switches in for her Ult and bullets. She gets frequent access to her Ultimates, and scaling her into a CRIT DPS is going to be a lot easier with this.
Hethereau's Keeper M1
ATK - 512
ATK - 27.5%

Justice Executioner

Increases ATK by 15%.
Increases damage dealt to Bosses by 15%.
Unlocks Arc: Officer Whisker.
Arc: Officer Whisker — Summons Officer Whisker to assist in combat. Officer Whisker continuously attacks enemies, dealing 100% of the wearer's ATK as damage per hit. Lasts 30s. Cooldown: 60s.
Hethereau's Keeper is a bit of an oddball weapon, as it spawns a summon called Officer Whisker. This summon deals a percentage of the wearer's ATK as damage, and can be a great option for bosses in particular, thanks to the passive damage increase to Bosses that is on the weapon.

Best Console Setups for Jiuyuan

Jiuyuan's Console bonus is a 6% CRIT Rate bonus for every Type II Module.

2-piece: Epic (2): Anima DMG +10%.
4-piece: Legendary (4): Increases wearer's CRIT DMG by 8% when a nearby enemy takes Anima DMG from the Team, up to 7 stacks. Each stack lasts 10s. Effect remains active when the character is off-field.
Fireflies and the Forest is the best Cartridge option for Jiuyuan. The 2-piece set bonus is strong, but the 4-piece in particular is the selling point. Between her CRIT Rate gained from Type II Modules, as well as potential CRIT Rate from one of the suggested Arcs, turning Jiuyuan into a CRIT DPS is not all that difficult. With how many times she hits during many of her attacks, stacking up the CRIT DMG of the 4-set is also not a concern at all, letting her get full value of this Cartridge. Below you can find an example setup with the maximum bonus for Jiuyuan.

Jiuyuan's Stat Priority

Cartridge Mainstat Priority: CRIT Damage = CRIT Rate > Anima Damage = ATK%
Substat Priority: CRIT Damage = CRIT Rate > ATK% > ATK+ = Universal Damage

When turning Jiuyuan into a CRIT DPS, you will definitely want to grab as many substats supporting that build-option as possible.

Jiuyuan's Skill Priority

Ultimate = Basic > Skill > Support Skill

Most of Jiuyuan's damage comes from her Ultimate, her Lethal Rose Pact Attachment, and Rose Pact Bullets triggering the Pact. This lets her generate additional Ultimate Energy, for frequent use of her Ult, which is why you want to level it quickly. The damage of the Pact Bullets and Attachment get scaled through her Basic Attack though, which is why we currently consider it very important to level, alongside her Ultimate. Her Skill only scales the raw damage, and will provide four additional bullets even at level 1.

Jiuyuan's Awakening Priority

If you have one or multiple copies of a character, you will be able to select Awakenings of your choosing. The following is a recommendation for Jiuyuan's Awakening unlock order. Remember that you can switch them at any time to try out different ones, or tailor your choices for a specific fight or situation.

Awakening Unlock Order Explanation
Intel Turns Into Blades
(A2)
This Awakening increases the damage of her Lethal Rose Pact, and also restores part of the damage dealt as HP to the entire team. This is a fantastic all-rounder Awakening to pick first.
Know Every Secret
(A6)
As your second Awakening, you likely want to pick this one, as it deals a large burst of damage whenever a Skill is cast. It has a 5-second cooldown though, but even with that cooldown, it adds quite a bit of additional sustained damage to her kit.
To Know, To Balance
(A1)
This is mostly useful against large groups of enemies, and provides a minor bonus to Jiuyuan's ATK as long as you ensure to keep up the Rose Pact on all enemies simultaneously.
Intel Superiority
(A5)
Her fourth recommended Awakening is her A5. It grants her an essentially unconditional 8% more damage, which will work against all enemies affected by your Pact. Which is, hopefully, happening 100% of the time.
Advantage Established
(A3)
This Awakening provides additional Break when settling her Pact with her Ultimate, which can lead to some nice burst setup if you play her as a sub-DPS and time the occurrence of this effect properly.
Strike to Kill
(A4)
Her Final and likely weakest Awakening is her A4, increasing the damage scaling of her Pact Settlement, which is only a small portion of her damage. It's still useful, especially when you can burst enemies quickly with her Ultimate before moving on to the next group of enemies, but all her other Awakening provide better value.

How to Play Jiuyuan

Jiuyuan's kit is quite confusing to read at first, but fundamentally she simply wants to apply her Lethal Rose Pact to enemies, at which point they start taking damage. This is considered a Drain effect though, and thus is not buffed by any DoT-increasing effects. After a short period of time, or when hitting enemies with her Ultimate, you can "settle" this damage, which means a big burst of Anima damage occurs.

As a main DPS you want to ensure you maintain the debuff and keep triggering settlements regularly, whereas as a sub DPS you can simply switch her in, use her Skill, then her Ult, and consume your Pact Bullets, before swapping her out again.
