Introductions

Fugue is a 5★ Fire Character following the Path of Nihility. Fugue is a Break support that allows for all allies to Superbreak damage and grants a unique Toughness mechanic.
Our Fugue Build Guide will show you the best Lightcones, Relics and Team Compositions build the best Fugue you can.

Fugue's Best Light Cone

Long Road Leads Home
S1
Increases the wearer's Break Effect by 60.0 / 70.0 / 80.0 / 90.0 / 100%. When an enemy target's Weakness gets broken, there is a 100% base chance to inflict the "Charring" state on it, which increases its Break DMG taken by 18.0 / 21.0 / 24.0 / 27.0 / 30.0%, lasting for 2 turn(s). This effect can stack 2 time(s).

Sources: Event Warp (limited)
This is Fugue's Signature Lightcone and is her best Lightcone. This Lightcone provides a significant boost to Break Effect and a debuff that increases Break DMG taken by enemies for 2 Turns. This debuff is applied when the enemy is weakness broken and stacks, which works perfectly with Fugue's "Cloudflame Luster" mechanic from her Talent Fortune Follows Where Virtue Spreads.
Never Forget Her Flame
S1
Increases the wearer's Break Effect by 60.0 / 75.0 / 90.0 / 105.0 / 120.0%. When entering combat, increases Break DMG dealt by the wearer and another teammate who triggered combat by 32.0 / 42.0 / 52.0 / 62.0 / 72.0%. If there is no teammate who triggered combat, applies this effect to the wearer and the teammate with the highest Break Effect. Effects of the same type cannot be stacked. When the wearer applies Weakness to an enemy target, recovers 1 Skill Point. This effect can only trigger once, and trigger count resets when using Ultimate.
This is The Dahlia's Signature Lightcone and is the second best Lightcone for Fugue. This Lightcone grants a significant boost to Break DMG done to the character wearing the Lightcone and the person who initiates combat (Ideally your Carry).
This Lightcone would be best used on The Dahlia if you have her and it cannot stack making obtaining multiple copies less valuable.
Lies Dance on the Breeze
S1
Increases the wearer's SPD by 18.0 / 21.0 / 24.0 / 27.0 / 30.0%. After the wearer uses an attack, there is a 120.0% base chance to inflict the "Bamboozle" state on every enemy target. While under the "Bamboozle" state, enemy targets have their DEF decreased by 16.0 / 18.0 / 20.0 / 22.0 / 24.0% for 2 turn(s). If the wearer's SPD is higher than or equal to 170, there is a 120.0% base chance to inflict the "Theft" state on every enemy target. While under the "Theft" state, enemy targets have their DEF decreased by 8.0 / 9.0 / 10.0 / 11.0 / 12.0% for 2 turn(s). When "Bamboozle" or "Theft" is repeatedly inflicted, only the most recently inflicted instance takes effect.

Sources: Event Warp (limited)
This is Cipher's Signature Lightcone and is the best universal Nihility Lightcones. This Lightcone provides a huge boost to SPD which helps with Skill Point generation for your team and has the highest DEF reduction of any Nihility Lightcone. As Fugue has +14 SPD in traces reaching the 170 SPD breakpoint to get the full effect of this Lightcone does not need many SPD rolls on gear (2-3).
Holiday Thermae Escapade
S5
Increases the wearer's DMG dealt by 16.0 / 20.0 / 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0%. After the wearer attacks, there is a 100% base chance to inflict the attacked target with Vulnerability, increasing the DMG they receive by 10.0 / 11.5 / 13.0 / 14.5 / 16.0% for 2 turn(s). Effects of the same type cannot stack.

Sources: Nameless Glory
This is a Battlepass 4★ Lightcone that applies a Debuff to enemies that increases DMG they take. This is better than Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat because it can re-apply the debuff before it expires resulting in higher uptime. Additionally, at lower Superpositions this Lightcone does not lose Base Chance to apply the debuff making it far more reliable than Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat.
Holiday Thermae Escapade
S1
Increases the wearer's DMG dealt by 16.0 / 20.0 / 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0%. After the wearer attacks, there is a 100% base chance to inflict the attacked target with Vulnerability, increasing the DMG they receive by 10.0 / 11.5 / 13.0 / 14.5 / 16.0% for 2 turn(s). Effects of the same type cannot stack.

Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat
S5
When the wearer hits an enemy and if the hit enemy is not already "Ensnared," then there is a 60.0 / 70.0 / 80.0 / 90.0 / 100% base chance to "Ensnare" the hit enemy. "Ensnared" enemies' DEF decreases by 12.0 / 13.0 / 14.0 / 15.0 / 16.0% for 1 turn(s).

Sources: Stellar Warp
This is a 4★ Limited Lightcone that has a chance to reduce the DEF of enemies hit. The DEF reduction from this Lightcone will only last for 1 turn and cannot be re-applied while it is still active which can result in Downtime. Despite this downtime it is still better than Fermata as it increases the DPS of all teammates instead of just Fugue.
Fermata
S5
Increases the wearer's Break Effect by 16.0 / 20.0 / 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0%, and increases their DMG to enemies afflicted with Shock or Wind Shear by 16.0 / 20.0 / 24.0 / 28.0 / 32.0%. This also applies to DoT.

Sources: Forgotten Hall Store, Echo of War
This is a 4★ Lightcone that can be purchased from the Forgotten Hall Manifest Store making it readily accessible. This Lightcone boosts Break Effect making it good for Fugue as her main DPS output is Superbreak DMG. The increase in DMG to enemies with Shock or Wind Shear does not matter for Fugue.

Best Relics and Planar Ornaments for Fugue

Best Relics for Fugue

These are the best Relic Sets to build for Fugue.

Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge
2-Piece Set: Increases Break Effect by 16.0%.
4-Piece Set: If the wearer's Break Effect is 150.0% or higher, the Break DMG dealt to the enemy target ignores 10.0% of their DEF. If the wearer's Break Effect is 250.0% or higher, the Super Break DMG dealt to the enemy target additionally ignores 15.0% of their DEF.
This is Fugue's best Relic Set to build as it provides Break Effect and the 4pc allows for Break and Superbeak DMG to ignore DEF which are the majority of Fugue's damage output.
Thief of Shooting Meteor
2-Piece Set: Increases Break Effect by 16.0%.
4-Piece Set: Increases the wearer's Break Effect by 16.0%. After the wearer inflicts Weakness Break on an enemy, regenerates 3 Energy.
Another viable option for Fugue but we do not recommend it as Iron Cavalry is significantly more powerful due to having DEF Ignore. The Energy Generated from this Relic Set can sometimes be useful and allow her Ultimate to be used slightly earlier but Fugue will not reliably be the one breaking Enemies making this inconsistent.

Best Planar Ornaments

Forge of the Kalpagni Lantern
2-Piece Set: Increases the wearer's SPD by 6.0%. When the wearer hits an enemy target that has Fire Weakness, the wearer's Break Effect increases by 40.0%, lasting for 1 turn(s).
This is Fugue's best Planar Ornament to build as it grants a 6% SPD and 40% increased Break Effect. The Break Effect is provided whenever you hit an enemy with Fire Weakness. Both Firefly and The Dahlia who are Fugue's best partners can implant Fire Weakness so this should be reliable even against enemies that are not Fire Weakness. However, if you consistently play Fugue with Rappa and do not have The Dahlia then you may want to use Talia: Kingdom of Banditry instead.
Talia: Kingdom of Banditry
2-Piece Set: Increases the wearer's Break Effect by 16.0%. When the wearer's SPD reaches 145 or higher, the wearer's Break Effect increases by an extra 20.0%.
This is Fugue's second best Planar Ornament to build and it gives Fugue a permanent 36% Break Effect boost.

Fugue Build Comments

Character Explanation Build Advice

Character Explanation

Fugue is a Break Support that enables her team to deal Superbreak DMG via her Talent Fortune Follows Where Virtue Spreads. Fugue's Talent also grants enemies "Cloudflame Luster" equal to 40% of their Max Toughness which acts as a normal toughness bar after the enemies normal Toughness bar is broken. When this extra bar is broken it acts as if it were a normal Weakness Break and triggers all weakness break effects allowing teams with Fugue to double up on Weakness break triggers like Rappa's Energy Generation from her A6 Trace Ninjutsu Inscription: Sky High.

Fugue's Skill Virtue Beckons Bliss can used on an ally to grant them "Foxian Prayer" which will increase their Break Effect by 30% (at Lv10) and allow them to reduce Toughness even if the enemy does not have the corresponding Weakness which does not stand with other sources of this effect. As the Main Break Carries Firefly and Rappa both already have this effect it does not do much for them. In some cases it can be useful to provide this buff to another character on the team like Lingsha if the enemies are not Fire Weak which can happen in Rappa teams as this will allow Lingsha to meaningfully contribute to Break DMG and speed up kills more than giving the 30% Break to your Carry.

Whenever the ally with "Foxian Prayer" from Fugue's Skill Virtue Beckons Bliss attacks Fugue has a 100% base chance to reduce the enemies DEF by 18% (At Lv10) for 2 Turns. This 100% Base Chance is why Effect Hit Rate is a useful stat for Fugue as it improves the uptime of this effect as most endgame boss enemies have 40% Effect RES which needs 66. 7% EHR to have a 100% chance to apply. You do not need to target this breakpoint as the debuff lasts for 2 Turns but the closer you are the better consistency will be.

Fugue's Skill will also put Fugue in the "Torrid Scorch" state which enhances her Basic ATK to Fiery Caress which will deal Blast Damage instead of Single Target damage.

Fugue's Ultimate deals a large burst of AOE Toughness Damage and can reduce Toughness ignoring enemy Weakness Types. Fugue's Ultimate deals effective AOE damage and can soften up enemy Weaknesses for characters that would deal more Superbreak Damage. With Fugue's Eidolon 2 Beatitude Dawns for the Worthy her Ultimate becomes significantly stronger as it a team-wide 24% Action Advance to her Ultimate.

Fugue's A6 Trace Verdantia Renaissance will delay the action of Enemies by an additional 15% each time they are Weakness Broken. When accounting for enemies getting broken twice due to "Cloudflame Luster" from her Skill Fortune Follows Where Virtue Spreads this increases the time enemies spend broken by a lot allowing you to do way more Superbeak damage before they recover. It also reduces the damage your team takes as the enemy gets to spend less time attacking!

Build Advice

We suggest getting at least 160 SPD on Fugue as this will give her an additional action in 250 AV (1 cycle of MoC) and an additional action in 500 AV (2 cycles for Anomaly Arbitration). It is important that Fugue gets a lot of turns so that she can provide Skill Points for the other Characters on the Team. We do not suggest aiming for a higher SPD breakpoint as it requires a lot of SPD Substats on gear which are hard to get.

We recommend using an Effect Hit Rate Body armour as it makes the debuff from Fugue's Skill Virtue Beckons Bliss significantly more consistent. Additionally, getting Effect Hit Rate rolls on your artifacts is useful until you have 66.7% EHR which is enough to have 100% chance to apply debuffs against enemies that have 40% Effect RES.

Fugue does most of her damage through Break and Superbreak which makes Break Effect on gear the most important stat for her overall DPS contribution to the team. This should be your priority when comparing Relics as long as she still reaches a SPD breakpoint.

We suggest using an Energy Regeneration Rate Rope over a Break Effect Rope as it allows Fugue to cast her ultimate one turn faster consistently which helps with AoE Toughness Damage. Additionally, a Break Effect rope cannot roll Break Effect which makes it harder to get useful Substats. That being said, a Break Effect Rope ideally with high SPD and some Effect Hit Rate is a completely viable option.

We recommend Defensive stats on Fugue like HP% or DEF% as she does not gain a significant amount of Damage from ATK and the increased durability from having more HP% or DEF% can make her feel more comfortable to play with as she will need to be healed less.

Fugue's Best Eidolons

Fugue's first Eidolon Earthbound I Was, Cloudward I Be is very powerful and is between usually 25% and 33% more Superbreak DPS dealt by your main DPS.

Fugue's E2 Beatitude Dawns for the Worthy is very potent, especially on AOE encounters where the Energy Generation will trigger often, as the team-wide Action Advance on every Ultimate results in a significant boost in the overall number of turns everyone takes. This Eidolon can also allow Firefly to hit a SPD breakpoint that would have otherwise been unreachable. This Eidolon is an excellent point to stop as the next Eidolons are less efficient to invest in.

Fugue's E3 Verity Weaves Thoughts to Blade is decent as it increases her Skills Levels which provides an additional 2% DEF reduction on Enemies and 3% Break Effect to allies with "Foxian Prayer". This will be approximately ~2.2% more DPS.

Fugue's E4 Bereft of Form, Which Name to Bear is very potent increasing the Break DMG of allies with "Foxian Prayer" by 20%. This is a powerful E4 Eidolon and gives your Main DPS a large buff. This will be between ~15-20% more Break DPS for them depending if they have other sources of this stat.

Fugue's E5 Colored Cloud Rains Fortune is very good as the extra 2 levels on her Talent grant an extra 10% Super Break. This is an extra ~5% more Team DPS.

Fugue's E6 Clairvoyance of Boom and Doom increases Fugue's Weakness Break Efficiency by 50% making her own Superbreak Contribution extremely high while also giving "Foxian Prayer" to all allies while Fugue is in the "Torrid Scorch" State. This will grant all allies the Effects of Fugue's E1 and E4, as well as the 33% Break Effect from the Skill. This is an extremely good Eidolon as Superbeak Teams deal a lot of damage outside of their Main DPS.
