Iroi Guide & Best Builds

Welcome to our Iroi build guide for Neverness to Everness. Iroi is an S-Rank Liquid Character available in Neverness to Everness who utilizes the Anima element.

In our Iroi guide, we'll cover everything you need to know to get the most out of her, from building the best gear and weapons, to important stat priorities and combos.

Disclaimer! The details below are a combination of content showcased in the 1.2 Live Stream, Datamining, and our own knowledge of the game. While we feel confident in the presented information, and team and gear recommendations, things are subject to change until the character officially launches.

Iroi's Best Arcs

The Wrong Gate M1
ATK - 570
ATK - 30%

Reverie Gate

Increases ATK by 16%.
Increases the allies' DMG dealt by 15% when the wearer heals, and increases the wearer's Anima DMG dealt by 30% for 20s. Resets the duration when triggered again. This effect is unique within the team.
Iroi's Signature Arc will be her best in slot, as it grants her a large amount of Attack and Anima damage, increasing her personal damage greatly. In addition, the all DMG buff to the entire team makes is a valuable support Arc for any team she is in.
Fluff of Fleetness M1
ATK - 512
CRIT DMG - 44%

Motor Candy

Increases 5% ATK every 1s while the wearer is the active character, up to 5 stacks. Resets when the wearer leaves the field.
Fluff of Fleetness is a good alternative Arc for Iroi for her own personal damage, providing her with a good amount of CRIT DMG and attack as long as she is on field.
Youthful Fantasy M1
ATK - 570
ATK - 30%

"Black Tome"

Increases Break Intensity by 60.
Seals Arc: Black Tome with two chains by default. Unleashes 1 chain each time any character on the team casts a Support Skill. Makes Arc: Black Tome available when all two chains are unleashed.
Arc: Black Tome — Summons the Black Tome for 20s. Designates an enemy every 5s. Increases the wearer's Chaos DMG dealt to designated enemies by 20%. Deals Chaos DMG equal to 200% of the wearer's ATK to designated enemies when they take Break Damage.
Youthful Fantasy is another good S rank Arc for Iroi. This Arc provides her with an ATK and ATk% substat on par with her Signature. The break Intensity, while not that useful for her as she is not built around break, does help with the damage an enemy takes when they are broken. However, the Black Tome summon is not as useful for Iroi, as she doesn't benefit from the increased Chaos DMG. Since we expect that she wants to stack very high Attack, that will help with the damage the Black Tome does when an enemy breaks, at least.
Clear Skies M5
ATK - 475
ATK - 25%

Paper Squadron

Increases Anima DMG dealt by the wearer's Redirect Skill and Ultimate by 20%.
Clear Skies is Iroi's best A rank option. Similarly to her Signature Arc, this Arc provides her with an ATK% Substat and a good amount of Base ATK, though less than an S rank. At Mixin-level 5, the Anima bonus given by Clear Skies is greater than the Anima bonus of her M1 Signature, however it only affects her Skill and Ultimate, while her Signature improves all her Anima DMG.

Best Console Setups for Iroi

Iroi gains a 10% ATK Bonus for each Type III Module equipped

Iroi gains a 10% ATK Bonus for each Type III Module equipped. Iroi has three potential good build options: First is her support build using Speedy Hedgehog, Second is her pure healer build using Thea's Night Tavern, and lastly her damage focus build using Fireflies and the Forest.
Speedy Hedgehog

2-piece: Epic (2): Charge Efficiency +12%.
4-piece: Legendary (4): Increases all allies' ATK by 15% for 20s after the wearer casts Ultimate. Effect does not stack.

Speedy Hedgehog is a great Cartridge for Iroi, as she is a support Esper. The increased Ultimate charge helps her use her Ult more often, providing the team with either healing more often, if using Dream of the Horned Gate, or her ultimate damage and character resurrection, if using Dream of the Ivory Gate. Additionally, the team will benefit from the increased ATK whenever she uses her ultimate, making her not only a great healer, but also a potent DPS-support when paired with her signature Arc. Below is a maximized console for Speedy Hedgehog.

Iroi Module Bonus

+60% ATK (6 x Type III equipped)

Speedy Hedgehog

Qualifying Modules: 4
2-piece: Epic (2): Charge Efficiency +12%.
4-piece: Legendary (4): Increases all allies' ATK by 15% for 20s after the wearer casts Ultimate. Effect does not stack.
Thea's Night Tavern

2-piece: Epic (2): HP +10%.
4-piece: Legendary (4): Increases wearer's Healing Bonus by 20%.
This a a good option if you want Iroi to mainly focus on healing and you are running a team with another character using Speedy Hedgehog such as Sakiri as the 4 piece effect can not stack with multiple copies. While the two piece HP boost doesn't help her healing she does benefit from the Cartridge's 4 piece healing boost effect. Because Thea's Night Tavern only requires Type 3 Module there is no sacrificing Modules for the set bonus giving her a 60% attack boost in addition to the healing set bonus. The main stat priority does change with this set as a healing bonus mainstat will further elevate her healing over having more ATK. An example of a maximize console is shown below.

Fireflies and the Forest

2-piece: Epic (2): Anima DMG +10%.
4-piece: Legendary (4): Increases wearer's CRIT DMG by 8% when a nearby enemy takes Anima DMG from the Team, up to 7 stacks. Each stack lasts 10s. Effect remains active when the character is off-field.
This is a great option for Iroi if you want to focus on her damage and another character is holding Speedy Hedgehog. To make the most out of this set, you do want to run Iroi with more CRIT Rate to allow her to take advantaged of the CRIT DMG increase meaning that Mainstat and Substat priority changes to CRIT Rate as the first priority. Iroi's Stat Priority

Cartridge Mainstat Priority: ATK > Anima Damage > Healing bonus > CRIT Rate = CRIT DMG
Substat Priority: ATK % > Flat ATK > Universal DMG > CRIT Rate = CRIT DMG

Iroi's damage and healing both scale off of her ATK making maximizing her ATK her main priority. A healing bonus mainstat can be used if ATK isn't available and you want to focus on her healing otherwise Anima DMG or CRIT stats are good alternatives for her personal damage. While this recommendation is good overall for any of her builds, it is important to remember that stat priority is also dependent on which cartridge Iroi is holding. Check the upper section on console setups to see how some of her builds impacts her Mainstat and Substat priorities.

Iroi's Skill Priority

Skill > Ultimate > Basic Attack > Support Skill

Iroi's main source of healing comes from her Skill, which also doubles as a great source of damage, meaning this should be her first priority. Her Ultimate also provides both damage and healing and should be the next priority. Following that, her Basic Attack should be prioritized over her Support Skill. Her basic attack is useful to level if you plan on playing with her putting her teammates into regression and having her on field but if you are only using it to build imagination and keeping her as a more off-field support leveling her basic attack damage is not important.

Iroi's Awakening Priority

If you have one or multiple copies of a character, you will be able to select Awakenings of your choosing. Remember that you can switch them at any time to try out different ones, or tailor your choices for a specific fight or situation.

Awakening Unlock Order Explanation
Trait: Transparent
(A5)
This awakening should be your first priority unlock as it lets her Sympathetic never passive buff allies in addition to the defense ignore increasing her potential as a support for the team.
Iterated Prisoner's Dilemma
(A1)
Iroi's A1 is a fantastic second choice as it allows her to gain imagination while off field helping her use her enhanced ultimate more often allowing the team to more reliably make use of her off-field damage. In addtion the increased imagination gain efficiency helps her quickly gain imagination when she does come on field to use her basic attack and skill.
Strategy: Tit for Tat
(A1)
the third recommended awakening is her A2. This awakening allows an additional way for Iroi to deal some off field damage and is particularly good when in teams with an on-field dps that has a short skill cooldown.
Trait: Cooperative
(A3)
Iroi's fourth recommended awakening is Trait: Cooperative. This awakening helps Iroi keeps her teammates alive with better healing when they are at low health. Because NTE allows you to freely switch awakenings this awakening can easily become your number one priority if you are in a particularly tough fight that you are struggling to keep characters alive in.
Trait: Retaliatory
(A4)
The Fifth recommended awakening for Iroi is her A4, providing increased ATK to characters in the regression state. While the increased ATK is strong, the requirement of characters being in regression means it is only useful if you are playing Iroi using her held Skill to force the team in regression or a teammate has gone into regression due to falling in battle.
Trait: Forgiving
(A6)
The last recommended awakening for Iroi is her A6. similarly to her A3 this awakening only activates when a character is revived by her ultimate meaning they need to be in regression already. This Awakening however, when paired with her A3 and A1 can be a great combination for a team focused on Iroi forcing the team into regression.

How to Play Iroi

Iroi is a support character providing both healing and buffs to the team. She's able to heal her team with either her support skill or one of her Ultimate versions - Dream of the Horned Gate.

Her kit is built around building Imagination with her Basic Attack, tapped Skill, and Support Skill. This resource is then used to either do a stronger held Basic Attack, or an enhanced Ultimate (Dream of the Ivory Gate) if she has built sufficient Imagination.

This enhanced Ultimate not only heals the team and does damage to enemies in a large area, but also temporarily resurrects downed teammates in exchange for continuously draining imagination.

Her Skill can be held to put her teammates into the Regression state, allowing them to do damage while also gaining a portion of her offensive stats. If any teammates fall in battle, they also enter the Regression state, which is required for her enhanced Ultimate to resurrect them temporarily. Once characters are in the regression state they can not be returned to normal unless using the enhanced Ultimate or leaving combat. While she is able to trigger cycle reactions with regressed character, characters in regression can not be switched to or use their skills or ultimates. Caution should be used when using her held skill as often times it is better to have access to those abilities rather than the off field damage by those characters.
