Adler Guide & Best Builds

Welcome to our Adler build guide for Neverness to Everness. Adler is an A-Rank Synthesis Character available in Neverness to Everness who utilizes the Incantation element.

In our Adler guide, we'll cover everything you need to know to get the most out of your Adler, from building the best gear and weapons, to important skill priorities and combos.

Adler's Best Arcs

The Fools' Spring M5
ATK - 395
DEF - 52.5%

Solifugae Vita

Increases ATK by 18% while the wearer has a Shield.
The Fools' Spring is an excellent A-rank Arc for Adler. This Arc provides a large DEF % increase which helps his damage, as his Skill and Ultimate damage scale with DEF. The Arc's effect is easy for him to consistently maintain, as Adler's Skill Evil's Bane produces a shield upon use, further increasing his damage potential.
Umbrella M5
ATK - 395
DEF - 52.5%

"Rainman"

Increases HP by 10%.
Strengthens shields by 10% while the wearer's HP is above 50%.
Umbrella is an another great A-rank for Adler. Just like with The Fools' Spring this Arc provides a large DEF % increase. The additional HP also helps with Adler's survivability. In addition, the Arc provides an increased shield strength as long as you can keep Adler at high health.
A Time Will Come M5
ATK - 475
CRIT Rate - 20%

Tidal Ascension

Grants the wearer 10% ATK, 10% DEF, and 10% HP when the team has at least 3 different Esper Types.
A Time Will Come is another good alternative. The CRIT Rate substat helps Adler crit more often, however his kit is not designed around crit ,so it is not as helpful as a DEF substat would be. The Arc effect itself does provides a good amount of DEF and HP, but is not as strong as the previous two Arcs who provide those bonuses passively at all times. In addition, the requirement of 3 different Esper types does limit team-building slightly compared to the alternatives.

Best Console Setups for Adler

Adler's Console bonus is a 12% DEF increase for every Type III Module.

2-piece: Epic (2): DEF +15%.
4-piece: Legendary (4): Increases wearer's shields by 20%.
This is the best Cartridge for Adler as a defense-scaling character that can produce a shield. Running it as a 4-piece is recommended, as it provides Adler with more defense and a stronger shield. Additionally, the 4-piece setup only requires Type III Modules, meaning there is no sacrificing a larger console bonus to get the full set effect. You are able to fit 2 more Type III and one Type II Module when running the full set effect, giving a total of 72% increased defense from the Console bonus, in addition to the set effects. Below is an example setup for the 4-piece set effect of Kingdom's Guard with maximum console bonus.

Adler's Stat Priority

Cartridge Mainstat Priority: DEF > Incantation DMG > CRIT
Substat Priority: DEF% > DEF > Universal DMG bonus > CRIT

Adler is a DEF scaling character in both his Skill and Ultimate attacks and shield strength, so it is beneficial to focus on gaining as much DEF as possible before trying to increase his Incantation damage or CRIT stats.

Adler's Skill Priority

Skill > Ultimate > Basic Attack > Support Skill

Adler's damage largely comes from his Skill and Ultimate so those two should be prioritized before his Basic Attack and Support Skill. His Skill in addition to damage provides the team with a shield so should be prioritized over his Ultimate to increase his shield strength improving team survivability.

Adler's Awakening Priority

If you have one or multiple copies of a character, you will be able to select Awakenings of your choosing. The following is a recommended order to unlock Adler's Awakenings. Remember that you can switch them at any time to try out different ones, or tailor your choices for a specific fight or situation.

Awakening Unlock Order Explanation
Form
(A1)
The first recommended Awakening for Adler is his A1, immediately providing him with the maximum stacks of Karma for a big Skill hit right after his Ultimate.
All Forms Are Void
(A6)
The second Awakening recommended is his A6, increasing his shield duration to more closely match the cooldown of his Skill, protecting his team for longer.
Sensation
(A2)
Sensation is the third recommended Awakening for Adler providing a strong boost to the damage of his Skill. This pairs well with his A1, for a great burst combo of Ultimate into Skill.
Discernment
(A5)
His next recommended Awakening is Discernment as it reduces the total Ultimate energy he has to build in order to use his Ultimate, making it further enhance the aforementioned combo.
Perception
(A3)
His fifth recommended Awakening is Perception. This Awakening increases his Shield's strength, allowing him to improve the survivability of his team.
Formation
(A4)
Adler's last recommended Awakening is his A4. While the A4 does reduce the damage the on-field Esper will take when the shield breaks, this is only situationally useful as you'd like to avoid this from happening in the first place.

If you plan on using Adler solely for his Shield bonuses, we recommend choosing A3, A6, and A4 before the others instead.

How to Play Adler

Adler is a support Esper providing survivability to his team in the form of his Shield. When playing Adler, your focus is on building Karma with his Basic Attacks and then using his Skill to consume Karma for increased damage. When using his Ultimate, try to make sure only one target is left alive for some considerable burst damage and stagger.

Once the game has launched, and we had an opportunity to play around with all the characters, we will be updating this section with more specific rotational advice and how to set up specific combos for Esper Cycles or burst windows!
