Introductions

Anaxa is a 5★ Wind Character following the Path of Erudition. Anaxa is highly flexible and can be played as either a Main DPS or as a Sub DPS for other Erudition DPS.
Our Anaxa Build Guide will show you the best Lightcones, Relics and Team Compositions build the best Anaxa you can.

Anaxa's Best Light Cone

The percentage numbers listed showcase the relative DPS increase when you take into account both the Lightcone Effect(s) and Cones Base Stats.

Life Should Be Cast to Flames (S1)
120%
When the wearer's turn starts, regenerates 10 Energy. If the enemy target has a Weakness implanted by the wearer, increases the wearer's DMG dealt to it by 60.0 / 70.0 / 80.0 / 90.0 / 100%. When an enemy target gets attacked by the wearer, the wearer decreases the target's DEF by 12.0 / 15.0 / 18.0 / 21.0 / 24.0%, lasting for 2 turn(s). The same types of effects cannot stack.

Sources: Event Warp (limited)
This is Anaxa's 5★ Signature and is his best Lightcone by far. This cone uniquely provides a large amount of Energy per turn which gives Anaxa a consistent 2 turn Ultimate Cadence which synergises with his best relic set Eagle of Twilight Line. The Lightcone also provides significant damage buffs for both Anaxa (DMG %) and the team (DEF % reduction on enemies) further pushing it ahead of other options.
Into the Unreachable Veil (S1)
104%
Increases the wearer's CRIT Rate by 12.0 / 14.0 / 16.0 / 18.0 / 20.0%. When the wearer uses their Ultimate, increases the wearer's Skill DMG and Ultimate DMG dealt by 60.0 / 70.0 / 80.0 / 90.0 / 100%, lasting for 3 turn(s). After the wearer uses their Ultimate, if this Ultimate consumed 140 or more Energy, recovers 1 Skill Point.

Sources: Event Warp (limited)
The Herta's 5★ Signature Lightcone. This Lightcone provides a very significant boost to DMG comparable to Anaxa's Signature and the Skill Point generation can ease team Skill Point problems with certain other characters like Huohuo or Bronya.
We do not suggest giving this to Anaxa as it would still be best on The Herta and it is common to play both units together in the same team.
The Great Cosmic Enterprise (S5)
100%
Increases the wearer's ATK by 8.0 / 10.0 / 12.0 / 14.0 / 16.0%. For every 1 different Weakness Type an enemy target has, increases the DMG dealt to it by the wearer by 4.0 / 5.0 / 6.0 / 7.0 / 8.0%. Up to a max of 7 Weakness Types can be taken into account for this effect.

Sources: Mission Reward
A 4★ Lightcone from the Star Rail WORLD event. This synergises perfectly with Anaxa as he implants a lot of Weaknesses meaning he will consistently get the full 56% DMG increase from this Lightcone.
Today Is Another Peaceful Day (S5)
100%
After entering battle, increases the wearer's DMG based on their Max Energy. Each point of Energy increases DMG by 0.2 / 0.25 / 0.3 / 0.35 / 0.4%. A max of 160 Energy will be taken into account for this.

Sources: Nameless Glory
This Lightcone provides a 56% DMG buff for Anaxa and this has excellent Base ATK for a 4★ Lightcone. This Lightcone is better than the other Battlepass option A Dream Scented in Wheat but we do not suggest investing in either as the event Lightcone The Great Cosmic Enterprise is stronger.
Eternal Calculus (S5)
93%
Increases the wearer's ATK by 8.0 / 9.0 / 10.0 / 11.0 / 12.0%. After using an attack, for each enemy target hit, additionally increases ATK by 4.0 / 5.0 / 6.0 / 7.0 / 8.0%. This effect can stack up to 5 times and last until the next attack. If there are 3 or more enemy targets hit, this unit's SPD increases by 8.0 / 10.0 / 12.0 / 14.0 / 16.0%, lasting for 1 turn(s).

Sources: Herta's Store
Eternal Calulus provides Anaxa with a large amount of ATK % in AoE Encounters and a SPD buff if there are at least 3 enemies. This SPD buff can make SPD tuning harder on encounters where it is not consistently up so we do not suggest using this Lightcone if you have similar performing alternatives.
Night on the Milky Way (S1)
92.6%
For every enemy on the field, increases the wearer's ATK by 9.0 / 10.5 / 12.0 / 13.5 / 15.0%, up to 5 stacks. When an enemy is inflicted with Weakness Break, the DMG dealt by the wearer increases by 30.0 / 35.0 / 40.0 / 45.0 / 50.0% for 1 turn.

Sources: Stellar Warp
Grants a large ATK % buff based on the number of enemies active making it significantly stronger than listed for AoE fights specifically. You also get a DMG % buff after a Weakness Break making it even stronger on fights with weaker adds that Anaxa can keep breaking.
Today Is Another Peaceful Day (S1)
91.7%
After entering battle, increases the wearer's DMG based on their Max Energy. Each point of Energy increases DMG by 0.2 / 0.25 / 0.3 / 0.35 / 0.4%. A max of 160 Energy will be taken into account for this.

Sources: Nameless Glory
Geniuses' Repose (S5)
91%
Increases the wearer's ATK by 16.0 / 20.0 / 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0%. When the wearer defeats an enemy, the wearer's CRIT DMG increases by 24.0 / 30.0 / 36.0 / 42.0 / 48.0% for 3 turn(s).

Sources: Stellar Warp
This is a limited 4★ Lightcone that gives a decent amount of ATK% and a large CRIT DMG buff when killing an enemy. With consistent uptime on kills this Lightcone is approximately 98.8% as strong as The Great Cosmic Enterprise.
The Seriousness of Breakfast (S5)
89%
Increases the wearer's DMG by 12.0 / 15.0 / 18.0 / 21.0 / 24.0%. For every enemy defeated by the wearer, the wearer's ATK increases by 4.0 / 5.0 / 6.0 / 7.0 / 8.0%, stacking up to 3 time(s).

Sources: Mission Reward, Forgotten Hall Store, Echo of War
Sagacity (S5)
86.5%
When the wearer uses their Ultimate, increases ATK by 24.0 / 30.0 / 36.0 / 42.0 / 48.0% for 2 turn(s).

Best Relics and Planar Ornaments for Anaxa

Best Relics for Anaxa

These are the best Relic Sets to build for Anaxa. The percentage shows the relative difference to Anaxa's best performing set.

Eagle of Twilight Line
100%
2-Piece Set: Increases Wind DMG by 10.0%.
4-Piece Set: After the wearer uses their Ultimate, their action is Advanced Forward by 25.0%.
Anaxa's Best Relic Set. Anaxa is a Wind Character so he gets the 10% DMG from the 2pc. Anaxa builds his ultimate every 2 turns which is very quick so the 4pc ends up being ~14% more actions for him making this the set his best.
When playing with Sunday or another Action Advance unit this set has no competition as Anaxa can effectively build his ultimate every turn cycle since he will take two turns back to back within which he generates his Ultimate. When building his ultimate this fast he is getting an effective 33.3% speedup to his turn timer making this his best Relic Set even without rolling good Substats as it lets him skip SPD boots and build ATK% boots.
Genius of Brilliant Stars
92.5%
2-Piece Set: Increases Quantum DMG by 10.0%.
4-Piece Set: When the wearer deals DMG to the target enemy, ignores 10.0% DEF. If the target enemy has Quantum Weakness, the wearer additionally ignores 10.0% DEF.
Anaxa gains a significant DPS increase from the DEF Ignore on this Relics 4pc despite getting no benefit from the 2pc due to it being Quantum DMG. Anaxa can guarantee the enemy will almost always be weak to Quantum thanks to his constant Weakness Implants. The DEF Ignore is slightly worse without his Signature Lightcone but it will still outperform Scholar Lost in Erudition.
Scholar Lost in Erudition
87%
2-Piece Set: Increases CRIT Rate by 8.0%.
4-Piece Set: Increases DMG dealt by Skill and Ultimate by 20.0%. After using Ultimate, additionally increases the DMG dealt by the next Skill by 25.0%.
The 2pc provides CRIT Rate which is an excellent DPS stat and the 4pc provides Ultimate and Skill DMG. This set can be competitive when you are not playing Anaxa with an Action Advance support like Sunday although Genius of Brilliant Stars will still be slightly stronger.

Best Planar Ornaments

Izumo Gensei and Takama Divine Realm
101%
2-Piece Set: Increases the wearer's ATK by 12.0%. When entering battle, if at least one teammate follows the same Path as the wearer, then the wearer's CRIT Rate increases by 12.0%.
This is Anaxa's best Planar Ornament when played with another Erudition DPS. This Planar Ornaments main effect of granting 12% CRIT Rate only works when another character of the same path ( Erudition). The combined effect of 12% ATK and 12% CRIT Rate is slightly stronger tha Rutilant Arena. If you are playing Anaxa as the only Erudition unit on the team then you should not run this set or if you would like him to be more flexible in the future.
Rutilant Arena
100%
2-Piece Set: Increases the wearer's CRIT Rate by 8.0%. When the wearer's current CRIT Rate reaches 70.0% or higher, DMG dealt by Basic ATK and Skill increases by 20.0%.
This is Anaxa's best universal Planar Ornament. You get 8% CRIT Rate and if your CRIT Rate is 70% or higher increases DMG dealt by Basic ATK and Skills by 20%. Basic ATK and Skills make up approximately 85% of Anaxa's Damage so this is very good for him.

Anaxa Build Comments

Character Explanation Gearing Tips Main DPS vs Sub DPS Differences

Character Explanation

Anaxa's core mechanic comes from his Talent Tetrad Wisdom Reigns Thrice. Anaxa's Talent will apply random Weakness Implants (lasting for 3 turns and prioritising weaknesses they do not currently have) to targets hit by his abilities. If an enemy has five different Weakness he will inflict "Qualitative Disclosure" on that enemy.

A Weakness Implant will allow damage of that type to deplete the enemies Toughness and will lower the enemies RES for that element by 20% making it equivalent to them being on Element. This can be a large DPS increase in many of scenarios and allows him to function well no matter what the enemies weaknesses are.

When Anaxa uses a Basic ATK or Skill on a target with "Qualitative Disclosure" it will cause him to automatically use his Skill again on that target. This will not consume Skill Points and will not trigger this additional instance again. This means that Anaxa can get two uses of his Skill per turn or one Basic ATK and one Skill.

Anaxa's A6 trace Roaming Signifier makes it so he gets an equal amount of Energy from both Basic ATK and Skill — 30 each. If there were no targets with "Qualitative Disclosure" at the start of his turn, which means he will not be able to get the extra Skill use, he will generate 30 Energy. This means he will always generate 60 energy per turn no matter what which guarantees his Ultimate Cadence.

Anaxa's A4 Trace Imperative Hiatus will give buffs depending on how many Erudition Characters are on the team. As Anaxa is an Erudition Character this will always be at least 1 so he will always get the 150% CRIT DMG. If there is a 2nd Erudition Character on the team then Anaxa will increase the DPS of all allies by 50%.

Gearing Tips

Your first priority with Anaxa is reaching 100% CRIT Rate as he gets a large amount of free CRIT DMG from his A4 Trace Imperative Hiatus. If you are playing with Sunday Action Advancing Anaxa then you should reach 80% Sheet CRIT Rate as Sunday will provide the remaining 20%, otherwise aim for 100%.

Anaxa's Ideal SPD depends on his Relic Set. If you are using Eagle of Twilight Line then his SPD breakpoints will be lower than the natural SPD breakpoints. Our recommendation is to aim for the 145 SPD breakpoint as it is the most efficient in the most content and achieving the 160 SPD breakpoint requires significantly more Substats invested in SPD. If you are using Eagle of Twilight Line then we explain below the impact it has on the amount of SPD you need to gear.

With Eagle of Twilight Line you will not need to achieve the exact SPD breakpoint on Anaxa as the Action Advance from Eagle of Twilight Line will boost you. This table below will show the sheet SPDs you need to reach a Natural/Effective SPD Breakpoint depending on your Ultimate Cadence while using Eagle of Twilight Line. If you are playing an Action Advance unit like Sunday or Bronya you will have an effective 1 Turn Cycle Ultimate as you will take 2 Turns per Cycle and it takes Anaxa 2 turns to build ultimate.

Natural 2 Turn Cycle Ultimate (No AA Support) 1 Turn Cycle Ultimate (AA Support)
145 127 109
160 140 120

If you are not using Eagle of Twilight Line we do not recommend going for the 160 Effective SPD breakpoint without an external source of SPD like Cerydra as it would a significant investment of SPD Substats and it no longer be efficient. We instead recommend targeting the 145 Effective SPD breakpoint.

For Anaxa ATK% and CRIT DMG rolls are approximately equal in value with a slight preference for CRIT DMG. You should always prioritise having more useful Substat rolls over having more of either CRIT DMG or ATK%. For those comparing two different relic sets with equal number of substat rolls then a good rule of thumb for Anaxa is to try and get at least one ATK% roll for every 2 CRIT DMG rolls on gear.

Main DPS vs Sub DPS Differences

The main difference in gameplay between Main DPS and Sub DPS Anaxa is preserving Skill Points. With Main DPS Anaxa you will want Anaxa to be the main spender of Skill Points but when he is acting as a Sub DPS you will always want to guarantee your Main DPS will have enough Skill points to use their more damaging abilities on their turn. Anaxa can be used to spend Spare Skill points in an efficient manner as he still will do good DPS even as a Sub DPS.

Anaxa will still always use at least one Skill per turn even if you use a Basic ATK if the enemy has "Qualitative Disclosure". This makes Anaxa an excellent unit for The Herta as he can still generate Energy and Stacks without necessarily using Skill Points and can convert Excess Skill Points into damage at a good Rate.

Anaxa's Best Eidolons

Listed below are our calculations for Anaxa's Eidolons. Some Eidolons have different power depending on the situation creating a range. "Diff E0" will always use the Lower-bound of previous Eidolons.
Anaxa's first two Eidolons are quite powerful and he has uncharacteristically strong eidolons for the remaining Eidolons. We do not suggest investing beyond E2 as E3 lowers the efficiency of further investment unless you are going all the way to E6.

Eidolon % Diff % Diff E0 Comment
Magician, Isolated by Stars 12.6% 12.6% Good E1 as DEF Shred is universally strong. The extra skill point helps make openers smoother, especially as a Sub DPS.
Soul, True to History 20.2%% 35.3% Very strong E2. This provides significant DPS via the RES Shred and means he can consistently have 5 Implants on the first turn to guarantee a skill repeat.
Pupil, Etched into Cosmos 0.9% 36.5% Weak as most of his damage comes from Skill.
Blaze, Plunged to Canyon 19.4% 62.9% Incredibly strong E4 Eidolon.
Embryo, Set Beyond Vortex 8.8% 77.2% Excellent as most of his damage comes from his Skill and improving his Talent DMG amp is also strong.
Everything Is in Everything 46.4% 159.4% Excellent for Hypercarry Anaxa as the best supports are not Erudition. Still strong for Sub DPS Anaxa.
