Pilgrim's Traverse Guide for Floors 99-100

A surprise boss encounter awaits players on Floor 99: The Devoured Eater, and Eminent Grief. The first duo boss encounter in a Deep Dungeon, players must keep their health within 25% of each other, otherwise each boss will gain a stacking health regeneration buff and a damage up buff, increasing with the difference in HP past 25%.

It is heavily suggested to save a Barkbalm Incense for this boss if possible in order to significantly lower the amount of time it takes to clear, though a Mazeroot Incense works less well if the former is unavailable. When using one of these, Feo Ul will always attack the first target you hit, so you will be free to attack the other with only occasional swapping to ensure they are within a safe range of each other. The powerful DoT from Barkbalm Incense hits and affects both bosses.

Reaching this Floor will unlock the option to "Invoke The Final Verse" at the NPC Vanthau in Il Mheg. Doing this will allow players to challenge a standalone version of this boss with either a Fixed or Matched party, allowing for easy practice. When fighting the boss in this manner, players are unable to access any pomanders or incense, as these are tied to save files.

As many mechanics in this fight happen simultaneously from boss bosses, the names of each boss will be shortened to Eater and Grief respectively for readability.

Boss Rotation Quick-Guide:
  1. Ball of Fire or Chains of Condemnation (Grief) + Blade of First Light (Eater)
  2. Bounds of Sin (Eater)
  3. Spinelash (Grief)
  4. Abyssal Blaze (Grief) x2
  5. Drain Aether (Eater) + Drain Aether (Grief)
  6. Abyssal Blaze resolves
  7. Bounds of Sin (Eater)
  8. Ball of Fire or Chains of Condemnation (Grief) + Blade of First Light (Eater)
  9. Abyssal Blaze (Grief) x2
  10. Spinelash (Grief)
  11. Bounds of Sin (Eater)
  12. Ball of Fire or Chains of Condemnation (Grief) + Blade of First Light (Eater)
  13. Drain Aether (Eater) + Drain Aether (Grief)
  14. Abyssal Blaze resolves
  15. Repeat from first Bounds of Sin (Eater)

The arena is a large rectangle with two vertical golden lines and multiple puddles of light and dark aether on the floor. Players can also fall or be pushed off the arena, causing them to die instantly. Players can stand in a light or dark puddle to gain the Light Vengeance or Dark Vengeance debuff respectively. The Light debuff is required in order to be able to damage Grief, and the Dark debuff is required to damage Eater. Both debuffs have a duration of three minutes, which is reset when entering another puddle to reapply the same debuff or apply the other one. If the debuff expires, players will be inflicted with Petrification if Light, or Hysteria if Dark. In both cases, players are nearly guaranteed to die immediately afterwards.

Shortly after being pulled, Grief will cast either Ball of Fire or Chains of Condemnation. Ball of Fire causes four orbs of flame to appear around the boss, which will (after a short delay) target circle AoEs at the positions that players were in when the castbar ended. As such, players will have to move in order to dodge this. Chains of Condemnation causes two orbs of chains to appear in the hands of the boss, and will inflict a debuff on all players for 3 seconds when the castbar ends. While players have this debuff, moving will deal large amounts of damage to players, similar to Pyretic in other content, however players are still free to attack.

At the same time as this, Eater will cast Blade of First Light, holding up either one large sword in the middle of the arena or two smaller swords out to the sides of the arena. When the castbar ends, the boss will attack the central third of the arena or the outside two thirds of the arena respectively, depending on which sword was held. It is important to note that the castbar from Grief and the castbar from Eater will resolve at different times, with one always being faster than the other (though it is different every time). Be aware of this, and plan accordingly. It is generally recommended to move left or right into position for Blade of First Light, and then forward or backward for Ball of Fire if necessary.

After this, Eater will cast Bounds of Sin, drawing all players into the middle of the arena and telegraphing a clockwise or counter-clockwise circle of AoEs around players, which will quickly resolve into a circle of large spikes that block movement. Being inside this circle when it completes will deal high damage and place a Vulnerability Up debuff on all players hit. In order to avoid this, players will need to look at the last two AoEs that are telegraphed, and simply move out of the circle in that direction in order to avoid being inside when it completes. If players are unsure whether they will be able to make it out in time or not, it is better to remain within the circle than to be hit by one of the circle AoEs, as these will instantly kill players.

Next, Grief will mark one player over the head with an orange arrow, and begin to move left or right to align with that player. When the marker disappears, the boss will remain in place while it casts Spinelash, which will fire a line AoE down the line that the targeted player was standing on when the marker vanished. There are windows at the back of the arena, and if this attack hits one of the windows, it will shatter it and summon a Vodoriga Minion add, which should be killed as soon as possible. These adds will deal high damage to whoever they target, and will also use Terror Eye, a circle AoE targeting a random player. In order to resolve this mechanic without summoning an add, the player with the marker should move to stand on one of the two vertical gold lines on the arena. These line up with the portions of wall between the windows, and ensure that Spinelash will never break a window and summon an add.

Shortly after this, Grief will cast Abyssal Blaze, ripping open a portal with its hands and summoning four dark crystals onto the arena. It will then repeat this cast, summoning another four. These crystals will later explode and pulse outwards in a manner similar to the standard Exaflare mechanic. The important tell of this mechanic is whether the boss is ripping open the portal vertically (hands going up and down) or horizontally (hands going left and right). This will tell the player the directions that the Exaflares will move in for those four crystals: left and right, or up and down.

In order to safely resolve this mechanic, players will need to identify the same spots on the arena relative to where the Exaflares will be moving once the crystals explode. One of the four corners of the arena will always be safe, as one corner will be covered by only the vertical AoEs and one corner will be covered by only the horizontal AoEs, with one corner being covered by both sets. Players have plenty of time to find this safe spot during the initial casts of the mechanic, and will need to remember it for later when the mechanic resolves.

Finally, both Grief and Eater will cast the final unique mechanic, Drain Aether. This will do lethal damage to any player of the same element as the one casting it, and one castbar will always end before the other, though it is different every time. When Grief's castbar ends, players must have the Light debuff, and when Eater's casatbar ends, players must have the Dark debuff.

Once this is done, the crystals summoned by Abyssal Blaze will explode and resolve, so players should be in the safe spot when this happens. After this point, the boss will begin to repeat mechanics, with another Bounds of Sin followed by a Blade + Fire/Condemnation combo and two more Abyssal Blaze casts. Grief will use Spinelash, Eater will use Bounds of Sin again, a third Blade + Fire/Condemnation combo will be used, a second Drain Aether combo, and then the Abyssal Blaze crystals will resolve. The bosses will now enter a loop, starting back at the first Bounds of Sin cast.

Floor 100 Boss - The Walk

Upon beating Floor 99, players will still need to complete Floor 100 before the time runs out. After teleporting to the final floor, simply walk forwards and interact with the Small Altar to complete the duty. On all roles, you can expect a clear time of about 15 seconds without the use of sprint.

Upon completion, you will obtain a copy of Illumed Invocations Icon Illumed Invocations. These can be traded to Ose Wyd in Il Mheg for accessories or other rewards. Speak to Aenc Daen while wearing all four available accessories to obtain the Chandelier of First Light Icon Chandelier of First Light mount and the title The First Shadow.

If this is your first clear, you will obtain the Saint of Sorrows title. If this is your first solo clear, you will also obtain the title The Enlightened. Congratulations!
