TBC Classic Blacksmithing Profession and Leveling 1-375 Guide
Blacksmithing is a great profession in TBC Classic that allows you to craft powerful pieces of armor, weapons, and gear enhancements. There are also specializations you can choose to focus on for specific weapon types or armor that allow you access to some of the best pieces of gear in the game.
In this guide we will go over all the items a player can craft with Blacksmithing, how to efficiently level your new profession, and choosing the right specialization for your needs.
Introduction
Blacksmithing is typically used by Plate armor wearers and those who utilize Physical DPS weapons as the gear you can craft with Blacksmithing is very strong and some of the items you are able to make will be instantly soulbound to the crafter.
Mining is a great complement to Blacksmithing, as having mining will allow you to farm the vast majority of materials you will need to both train and utilize blacksmithing for crafted items in the endgame. Due to the amount of bars used to craft items near max skill level, it can get extremely costly very quickly; having mining greatly mitigates this cost.
You may also find that Blacksmithing can be used to complement your goldmaking in TBC Classic. For more information on this among other methods involving alternative professions, please see our separate guide on the topic:

Blacksmithing Specializations
Blacksmithing has two specializations, Armorsmithing and Weaponsmithing. As the names imply, Armorsmithing focuses on crafting Armor where Weaponsmithing puts an emphasis on Weaponry. Weaponsmithing has three further sub-specializations in Macesmithing, Swordsmithing, and Axesmithing.
Armorsmithing
To become a Armorsmith you must first speak to Krathok Moltenfist in Orgrimmar if you are a member of the Horde or Myolor Sunderfury in Ironforge if you are a member of the Alliance and select the option "I wish to become an Armorsmith." They will direct you to the nearby Armorsmith trainers that will give you the quest to do so:
- Alliance players can get the The Art of the Armorsmith quest from Grumnus Steelshaper in Ironforge.
- Horde Players can get the The Art of the Armorsmith quest from Okothos Ironrager in Orgrimmar.
To complete the quest you will need the following items. Please note that you do not have to craft them; you just need the items themselves to turn in to complete the quest.
Notable Items from Armorsmithing
- Breastplate of Kings — Phase 1
- Bulwark of Kings — Phase 2
