Hoshimi Miyabi Guide & Best Builds

Welcome to our Miyabi build guide for Zenless Zone Zero. Hoshimi Miyabi is a powerful S-Rank Ice DPS Agent known for her incredibly high DPS output in any team or content. In our guide we'll cover everything you need to know to get the most out of your Miyabi, from building the best Drive Discs and W-Engines, to important stat priorities and combos.

Hoshimi Miyabi's Best W-Engines

Listed below are Miyabi's best W-Engines. While W-Engines are listed in a priority order, what's best to build on your Miyabi can vary slightly depending on your team composition.

Hailstorm Shrine S1
Frost-Stained Star
CRIT DMG increases by 50/57/65/72/80%. When using an EX Special Attack or when any squad member applies an Attribute Anomaly to an enemy, the equipper's Ice DMG increases by 20/23/26/29/32%, stacking up to 2 times and lasting 15s. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
Miyabi's signature W-Engine Hailstorm Shrine is massively ahead of any other weapon choice for her, so much so that pulling for her weapon is higher value than pulling for her Mindscapes. In order to benefit from this weapon, you will need to have teammates that regularly apply Anomaly effects, and all her suggested teams do exactly that, giving you the full benefit at almost all times.
Fusion Compiler S1
Data Flood
Increases ATK by 12/15/18/21/24%.
When using a Special Attack or EX Special Attack, the equipper's Anomaly Proficiency is increased by 25/31/37/43/50 for 8s, stacking up to 3 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
A serviceable alternative, it trails behind Hailstorm Shrine by about 20-25%, depending on your Hailstorm buff uptime. Fusion Compiler is a Standard S-Rank weapon, so it is likely that you have access to it. If you happen to have multiple copies, it may end up not being too far behind Hailstorm Shrine, but using it will make building for 100% Crit Rate much more difficult as well.
Electro-Lip Gloss S5
Kiss of Death
When there are enemies inflicted with Attribute Anomaly on the field, the equipper's ATK increases by 10/11.5/13/14.5/16% and they deal an additional 15/17.5/20/22.5/25% more DMG to the target.
This is the Battlepass W-Engine, and getting it to S5 is going to take some time (and money). Even at S5 it is only about as strong as a S1 Fusion Compiler, so unless you do not have any other Anomaly Agent in need of your Lip Gloss right now, it is better used elsewhere.
Rainforest Gourmet S5
Dinner's Ready!
For every 10 Energy consumed, the equipper gains a buff that increases ATK by 2.5/2.8/3.2/3.6/4% for 10s, stacking up to 10 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

A craftable A-rank W-Engine, and her best option beyond the ones listed above. Miyabi's Skill consumes 40 Energy, and when playing around the follow-up EX Special attack, which also consumes 40 Energy, you can quickly build up to a high ATK% boost right before using your enhanced Basic Attack, followed by her Ultimate. This will provide slightly more damage, than the alternative craftable W-Engine.

It bears mentioning that due to the passive Fallen Frost stack generation from triggering Anomaly, this may lead to you overcapping on stacks, which will require much more precise play to avoid doing so!

Weeping Gemini S5
Lingering Cries
Whenever a squad member inflicts an Attribute Anomaly on an enemy, the equipper gains a buff that increases Anomaly Proficiency by 30/34/38/42/48, stacking up to 4 times. This effect expires when the target recovers from Stun or is defeated. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
Weeping Gemini is Miyabi's other craftable A-rank W-Engine, and is a bit easier to play, but also has a slightly lower ceiling than Rainforest Gourmet. Since all its bonuses are entirely passive, there is less reason to play around consuming two EX-Specials back-to-back, making it an option that is a bit more forgiving to play rotationally.

Best Drive Discs for Hoshimi Miyabi

Branch and Blade Song
2-Piece Set: CRIT DMG +16%
4-Piece Set: When Anomaly Mastery exceeds or equals 115 points, the equipper's CRIT DMG increases by 30%. When any squad member applies Freeze or triggers the Shatter effect on an enemy, the equipper's CRIT Rate increases by 12%, lasting 15s.
Branch and Blade Song was made in a lab specifically for Miyabi, and is her best build option. You'll need to ensure that you get enough Anomaly Mastery on her to get the 4-set benefit though, and that can come at the cost of other sub-stats. Reaching 80-100% Crit Rate with this set is fairly easy, so make sure to account for the extra Crit Rate when building Miyabi, as it will not show on the character screen.

2-Piece Recommendations include:

  • Woodpecker Electro (if you need more Crit Rate)
  • Polar Metal (if you're already close to Crit Rate capping)
  • Hormone Punk (if it has better sub-stats)
Woodpecker Electro
2-Piece Set: CRIT Rate +8%
4-Piece Set: Landing a critical hit on an enemy with a Basic Attack, Dodge Counter, or EX Special Attack increases the equipper's ATK by 9% for 6s. The buff duration for different skills are calculated separately.
Grants slightly less Crit Rate, and no Crit DMG, but offers a decent chunk of ATK% instead. About ~5% worse than Branch & Blade Song, which can be made up for if you have better substats on this set than Branch.

2-Piece Recommendations include:

  • Polar Metal (if it has better substats, or already have super high Crit DMG)
  • Branch & Blade Song (if you're close to capping crit)
Polar Metal
2-Piece Set: Ice DMG +10%
4-Piece Set: Increase the DMG of Basic Attack and Dash Attack by 20%. When any squad member inflicts Freeze or Shatter, this effect increases by an additional 20% for 12s.
If you've been blessed with loads of Crit Rate and Crit DMG rolls, this set can be very competitive, since it grants a lot of other types of damage. Since reaching ~80% Crit, and then building a lot of Crit DMG is critical (heh) to optimizing Miyabi, this set is only really worth it if you can still hit high rates despite the set not providing any bonuses to those stats beyond the substats you roll.

2-Piece Recommendations include:

  • Woodpecker Electro (to reach 80% Crit Rate)
  • Branch & Blade Song (if you need more Crit DMG)
If you're above 80% Crit already, either option is competitive with the difference being very minor.

Hoshimi Miyabi's Stat Priority

Disc 4: CRIT Rate > CRIT DMG = ATK %
Disc 5: ATK % = Ice DMG
Disc 6: ATK %
Substats: CRIT Rate (up to 80%) > CRIT Rate (over 80%) = CRIT DMG = ATK %

Generally speaking when building Miyabi, CRIT Rate is the most important while aiming to get as close to 100% as possible. You'll want at least 80% to fully benefit from her Core Passive, which grants Anomaly Mastery based on her Crit Rate, up to 80%. Don't forget that some sets grant their bonuses only in Combat, so they won't be visible on the character screen.

When played with Von Lycaon or other Agents that provide a bit of PEN already, the stat becomes a bit more valuable as well, so don't despair if you end up rolling it instead of ATK% or Crit DMG, as it is still useful for her.

Hoshimi Miyabi's Skill Priority

Skill Priority: >> >> > > =

Miyabi's most important skills to level are her Core Skill, Basic Attack, Ultimate and EX Special Attacks, in that order.

How to Play Hoshimi Miyabi

Miyabi's gameplay revolves around gaining and spending Fallen Frost stacks to deal massive damage with her enhanced Basic Attack. Do not cast her enhanced Basic Attack with less than 6 stacks (the maximum), unless you can guarantee the final enemy will die to a weaker cast. Keep in mind that once the animation for the enhanced Basic has begun, you can already swap to another character, while Miyabi does her damage.

What are Fallen Frost Charges?

Fallen Frost charges are a mechanic unique to Miyabi. They are shown under Miyabi's HP and have a max stack of 6. When holding your Basic Attack Button, you will slowly consume them in pairs of two, to enhance her basic Attack. Consuming all 6 will deal about 2-3x as much damage as just consuming 4 charges, so make sure to never do so unless it can kill the final boss or enemy you are fighting.

Miyabi herself can gain stacks through her abilities, with her EX Special generating 2 stacks, while her Ultimate generates 6. Filling the Anomaly bar with her special Frostburn Anomaly will also generate 1 stack. Ideally you will avoid overcapping stacks if at all possible, but due to the uneven generation, you may end up having to do so anyway. Miyabi will also receive charges whenever an Anomaly Disorder is triggered by one of her teammates, which is something you will want to optimize as much as possible.

The general idea is that you will be using either her Ultimate to generate 3 Charges and then build 3 x 1 charges from Anomaly effects/her own Frostburn trigger, or use her EX Special twice back-to-back so it deals extra damage on the second cast, generates 4 stacks, and you gain 2 more from Anomaly effects.

You can also throw in a single EX Special to get your next enhanced Basic Attack out, as the damage difference between the follow-up EX Special that you only gain when using EX Special twice back to back, is not that big. Do note however that depending on your W-Engine choices, the double EX Special can also provide additional stats you want to build before unleashing your enhanced Basic, so if you're playing Rainforest Gourmet or Fusion Compiler, you may want to pay extra attention to your rotation.

The key takeaway is this: Do not waste resources, whether it be Fallen Frost charges, Energy, or sitting on your Ultimate for too long - unless it makes sense to do so. Sitting on 4 Fallen Frost charges, with your Ultimate ready, and no EX Special or multiple Anomaly triggers in sight, means that you are wasting a lot of Decibel Gauge by not using your Ultimate. In a case like this, it is better to just use the Ultimate, overcap on 1 Fallen Frost, and do the damage immediately, instead of waiting 10-15 seconds for you to generate Fallen Frost in another way.

Hoshimi Miyabi's Best Mindscapes

Miyabi's Mindscapes are strong damage improvements, but we recommend pulling her W-Engine first before committing to more copies of her. If you are grabbing dupes for Miyabi, you'll want at least two, as it offers additional stats and significantly more damage, while also giving you a free enhanced Basic on combat start.

If you already have her sig weapon and M2, committing to more copies is only worth if you plan on going all the way to M6. While each of the Mindscapes provide additional damage, there is a massive jump from M5 to M6, while the steps from M2 to M5 are fairly minor.
