That's really odd for them to put Cho-Gall at different level requirements. Does make sense to put Gall as the earlier head since they chose that route.

Yeah, I'd say you definitely need more awareness etc. to be able to play Cho properly. Gall can be played to a moderate level by just spamming the abilities.

I'm glad he's on rotation, haven't seen Cho'gall played for a long while now.

That's not because of lack of access... So many people have him because he was free. It's because he just isn't good in the meta. You get one clean pick on him in mid to late game and it's an ender because it counts as being down 2 heroes. His positioning as Cho has to be completely flawless because he has no jump moves to avoid lock down. Newer heroes have too much pop, you have li-ming, greymane, chromie, and Alarak since his release that can blow people up and get a good pick on him. Let alone a lot of the re-tooling to older heroes to keep up with the slow power creep that should happen in these games.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea and he's a lot of fun if you have a good buddy to play with. He just has such terrible value.

I have seen a pro game where he was picked purely because of Auriel, not to say he's meta but still it's an interesting thought...

He's an awesome teaching hero at least. I used it to teach my girlfriend about positioning and when to dive/retreat. It actually helped a decent amount!

Cho'gall is absurdly good in Team Fights with Auriel. Overall he is one of the funniest characters to use, specially if you and your partner have good synergy to chain the skill shots.

However, I think Blizz should either give him a major rework, or tweak him so he becomes more viable in the meta.

I wish you could queue as Cho/Gall without having to get a friend to play with. In Quick Matches it would be fun.

You could allow players to tick a box that basically says, "if there is a Cho/Gall that needs someone, I'm happy to fill that spot."
