Welcome to our guide to the Unmaking, the eighth normal trial of Dawntrail released in Patch 7.5 Trail to the Heavens. This guide aims to prepare players for the encounter so they will know what to expect, with simple mechanic instructions and notes on what to watch out for.

1.

Introduction to The Unmaking

Trial 8 Banner FFXIV

Borne by the key on a gleaming golden path, you emerge onto the red moon into the midst of carnage. Your faithful allies of the Thirteenth, Zero and Golbez, battle tirelessly to drive back hordes of voidsent, all the while watched by a sinister form in the dark. Wielding the boundless power of the void, the dread sovereign Enuo has risen from depths unfathomable, intent on reducing all existence to still, silent nothingness. Will their bleak vision of a world unmade be realized? Or will life and Light prevail?

2.

Enuo Trial Guide

Enuo is fought on a circular arena. This arena changes during the adds phase. There is a large void portal outside the arena which moves and is used for certain mechanics.

2.1.

Phase One

In phase one, you fight Enuo.

2.1.1.

Phase One Mechanics

The following abilities are introduced in the first phase.

  • Meteorain: Raidwide AoE damage.
  • Naught Grows: Enuo tethers to the void portal, channeling to it and doing a circle AoE from its location.
  • Naught Wakes: Enuo moves the void portal.
  • Gaze of the Void: Enuo summons void orbs starting north and rotating. These will do conal AoEs in the order they spawned.
  • Deep Freeze: Proximity markers on both tanks.
  • Naught Hunts: Two void orbs chase two targeted players, doing circle AoEs while following them. Naught Hunts Another chooses two new targets.
  • Shrouded Holy: AoE stack marker on a healer.
  • Meltdown: Marked AoEs under all players, followed by marked AoEs on all players.
  • Vacuum: Curved line AoEs from the centre of the arena. These will spawn large void AoE balls at the end of the AoE.
  • All For Naught: Turns the arena pitch-black, and summons a proximity marker in the middle.
2.1.2.

Phase One Strategy

  • Pay attention to where the void portal is, and go away from it when Enuo tethers to it.
  • The conal AoEs from Gaze of the Void are fast. Start behind the first one and move into it when it goes off.
  • If targeted for Naught Hunts, try to not cross the AoEs through the middle. The second target may have to put AoEs through the middle depending on where they are. If not targeted, watch where they go to avoid AoEs.
  • There will always be a side with three long curved AoEs for Vacuum, which creates a small safe zone close to the boss.
2.2.

Adds Phase: Unbecoming

In the adds phase, you enter a pitch-black arena with a proximity marker in the middle. Kill adds and dodge line AoEs to escape.

2.2.1.

Adds Phase Mechanics

The following mechanics are introduced in the adds phase.

  • Uncast Shadow: Adds that cast Nothingness, a line AoE.
  • Looming Shadow: Adds that tether to tanks.

Once enough adds are killed, move towards the light. Destroy the Beacon in the Dark while dodging AoEs. Once it's destroyed, you move on to the final phase. Stand behind Zero to be invulnerable from Enuo's ultimate attack.

2.3.

Phase Two

In phase two, you fight Enuo once again.

2.3.1.

Phase Two Mechanics

The following mechanics are introduced or modified in phase two.

  • Naught Grows: Now the void portal can channel to Enuo. This creates a circle AoE around the boss instead of the portal.
  • Almagest: Raidwide magic damage. Increases the number of void portals the first time it's cast.
  • Dimension Zero: Multi-hit line AoE stack marker on a healer.
2.3.2.

Phase Two Strategy

  • The rest of the fight does the mechanics from phase one with a faster pace.
  • Look at the tether direction when Enuo casts Naught Grows. If any void portal tethers to it, there's an AoE under the boss and the other portal. If Enuo is channeling to both portals, dodge to the sides of the arena relative to the void portals.
3.

Rewards

Completion of this duty rewards 12 Allagan Tomestones of Mathematics and 9 Allagan Tomestones of Mnemonics.
