Below will be a list of the optimal consumables and enchants to help you get the most out of your Paladin.

The following list is using the stat priority of Defense (490) > Avoidance > Stamina > Spell Damage > Hit/Expertise.

Best Gems for Protection Paladins in TBC Classic

Powerful Earthstorm Diamond Icon Powerful Earthstorm Diamond is by far the best option for Meta gem.

Solid Star of Elune Icon Solid Star of Elune is your go-to gem for most all sockets. Once you are uncritable and uncrushable, Stamina is by far your best stat for survivability, becoming uncritable and uncrushable is very realistically obtained from your gear without gemming for either.

4.

Best Consumables for Protection Paladins in TBC Classic

Fisherman's Feast Icon Fisherman's Feast or Spicy Crawdad Icon Spicy Crawdad both offer the most stamina of any well-fed buff available in TBC so either achieves the same goal of helping you maximize your stamina. If threat is your major concern Crunchy Serpent Icon Crunchy Serpent, Poached Bluefish Icon Poached Bluefish or Blackened Basilisk Icon Blackened Basilisk all offer 23 spell power well-fed buffs and can help with aggro issues if you struggle more with threat than survivability. Leveling your Cooking helps considerably in reducing the cost of these and as a secondary profession everyone can learn it with no limitations.

Flask of Fortification Icon Flask of Fortification is an extremely powerful consumable that greatly helps with your survivability, as stated earlier once you are unable to be crit or crushed health is king when it comes to survivability for Protection Paladins. Flask of Blinding Light Icon Flask of Blinding Light is something you can also consider if you are struggling with threat but are able to survive without the added health from Fortification.

Super Mana Potion Icon Super Mana Potions are extremely important as your Mana regeneration can be limited if you are not actively tanking mobs.

Demonic Rune Icon Demonic Rune Dark Rune Icon Dark Rune both grant Mana in exchange for health and can allow you to sustain your max DPS rotation on longer fights to help with threat, using them can be dangerous while tanking so plan accordingly. Using these allows you to double-dip on the Mana gain from these items as well as the healing you will receive granting you Mana from Spiritual Attunement IconSpiritual Attunement.

Any Scrolls of Strength/Agility/Intellect are just an added benefit.

Superior Wizard Oil Icon Superior Wizard Oil is going to be your best choice for weapon enhancements as the added spell power greatly increases your threat generation as Paladin's threat comes largely from spells.
