Chaos Guide & Best Builds

Welcome to our Chaos build guide for Neverness to Everness. Chaos is a S-Rank Condensate Character available in Neverness to Everness who utilizes the Lakshana element.

In our Chaos guide, we'll cover everything you need to know to get the most out of him, from building the best gear and weapons, to important skill priorities and combos.

Chaos's Best Arcs

What's Desired M1
ATK - 570
CRIT Rate - 24%

Golden Fleece

Increases the wearer's Lakshana DMG by 20%. Increases the wearer's CRIT DMG by 40% for 20s when they cast a Redirect Skill or Ultimate. Resets the duration when triggered again.
What's Desired is Chaos's signature and most powerful Arc. It passively increases his Lakshana damage, as well as boosting his CRIT DMG when he uses his Skill or Ultimate. The large CRIT Rate substat helps Chaos reach a very high CRIT Rate, allowing him to take full advantage of the CRIT DMG increase when paired with Modules that grant Crit as well.
Fluff of Ferocity M1
ATK - 512
ATK - 27.5%

Knight's Candy

Increases wearer's CRIT DMG by 4% for 10s after landing a critical hit, up to 10 stacks. Resets the duration when triggered again.
Fluff of Ferocity is another great Arc option for Chaos. It has a very high ATK substat, helping his damage and the potential for a CRIT DMG increase on par with What's Desired at M1 of both. However, the CRIT damage increase requires him to CRIT consistently to build up to the maximum, meaning you must prioritize CRIT Rate in his console and all his Modules to be able to benefit from it fully.
Camellia Society M1
ATK - 666
CRIT Rate - 12%

Silent Garden

Increases CRIT DMG by 12% for 5s when the wearer's HP is reduced without taking damage, up to 4 stacks. Unlocks Arc: Silent Garden.
Consumes 5% of current HP and randomly performs one of the following attacks (CD 25s) in Arc: Silent Garden:
Harsh Rebuke: Rains merciless rebukes like leaves in a storm, dealing 5 instances of Incantation DMG of 24% ATK.
Incessant Nagging: Pierces targets with sharp, cutting words like thorns, dealing 6 instances of Incantation DMG of 18% ATK; the final instance deals double damage.
Camellia Society is a decent freely available S rank Arc, if you do not have the above two options. With a very high Base ATK and an okay CRIT Rate substat (about half of what his signature provides), the main issue with this weapon is the Arc Effect requiring HP drain without taking damage. While the Arc does provide a way to drain some HP by itself, the cooldown only allows it to gain one stack of the CRIT DMG increase.
A Time Will Come M5
ATK - 475
CRIT Rate - 20%

Tidal Ascension

Grants the wearer 10% ATK, 10% DEF, and 10% HP when the team has at least 3 different Esper Types.
A Time Will Come is the best A rank option for Chaos. It provides him with a very strong CRIT Rate increase as well as a good ATK, DEF, and HP buff, as long as you build the team with three different Esper element types. At M5, this Arc is able to perform about on par with an M1 Camellia Society for Chaos, and still quite a bit behind the Top 2 options.

Best Console Setups for Chaos

Chaos' Console bonus is a 16% CRIT DMG bonus for every Type III Module.

2-piece: Epic (2): Lakshana DMG +10%.
4-piece: Legendary (4): Increases Crit Chance by 14%. Team triggering Remora or Stain increases the bonus to 14% for 20s.
Street Boxer is the best Cartridge option for Chaos. This increases his Lakshana DMG and also provides a passive CRIT Chance bonus that doubles when the team triggers Remora or Stain. This will be very helpful for Chaos to max out his Crit Rate, especially when you have his signature Arc. Below is an example of a maximized Console for Chaos.

Chaos's Stat Priority

Cartridge Mainstat Priority: Crit Rate > ATK% > CRIT DMG > Lakshana DMG
Substat Priority: CRIT Rate > Crit DMG > Universal Damage > ATK% > ATK+

Chaos is an attack scaling esper that wants to CRIT often, especially when using his signature Arc. With a CRIT Rate mainstat and one of the CRIT Rate Substat Arcs, it is easy to reach 100% CRIT Rate, especially when running a team able to trigger one of the two Lakshana reactions for his Cartridge bonus.

Chaos's Skill Priority

Basic Attack > Ultimate > Skill > Support Skill

Chaos is able to do a big chunk of his damage with his Final Verdict basic attack, making it his first priority. After that, the Ultimate provides his next biggest source of damage, and his skill is prioritized after.

Chaos's Awakening Priority

If you have one or multiple copies of a character, you will be able to select Awakenings of your choosing. The following is a recommendation for Chaos' Awakening unlock order. Remember that you can switch them at any time to try out different ones, or tailor your choices for a specific fight or situation.

Awakening Unlock Order Explanation
Charge / Sin
(A2)
The first recommended Awakening for Chaos is his A2. This provides him with a good defense ignore whenever his skill is used on an enemy, and is a great choice if you only have one Awakening for him.
False Origin
(A6)
His second recommended Awakening is his A6, as it completely fills his Crime resource when he uses his Ultimate. This allows him to immediately use the stronger version of his Final Verdict. It also pairs well with the defense ignore of his A2, if you are attacking an enemy with Warrant.
Emberflare
(A3)
Chaos's third recommended Awakening is his A3. It significantly improves his CRIT DMG after using his Ultimate. If you have him built with a high CRIT Rate and can basically guarantee a crit on Final Verdict, pairing this with his A6 becomes a very strong combo. If you only have 2 Awakenings, playing A2 and A3 together can be a great choice for finishing fights quickly.
Piercing Insight
(A1)
His fourth recommended Awakening is his A1. This awakening increases his crime generation, helping him use Final Verdict more often in his fights. This Awakening pairs well with his A2, though for his damage overall this is less of a priority than his A6 or A3.
Drowning Tide
(A4)
His fifth recommended Awakening is his A4. This allows his Warrant to transfer to different enemies after the one afflicted dies and refreshes the duration, helping Warrant stay in effect when fighting groups of enemies. In some of the Beyond the Rails stages, this can be quite valuable if you notice yourself running out of steam against the waves of enemies.
Voidgaze
(A5)
The last Awakening for Chaos is his A5. This increases the damage he deals to a Warrant-affected enemy, as long as it is the only enemy. This Awakening is interchangeable with his A4 depending on if you are going to be fighting a group of enemies or a single enemy like a boss.

How to Play Chaos

Chaos's playstyle revolves around building up Crime and casting Final Verdict for a chunky hit of damage. His skill inflicts Warrant on enemies, making them take more damage, and you'll want to use it whenever possible to maintain this effect. His Ultimate also inflicts Warrant and increases his crime generation, allowing him to build up to his Final Verdict attack even more often.
