On this page, you will find Protection Warrior specific information pertaining to each boss in the Ny'alotha raid.

Additionally, this page assumes you are familiar with the mechanics on each fight. The basics of the tank mechanics are not explained, but rather advice is given on how Protection Warriors can best deal with those mechanics.

Please note that this page is a work in progress. It will be updated with new information once the encounters have been tested more thoroughly and new strategies are discovered.

Tips

Use Heroic Leap Icon Heroic Leap and Intercept Icon Intercept to get back to or away from the boss when needed.

You should use Spell Reflection Icon Spell Reflection to reduce the damage taken from the second cast of Searing Breath Icon Searing Breath.

When you are not tanking the boss, try to stand on the side of him as to not get hit by Tail Swipe Icon Tail Swipe or Searing Breath Icon Searing Breath.

Tips

Use Heroic Leap Icon Heroic Leap to soak the orbs in Phase 2 when needed.

If you need to taunt 2 adds in quick succession, you can use Taunt Icon Taunt and then Heroic Leap Icon Heroic Leap to instantly reset the cooldown of Taunt.

Use Spell Reflection Icon Spell Reflection to reduce the damage coming from Consuming Shadows Icon Consuming Shadows.

Tips

Use Spell Reflection Icon Spell Reflection to reduce the damage taken from Shadow Shock Icon Shadow Shock.

This encounter has no physical damage, meaning that you can spend most of your rage on Ignore Pain Icon Ignore Pain. Shield Block Icon Shield Block should be used only when you want to take advantage of the increased damage it provides for Shield Slam Icon Shield Slam.

6.1.

Tips

Use your cooldowns like Shield Wall Icon Shield Wall, Spell Reflection Icon Spell Reflection, and Demoralizing Shout Icon Demoralizing Shout to reduce the damage taken from Abyssal Strike.

Spell Reflection Icon Spell Reflection can be used to deflect Touch of Pain.

Heroic Leap Icon Heroic Leap and Intercept Icon Intercept can be used to position quickly for Torment

Additionally, position the boss in a way that Void Ritual Icon Void Ritual is safe to stand in and that you do not get knocked off the side of the room or into Azshara by Abyssal Strike

Tips

Use Shockwave Icon Shockwave to stun the adds that spawn when needed.

As this fight has a lot of physical damage, it is very important to keep Shield Block Icon Shield Block up when actively tanking the boss.

Shad'har the Insatiable

We advise you to use the following talents against Shad'har the Insatiable.

We advise you to use the following essences against Shad'har the Insatiable.

8.1.

Tips

Crush Icon Crush can be blocked, which means that, as a Protection Warrior, we should be the ones taking this ability.

Be careful not to take both Crush Icon Crush and Dissolve Icon Dissolve, as Crush increases the damage you take from Dissolve by a lot, meaning that you will most likely die.

Use Spell Reflection Icon Spell Reflection to reduce the magic damage taken in this fight.

Drest'agath

Tips

Use Heroic Leap Icon Heroic Leap and Intercept Icon Intercept to make dropping Volatile Seed Icon Volatile Seed a lot faster and easier.

Use Rallying Cry Icon Rallying Cry when the raid is about to take damage from Entropic Crash Icon Entropic Crash and people are low on health.

Tips

Be sure to face the boss away from the raid so they will not get hit by Eye of N'Zoth Icon Eye of N'Zoth.

Use Rallying Cry Icon Rallying Cry when needed to keep people alive during Cursed Blood Icon Cursed Blood.

Use a cooldown like Demoralizing Shout Icon Demoralizing Shout, Spell Reflection Icon Spell Reflection or Shield Wall Icon Shield Wall to reduce the damage from the second Eye of N'Zoth Icon Eye of N'Zoth.

Vexiona

We advise you to use the following talents against Vexiona.

Tips

Shattered Resolve Icon Shattered Resolve can be reflected back to the boss with Spell Reflection Icon Spell Reflection at the last second to deal damage to it.

This fight has a considerable amount of magic damage, so be sure to make good use of your cooldowns to reduce it as much as possible.

Ra-den the Despoiled

12.1.

Tips

Try to use a defensive cooldown like Spell Reflection Icon Spell Reflection or Demoralizing Shout Icon Demoralizing Shout together with Ignore Pain Icon Ignore Pain before getting hit by Nullifying Strike Icon Nullifying Strike.

You should try to have as low health as possible before getting hit by Decaying Strike Icon Decaying Strike. This will leave a Decaying Wound Icon Decaying Wound debuff on the target damaging them based on the health they had when they were hit by Decaying Strike. You can use Last Stand Icon Last Stand after getting hit by the Decaying Strike to give yourself a health buffer.

Tips

Mandible Slam Icon Mandible Slam is blockable and you can also use Spell Reflection Icon Spell Reflection to deflect Black Scar Icon Black Scar that is applied after Mandible Slam.

You can use Spell Reflection Icon Spell Reflection to deflect Nightmare Antibody Icon Nightmare Antibody.

Tips

Anguish Icon Anguish, Void Gaze Icon Void Gaze,Probe Mind Icon Probe Mind and Paranoia Icon Paranoia can all be deflected with Spell Reflection Icon Spell Reflection.

Mindwrack Icon Mindwrack and the physical part of Void Lash Icon Void Lash are blockable. Because Mindwrack is blockable you should also be the one tanking the Thought Harvester.
