Catcher Guide & Best Builds

Welcome to our Catcher build guide for Arknights: Endfield. Catcher is a 4-star Great Sword Defender Character available in Arknights: Endfield who utilizes the Physical element.

In our Catcher guide, we'll cover everything you need to know to get the most out of your Catcher, from building the best Gear and Weapons, to important stat priorities and combos.

Catcher's Best Weapons

Former Finery
  • Willpower +156 (9/9)
  • HP +78% (9/9)

Efficacy: Mincing Therapy (4/9):
Treatment Efficiency +16%.
After a Protected operator takes DMG, the wielder restores the said operator's HP by [134 + Will×1.12].
Effect only triggers once every 15s.
Former Finery is a nice weapon that further boosts Catcher's defensive kit, by providing some healing on top of his already strong shields. Whenever an Operator protected by his shield would take damage, this weapon triggers a healing effect based on Catcher's Will, which is his Secondary attribute.
OBJ Heavy Burden
  • Strength +124 (9/9)
  • HP +62.4% (9/9)

Efficacy: Tenacious Will (9/9):
Secondary Attribute +14%.
When the wielder applies Knocked Down or Weakened, the wielder gains DEF +50.4% for 15s.
Effects of the same name cannot stack.
OBJ Heavy Burden is Catcher's signature weapon, and is built around his Ultimate. The trigger effects for the weapon are both caused by his Ult, which will grant him a very strong Def% buff.

Catcher's Best Essences

Essences are one of the repeatedly farmable ways to further boost the damage of your Catcher. Which area and essence you will want to farm will depend on the weapon you are playing, as not all Essences are compatible with every weapon. Essences will increase the stats of your weapon, as well as enhance the passive effect it provides.

  • Former Finery: Will Boost, HP Boost, and Efficacy, farmable in Origin Lodespring.
  • OBJ Heavy Burden: Strength, HP Boost, and Efficacy, farmable in Origin Lodespring.

Essences can be further upgraded through a system called Etching which will be a long-term investment due to how much Sanity it takes to fully max out a weapon. You may therefore want to farm and Etch Essences for a signature weapon already if you plan on getting it in the near-future, even if you do not have the weapon yet. A simple +1/+1/+1 Essence for a temporary weapon like OBJ Heavy Burden will be good enough until you can get your hands on Catcher's Former Finery.

Best Gear for Catcher

Eternal Xiranite
3-piece set effect: Wearer's HP +1000.
After the wearer applies Amp, Protected, Susceptibility, or Weakened, other teammates gain DMG Dealt +16% for 15s. This effect cannot stack.
The Eternal Xiranite set will give Catcher some damage boosting capabilities after using his Ultimate, while giving you more frequent access to them as well. The combination of applying Weaken as well as shielding some of your Operators might make this surprisingly potent against enemies that deal a lot of unavoidable damage, or when you are not yet familiar with a boss's pattern in the endgame.

Leveling Gear for Catcher

While the above gear set is the optimal choice, it might take you some time before you will be able to craft it. Below are some of the more early and mid-game sets that we recommend until you've reached the pinnacle of craftsmanship.

Armored MSGR
3-piece set effect: Wearer's Strength +50.
When the wearer's HP is below 50%, the wearer gains 30% DMG Reduction against all types of DMG.
The Armored MSGR set will serve as a decent alternative until you can craft Catcher's higher rarity set, granting damage reduction to Catcher.

Catcher's Skill Priority

Skill Priority: Rigid Interdiction > Timely Suppression > Textbook Assault > Basic Tactics

It is likely that you will be playing Catcher specifically for his defensive benefits, instead of his ability to deal damage with his Basic Attack and Ultimate. As such, you will want to prioritize his Skill and Combo Skill over the remaining abilities, especially if you think you can get great value out of his high-cooldown Combo Skill.

How to Play Catcher

Catcher is a bit of an oddball, having a very defensive kit, with some of his skills functioning best in moments of high danger. His Battle Skill restores SP, and can also apply Vulnerable, but only if you time it correctly so Catcher gets hit while he raises his shield to protect himself and his allies.

His Combo Skill has a very high cooldown, relative to other Operators, and grants all allies a strong shield. The caveat? This skill only triggers if the Controlled Operator drops below 40% HP, or the enemy charges up a powerfull skill. Neither of these are reliable and on demand, but we foresee that some specific encounters might align perfectly with the cooldown on this ability, making Catcher more useful on some fights than others.

His Ultimate on the other hand is quite readily available, and applies Weaken to enemies, as well as knocking them down, which will also generate a Vulnerable stack. All in all, he has a very defensive kit, that might be incredibly useful in very niche situations, but unfortunately that makes him more of a specialist than an all-rounder - an odd combination for a very defensive character, who you would want to be consistent in protecting your team.
